  1. Love ❤️ both of these ideas. You need to be stunt writer who parachutes in to fix lame plot lines!
  2. I’m glad the saga of Stephen Bonnet is over. Let’s clear the decks for the real action! If they were trying to make him greyer in this episode by sharing his orphanhood, it was unsuccessful with me. They should have done that earlier. By the way, why do men like to dress women up before harming them? Is that a real thing or just a tv trope? You kidnapped me, but gave me this beautiful dress, so all is forgiven! At the time, I was cringing when they didn’t kill him immediately. Our team never seems to learn lessons. Death by drowning seems a very James Bond Villain method... I was ok with the end. I don’t think Roger was judging Brianna, but rather that he was genuinely curious. The attempted murder of Jocasta shocked me. I was not accepting that. Yay, Ulysses! I was literally chanting his name as he came to the rescue. I was really worried that she would die and he would be accused of 2 murders.
  3. Your analysis was interesting, but I found this part to be rather inappropriate.
  4. There is a reason the last episode has as its title the name of the original series...and I think you just described it. Carrie turns into the monster she started the series trying to kill
  5. Wait, who else was on True Blood? And I wonder if Chris Bauer is a fab and wanted a role before the show ended
  6. I thought the casting of Ben Savage as young Saul was inspired, but I did not realize it had happened before. They should have just let him speak, but perhaps he is not good with imitating voices. I am actually pretty excited about how this will end. Will Saul sacrifice himself or will Carrie somehow do that? I have a hard time believing she will betray Saul, but I could be wrong. Their relationship represents her last connection to her humanity, since her child has been long forgotten. My somewhat silly wishlist for finale: Saul brings the English teacher to the US and they get married and live happily ever after. Carrie is killed by Russians (a sacrifice for Saul and America) Dana Brody, recently graduated from college, and gets hired as a CIA analyst . This could also work for Franny in time jump Saul’s ex Mira turns out to be a Pakistani asset A virus infects the world and makes all this spying moot
  7. 1. Glad to see Fergus can still speak. 2. Very glad that someone remembered that Fergus lost a hand and has been very courageous about it. Someone should have mentioned that last week, along with his rape, but this is acceptable. Would have liked to see interaction between Jamie and Fergus, though. 3. Glad to see Jamie’s disdain for Roger appears to be finished. 4. I think this episode would have worked more for me if I believed for a second they would kill Jamie or make him lose a leg
  8. I enjoyed the show but found Stella insufferable. Forcing your husband to go into business with your lazy, drug dealer brother? Thinking you can support your family as a barista? This is not a knock on Lucy Hale, who was luminous and charming, as usual. I do think that the arrested development of Lucy due to her illness was to blame. And how can anyone possibly be attracted to Dr Grant, when he’s the type of man to insistently hit on a married woman? Diego and Peter were my faves, followed by Wes.
  9. I hope we get to see what became of the Brody family.
  10. I think that this is Marsali’s third pregnancy. We previously saw her second pregnancy
  11. I actually think it makes perfect sense to be conflicted about the CIA. Very rarely are institutions (or people) all good or all bad.
  12. I thought that this episode was well done. I literally cried during the suicide bombing sequence—very well directed IMO. Glad to finally understand Yevgeny’s interest in Carrie—she is the only person on the planet to whom Saul would possibly reveal his source. Even if they captured Saul himself, he would probably withstand the torture and die before revealing his source. Carrie, however, is his weak link, and has been proven to be torturable. (I know that’s not a word) I am assuming that the man to whom Saul was speaking is his mole. Jenna is the worst and was clearly meeting the exchange to prevent a comment on record that might lead back to her. She really needs to have a heroic death to rehabilitate her character.
  13. Book readers, I am annoyed by the fact that Fergus has barely said a word in season 5 and has had no plot development for a couple of seasons. Does he do anything in the books? No need to go into a lot of detail, but I am trying to decide if I want to continue the watching and this particular issue is really annoying me. I am wondering if the reason is that he is not actually in Book 5.
  14. Not Claire’s fault in my opinion but perhaps it refers to taking risks during her pregnancy and not listening to Jamie when he asked her to be more cautious
  15. I hated the silent picture device! I hate the way they are treating Fergus. I actually might not continue to next season because of it. Why not just kill him if they won’t give him any lines? It’s even worse now that Ian is back. They could have easily had him say something at dinner . Plus his history of having been raped and had his hand cut off would have been useful in this discussion of trauma. I am actually quite annoyed by this situation. Sophie Skelton has a lovely voice. is this the first time we’ve heard her sing? Nice to see Ian. I am guessing he witnessed some sort of massacre by his Mohawk family. Kinda tactless of Marsali to continue tarot after getting the hanged man.
