  1. Eve seemed more comfortable and talkative today and I'm pretty sure that's because you-know-who wasn't there to hog the conversation with her phony Mary Poppins voice. I think she's back for tomorrow and Wednesday unfortunately. Unless I missed it, I'm glad they didn't mention Charles Manson today. The less said about that creature, the better.
  2. Wendy was at her best during the show's first full season. That was back when audience members had their say during HTs, but Wendy was able to get through several stories with fairly accurate information and it was nice hearing opposing viewpoints. Now it's all focused on Wendy yakking on and on about how much she doesn't care about certain stories and she's only doing it for the viewers, insulting her producers/crew and getting sidetracked. She could do better, but since she's got the viewers and a check, she's fine with doing a half-assed job. I still watch, but barely pay attention.
  3. I highly recommend it! And thanks for your recommendations. It's about time I get something new to read.
  4. I wasn't sure if I should post this here or the all episodes thread, but last Friday Mama Braxton did an interview on Ricky Smiley's radio show and spilled even more tea about Vince and the alleged abuse: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yS5Xze88kgU.
  5. I've read that book twice and like you said, it's depressing as hell, but also chronicles a part of the Holocaust that was left out for too long. I'm rereading another WWII memoir The Flamboya Tree by Clara Olink Kelly. She and her family spent four years imprisoned on the island of Java by the Japanese. Her mother was a strong woman and how she got her children through that hell was inspiring. It should be a movie. Like Paradise Road.
  6. I don't think Eve frowned on Nicki for simply using her sexuality as a marketing tool. It was how far she went with it. I do remember Eve having a sexy image, but (unless I missed it) nothing as thirsty for attention like what Nicki displayed in that photo shoot. People keep bringing up the fact that Eve was a stripper and had a sex tape, but 1) she was a young and dumb teen when she stripped and 2) that sex tape was released without her consent. I'd call her a hypocrite if she'd clutched her pearls like she's walked on water all her life, but she simply gave her own opinion (which she's now being paid to do) without demeaning Nicki. I never really paid J.K. Simmons much attention before, but is it me or is he really attractive? And not just in the "shredded Santa" photo. The kid from the Wonder movie is such an adorable lil' nugget.
  7. I gotcha. :) Yeah, Eve said someone leaked that tape behind her back. It's mortifying enough knowing that you willingly slept with a rat fink like Stevie J, but having video evidence that's easily accessible to the masses is another level of horrifying. *shivers*
  8. She was playfully teasing her though. Thanks, rcc. :) Today's show was boring, but I sat through it anyway. I don't know if it's nerves, but sometimes Eve looks like she's not sure if she made the right choice by accepting the job. Hopefully she gets more comfortable soon.
  9. Aside from Hoda Kotb, are there any people of Middle Eastern descent on daytime? Thoughts on day 2 with Eve?
  10. It's a phrase used to describe a light skinned black person. Like patty1h said, it's not exactly a slur, but since Wendy's gotten in trouble for making idiotic comments about race, it'd be best for her to steer clear of those "jokes". I can't remember what the topic was that made Wendy call her that though. And why is she so bothered by Terry Crews using the word "African American"? The man's talking about being sexually assaulted in front of his wife and she gets her panties in a bunch over him not using the word "black". Oy.
  11. MMM MMM GOOD! I'll gladly take him over Suzanne's screeching any day. Speaking of which, did you guys catch Wendy calling Suzanne "high yellow" last week? "You're black, Suzanne!" Keep on talking, Wendy and you'll mess yourself up again...
  12. I think that's it. When Eve guest hosted for a week on The Real last year she received a lot of positive feedback and maybe The Talk's producers thought they might entice some of those viewers by hiring her. She'd be better as an occasional fill-in. Garcelle and Carrie Ann were the better choices.
