  1. Other than the possible misuse of campaign funds, i don't really see how any of this is a crime. It may be embarrassing to have the POTUS secretly lobby against her own bill. But I don't think it's a crime. I guess this too accurately mirrors real Washington to be that funny. Investigate things that aren't crimes in order to trap someone into something that is a crime.
  2. So they'll be OK as long as they keep Will unconscious? I would really like to understand the motivation of the Whispers character. Right now it's just an amorphous "evil." It would be more interesting to have a story explaining why he is going after the sense8's. I think it was an interesting series, if a bit hacky in places. I would have liked to have seen the "power" used for more than fighting and blowing stuff up. Especially after Jonas gave a dissertation about how regular humans are so good at killing because they can't feel. Guess what? Machete ninja fighting and killing your uncle's entire squad of henchmen is not some new, gentler humanity. Let's see another series. I'd watch it.
  3. So, we're seeing fireworks while we also see Amanita and Nomi in bed. After, she says "talk about fireworks!" Thanks, show. I never would have figured out what you were going for with that complicated visual metaphor.
  4. Maybe our conceptions of time are too rigid. Maybe the sense8's can transcend time in a way that we can't really understand. Or maybe just enjoy the song. I thought it was a well-chosen song and a good way to express their connection. Music stirs the soul in a way that conscious thought can not.
  5. It's like Philip Glass Koyaanisqatsi
  6. Ethan tried to drive out of town in the very first episode. The road out of town doubles back and leads into town. It's all an illusion. The better question, posed above, is why Ethan doesn't use the sheriff's remote control to open the garage door in the wall.
  7. Yes, whoever the entity is that is running the town gets supplies from outside of it. We saw the big warehouse. I meant that the actual cash supply of WP would seemingly be fixed. No one is bringing cash to town. No one from town is spending it out of town. That's why it doesn't matter that they use counterfeit bills. The bills are really incidental. It's a lesson in monetary theory in a way. I wonder if the people who do have stores in town (there must be a food market of some sort, there is the Biergarten as well) operate under the illusion that they are buying things from legitimate suppliers in other towns. Do they call these suppliers and TPTB have people on the phone pretending to be the dairy in Boise or the Budweiser distributor or the like? Or do they just not ask questions when the trucks show up with supplies?
  8. Agreed. It's for the facade of normalcy. Plus, they're just passing the same counterfeit bills around the town. It's a completely closed system. I imagine that the needs of the citizens get met one way or another.
  9. But you do have to wonder if the town dentist used to be a plumber or something.
  10. That's my theory, too. People are being kept in some sort of suspended animation for different periods of time. That's how Kate is 12 years older. And Beverly thinks its 2001. Also, why there are no calendars. No need to confuse people. I think Ben is just playing along, not really being brainwashed. But that's good enough for a town like WP. As long as everyone plays along, it doesn't matter what people really think. That's the essence of totalitarianism. Also, that is what schools are about as well. Get to minds of the young and it doesn't matter what the present generation thinks. "Give me four years to teach the children and the seed i have sown will never be uprooted" - Lenin
  11. I think that the time line where Ethan woke up is different from when he disappeared. Kate really is 12 years older. Ethan has either been out/suspended animation/something for a long time or he has been re-booted a number of times and has never been able to "come around" to life in WP. Remember Beverly said that she "always believed" him. Like this wasn't the first time he woke up in the woods and stumbled into her bar. The wife and kid have also been suspended somewhere for a while. Their encounter with the sheriff and their "accident" happened twelve years ago. Hence the dust on the car. Why Ethan is special is still a mystery. TPTB want him in town and keep giving him chances. Really! They know he tried to escape and he is still free to wander around. And he's got to be a really bad secret agent if his time spent "on the run" consists of him going to Beverly's house and to the death house at 604. The two most likely places for anyone to go looking for him. Just stupid. Since the entire town is being supplied in bulk from some sort of big warehouse, I imagine getting a new flavor of ice cream would be a big deal. For me, the show was less compelling this week than the previous 2 episodes.
  12. So, Phil's in purgatory and Carol is the angel who will help lead him home. That's the only thing that makes sense to me.
  13. Well, that tied everything up in a neat little bow. It seems like they are racing through the plot this season. Just like that a huge company decides to renovate an entire decrepit neighborhood and change its entire plans on a new headquarters? I feel like they wanted to say something about Google and privacy, but that, too, just sort of went nowhere and ended in Perd's court. Remember when we thought it was Ice Town all over again? That drama took all of 3 minutes to unravel.
  14. I wonder if we are going to see Labia this season. I mean besides on Matt's kid's drawing of a frog.
  15. I loved the "beef milk" gag. Leslie was completely unreasonable about building apartments near her park. The park was only the size of one lot, remember?
  16. I got the feeling that their agent was feeding lines to Carol and Helen about what to say to Sean and Beverly. She wants to get paid, after all. After the earlier meetings, she knew what they wanted to hear. I'm thinking Newlywed Game. It's definitely game show music from the 70s.
  17. But you still have $31 million...
  18. I hope there is a second season. And please don't make Kate pregnant!