  16. I am going to steal this phrase and find a way to use it in a casual conversation.
  17. I am curious—do you come here before watching the show? If so, why? Meh episode. I was mainly wondering if those ladies in burkas were somehow protected from COVID 19 by their veils.
  18. Late to the party with this show but glad someone good came from COVID-19. Love this show, especially Janet and Gill. I appreciate Janet’s interview methods and I think I can apply them in my own work. I hated how she repeatedly gave up chances for promotion, but that is very realistic unfortunately. I appreciate how Gill did not hesitate to hold people accountable, but was also genuinely interested in them. Rachel is insufferable IMO, and I think Nick was right about her drinking and hygiene. However, she does have a charm about her too, mostly from her competence. She is dreadfully immature, though, and I laughed at her outrage at the ribbing she received as a new Sergeant. She wasn’t exactly respectful to Rob when he joined the team. She did get a personality transplant before season 5, so that was helpful. speaking of Rob, I wish they had developed him more. I do think the show portrays almost all men and idiots or jerks, and Rob and Sean were few exceptions. I liked Andy was disappointed when he went south. He and Janet had great chemistry, which isn’t always true with real-life couples. It is realistic though that some men refuse to take no for an answer, and allow it to interfere with professional relationships. I would have liked to see Kevin mature in his personality and some of the others in their capability, even if the leads remained the strongest detectives.
  19. In spoilers in case other people watch it
  20. I was actually reminded of Will Ferrell’s character in the Austin Powers movie in which he has to be “killed” multiple times and suffers an agonizing death
  21. Birthday scene and subsequent shirtless Jamie felt gratuitous...and underlined the fact that Sam looks too young. Of course, Roger is not dead. Bet that Morag’s husband or one of his cronies stole his nice coat. But I found the episode title to be too ironic for my taste, given that they kept Roger out of the battle. RIP Murtagh. I am glad we had you for as long as we did. This will be the trigger for Jamie and Claire to lead the American Revolution. They will be the new George and Martha Washington. I guess we knew this was coming after scene with Jocasta, but he’s my second fave character to die today (referring to another show) so I am a little sad. Glad Bree brought up the potential impact to America if the Regulators succeed. Also, since Sophie gets bashed quite regularly on this forum, I am going to go on record as saying I like her In this role.
  22. Just watched On Demand with Verizon. How does the president not know that Max is CIA embedded with the troop deployed to get to Warner’s crash site? Just an adventurer? That was a fail on Saul’s part if he didn’t let president know about that much. I get not letting him know about the black box until they had it. RIP, Max, you deserved better than this world gave you. I did appreciate Carrie’s recognition of her selfishness. I bet she couldn’t say a single personal thing about Max— she only knows what he did for her. So Jalal’s only taking credit for the attack? Interesting... I was hoping for Carrie and Saul against the world, but I guess that is not happening.
  23. I think more likely they are Jalal’s peeps. However, Jalal’s question for Max about who shot down the plane surprised me. Does he really not know? Tasneem always wanted peace but resented being left out of the process. The only problem is that now I am confusing her previous plot lines from Scandal with Homeland! 🤣 I’m not even joking. I think it’s not super unusual to have a funeral with an empty casket if the body is irretrievable (e.g., drowning) since it’s more for the grieving folks anyway. I do like that the new Prez called out David Wellington. Finally showing backbone. I am kind of hoping Carrie sacrifices herself for Max or Saul. Just did a rewatch of S1E1 and she was kind of a jerk to them. I like the idea of Hugh Dancy being on his wife’s show for the final few episodes.
  24. Agree with everything you said. Gods of casting, can you please give Maria Doyle Kennedy a role where she gets to be happy? Catherine of Aragon, Mrs. Bates, Jocasta...all suffering and unhappy. But I wept during her monologue. And the death of Morna was terribly tragic too. (She mentioned that her daughters died in a fire. To what was she referring?) She is truly an underrated actress. Sex scene of Jamie Claire was tedious, not hot at all. I actually could live without sex scenes in the show, though I enjoyed season 1 a lot. The issue between them seemed contrived. Glad Roger got a win! And he shared credit. Sweet! My dream ending is if they somehow pass Bonnet off as Murtagh and get him executed and Murtagh gets to come out of hiding.
  25. How has Jenna not been fired? Unless the station chief Mike is a double agent who deliberately placed his least competent person on Carrie so Yevgeny can do his job. But why put the person who JUST LOST Carrie on the job to escort her out of town? Unless you secretly want Carrie to remain active... I don’t know if Ben was fooled; rather G’ulom was voicing what Ben wanted to do all along...so it made it easy for him to ignore his (or rather the previous POTUS’s) peeps. I was proud of Saul too. Unless her job is to let Carrie remain at play... So here is my theory but I will put it in spoiler tags so that my speculation can be ignored