  13. I've heard that voice on their Halloween episodes, but have no idea who it belongs to though. When they showed the silhouette of the new co-host yesterday I thought (and hoped) it was Garcelle's and while I'm bummed that it's not her or Carrie Ann, I do like Eve. I think she'd be better suited at The Real though. She hasn't put out new music in a few years and the last movie I saw her in was on Lifetime a year or so ago so she'll have the time to host this show.
  14. I'm bummed about it too. Does VH1 really need more Love and Hip Hop and Basketball Wives clones?
  15. My episode guides don't feature any of the guests or guest hosts this week, but I'm guessing we won't see Garcelle for another week or so? I did see a promo for Ozzy and Jack as guests Wednesday. I don't mind Jack, but if Ozzy starts mumbling on and on about Sharon being the love of his life and the other co-hosts kiss their asses, I swear I'll scream. Lol. Monica reminds me of a reverend sometimes, but it's part of why I like her. She doesn't need to jump around and make a show to get attention and when she shares her opinion she just shares it and if folks don't agree with her, that's cool. She's laidback without being boring (to me).
  16. If The Real ever decides to hire a fifth co-host, I'd love to see Eve or Monica get it. Carrie Ann taking part in the Halloween show has me thinking she's got the job too and I'm glad (she also deserved the award for the best performance). I just hate that Garcelle can't be hired as well or at least be a fill-in host like Carnie or Pat Harvey.
  17. Am I the only one who thinks Wendy and Dolores look alike? I'd gotten away from Fashion Police not long before Joan's death and stayed away after the patchouli mess happened. That whole thing was blown out of proportion. It was sweet justice when karma visited her so-called friend with the purple hair a few months later. I did watch a minute here and there when Nene and Margaret Cho joined, but it didn't hold my interest.
  18. The rapper Eve is guest hosting tomorrow and Wednesday and Carrie Ann is back for the Halloween show with Terry Crews.
  19. It was over ridiculously over the top and like Apprentice said, there was definitely a racial element involved as well. Justin was the one who exposed Janet's breast, but got off scot free. He even pointed that out in an interview a few years later. The birthday tweets for Sheryl were sweet, but even sweeter? No Sharon for the last few days. I'm looking forward to the Lip Sync Battle show they put on every Halloween, but Julie needs to be someone other than Madonna for once and it would be nice to see Sheryl be a female performer instead of a man. I can totally see her as Missy Elliott. Alas, no Aisha to be Grace Jones. *sniffle*
  20. I meant to say she wished she'd spelled it Kiera so people wouldn't make the mistake of pronouncing it "see-air-uh". Either way, it's a beautiful name. Don't you hate it when people add all these unnecessary letters to their kid's name? Their name is Britney or Brittany, but their parents throw in extra t's and i's and e's and part of a social security number. What is up with Sara sitting next to Julie again? Please pick a seat and stick it with it, producers.
  21. That reminds me of a co-host on a similar show in the UK called Loose Women (no, they're not a bunch of harlots! ;)) who named her daughter Ciara, but it's pronounced the Irish way: Keer ah. People get it wrong all the time and now she wishes she'd spelled it the Irish way to begin with. Michelle is guest hosting again on Monday and Tuesday and Mario Lopez is filling in on Tuesday so I'm guessing Julie's gone (finger's crossed it's Sharon, but it probably won't be). Wednesday Carrie Ann and Boris Kodjoe fill in, but I don't know about Thursday and Friday.
  22. That's what she claims doctors have told her. I remember reading somewhere that she didn't speak until she was about 4 or 5 so maybe that has something to do with it too. If she could change her voice I'm sure she would. *shrugs*
  23. Gerard Butler's voice and accent make me weak in the knees...
  24. Michel'le. She's a singer from the late 80's/early 90's and has two kids fathered by Dr. Dre and Suge Knight. Dr. Dre beat the hell out of her back in the day. As for her voice, she talks over her larynx so that's why it's so squeaky. Her singing voice is really strong: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMQ5b9sSF_0.
