  1. This is why I can't drop the cancer/some other disease treated with medical marijuana theory. Max giving Helen the pot lozenge, the out-in-open smoking and the full-frontal bangs on that wig Maura wears in the Schiff scenes (it makes an appearance in episode #202, btw). I get the feeling Helen wants all her kids taken care of in case anything happens to her, therefore she does not want an incompetently run trial and/or prison. In that case getting a shark to handle Noah is the best way to go.
  2. I thought they were insinuating Helen has cancer (and if Maura Tierney is willing to play it after what she's been through cheers to her) but can't say for sure. I'm hoping this season moves a little quicker & am also looking forward to Cole's POV. From what I've read it seems Richard Schiff has a fairly big role which pleases me to no end. Hopefully Toby can shake some of Noah's bs loose.
  3. This is one of the things that sets my hair on fire about Bethenny. She's always been surrounded by money: Florida boarding school, party life with the Hiltons, first wedding at the Four Seasons, a handbag collection that would buy me a house. On the first season she stated that she was down to $8,000.00 in her bank account, not realizing most people never reach that bank balance. Whether she earned the money herself or not, she's never struggled. I just can't with her Worst Childhood Ever, followed by the Lifetime sequel Worst Divorce Ever. As far as Richard's letter to Dorinda, maybe the balloon sent it?
  4. I was dreading Denis Leary's characterization of an aging rocker but he's won me over once again. I really enjoy watching his need for relevance (and/or self-destruction) being outweighed by his cranky GOML attitude. His reaction to the Irish potato famine opera is just as entertaining as his banter with his bandmates trash talking other bands. Also, casting Kelly Bishop as mom made me seriously happy. I know she has substantial stage experience, but the photos/headshots from her early career they showed? Just gorgeous. I really want to like Gigi because Gillies' voice is amazing, but her character just bugs. I also squirm at the required Weekly Update informing us which base Flash has reached with Gigi.
  5. I agree, Bannon. I've really liked Paula Malcomson's performance the past few episodes; it seems like her character is really blossoming now when she's given the opportunity to take care of people. The exceptions: steering Bridget towards her teacher & basically not knowing where Conor is or what he might be doing. However in defense of Abby I don't think any of us care what Conor is doing. Also, yay to no Paige. The casting of Katie Holmes seriously distracts me from the rest of the show. I watch her and wonder who she had dirt on in order to get the role. Putting her next to McShane does her no favors either. And on a superficial note, I thought Malcomson looked radiant in this ep, Theresa looked fab in her wedding dress, and (as always) Ray can really wear a suit.
  6. Man, I loved this stuff when I was a kid. I remember my childhood being haunted by a (most likely irrational) fear of the Hope Diamond. The graphics are everything and make me want to find the vhs tape of "It Don't Come Easy" that my dad made for me in 1978 after the Yankees won the series. With the cheesy (literally) block lettering, multi-manager cam and Thurman Munson, I believe this masterpiece (yes I said masterpiece) would actually stand up quite well for a re-watch. (You'll know you're in the 70's when one young man proclaims watching the Yankees take the pennant is equivalent to 'winning a date with Jaclyn Smith").
  7. So it wasn't just me who noticed some funkiness with the cannoli? And being coy with the cannoli is just another reason for me to loathe Judge Judy Rollins. I really liked that character when she first came on the show. Now, not so much. And am I the only one who wonders if Uncle Elliot sent baby Noah any presents? Seriously, this is the crap I think about. How much time can it take to film a Netflix series? Meloni can't show up for two-parter, breathe through his nostrils and stink-eye Barba who will respond with a witty retort? Next week: Lydia. Rodarte. Quayle. Yay!
  8. The way the first bar scene was cut I totally thought it was a fantasy or a memory. Now that might be partly because I haven't watched The Shield in a long time so it's been a while since I've seen Brian White; he looked familiar and I kept thinking they brought back Columbus Short or another actor to play him for a flashback. I thought the writers were doing some retcon how he became a gladiator. My problem with Lena Dunham is the same problem I have with her on Girls. I just don't find her engaging at all, I don't see her connect with any other actor she works with and she annunciates like a child in what appears to be an effort to sound cute. Her casting was just distracting. And of all the speechifying, Abby's was the only one that rang true for me. I am starting to hate-watch this show. Bring back smart David Rosen (not the replicant that has evidently replaced him), scenery-chewing Cy, Mellie and some good COTWs. Please?
  9. The only good thing about the final 'reveal' was seeing Melinda Warner (btw, Dick Wolf - still waiting on my L&O spinoff with Tamara & Leslie Hendrix). Also, Barba's checkered pastel tie was everything.
  10. I wanted to "Thank" this 50x just for the last paragraph. I needed someone else to process the Olivia-RJB scene for me. So what, is Noah just hanging out in an iron lung somewhere?
  11. So much this. I live with my brother and I'm lucky - once in a while he will talk out certain situations with me that have happened to us at the hands of others. But most of the time I end up struggling alone trying to figure out other people's behavior that leaves me gobsmacked. I am so very sorry about your loss, SnarkKitty
  12. Dude I have one of those too! And a few more on my back due to revision surgeries. I'm with you - I don't show my scars off so I didn't really relate to Amber's 'photo shoot', but I have a feeling Amber would proudly call in a professional to photograph her first post-surgical bowel movement if she knew it would get Jim more on-camera crying time.
  13. It says something when fictional children make you elated that you had to have a radical hysterectomy. Here's one thing that bugged so maybe I'm misremembering? In Noah's version (where he was the hero in the choking incident) Allison pocketed the marble when it rolled on the floor. But she didn't do that in her own version, right? That seems an odd detail for Noah's view, no?
  14. What's a rogue demon? Nothing else quite cheers me up like the Angel Dance. And Wesley's mooning over tiny reubens.
