  1. I based my response on your statement that said something to the effect that "letting go and letting God doesn't work." It sounded like a pretty direct condemnation. Your assertion that AA shames it's members is in opposition to all of their teachings and traditions. Shame and resentment will get you drunk and keep you sick. I'm surprised that, as a counselor, you would dismiss a program that is certainly one option for sobriety. I think perpetuating an idea that "AA doesn't work" is damaging to everything a 12-step treatment center tries to accomplish. For the record, I am an agnostic. As I said, AA saved my life.
  2. I just celebrated 20 years of sobriety in a room full of people for whom it is most definitely working. I respectfully invite you to do your research as to what "they say" in AA. It never claims to get people to realize they are an alcoholic, but for those who are ready for a new life, it is invaluable. Never have I felt shamed. This organization saved my life and I'm always bothered when people (based on extremely limited experience) dismiss it as ineffective.
  3. I'm fascinated by this. So what are her choices now? Does she just accept that fact that she's not going to heaven? Or does she join another church and try to get in by following their "procedure?"Topic Title: Maddie: No Celestial Kingdom For You

  5. No they looked like they had lost very little weight. And could they please send that poor grieving mother to Punta Cana instead?
  6. I totally agree I have never bought that Anna knew in advance. That only serves to further the Duggar narrative that Josh was so guilt ridden/repentant that he had to disclose this terrible secret to his potential bride. I don't buy it. They would never have taken the risk of Anna rejecting Josh once she heard this story or even of her repeating it. OR...I just don't think they thought the whole incident was that big of a deal (they've demonstrated that often enough) and certainly not serious enough for someone to think any differently of their precious Josh. He was forgiven, after all...
  7. I just came from reading a lengthy Facebook post/replies from a guy (never heard of him) who wrote that he defended Josh over the molestation but now that the new scandal has arrived he feels he was wrong. A lot of fundie defenders in the comments but there are definitely a number who feel that molestation was bad, but forgiveable, yet porn and adultery is just going way too far. First I'm disturbed that this seems to be how they prioritize these sins (but it seems to be that they are upset over the fact that he hasn't repented from the molestation after all) but it was interesting to note the number of Christians speaking out against Josh. Definitely detected a turning tide... I also noticed a large number of comments (a few on this board as well) regarding Josh's "sex addiction" and need for rehab. I'm a recovering alcoholic myself so I have no question that many people suffer from this, I'm just not sure that's a cut and dried diagnosis. No snark - wondering what's the basis for this conclusion from so many people. Isn't it possible he's "just" an adulterous scumbag who jerks off to porn?
  8. Exactly. How would she have worded it if she WAS kicking her out? Pretty sure it would go something like "please leave."
  9. Ahhh, hadn't thought of that but yes. I think maybe women around my age (38) prefer an older, distinguished man. And let's face it, the years haven't been as kind to, say, JZ as they have to FH and KW.
  10. My theory on this is that our ideas about who we find attractive changes as we get older. I never found WK, TR or IB attractive as a kid - they weren't even on my radar like Stone, Jason, Lucky etc. Never found Ned attractive until this go-round.
  11. I feel like it has to be planned for the reunion the editing made sure we at least heard (can't remember if we saw it but they definitely captioned it) both Heather's comment and Eddie's (several times now.) This had better be trotted out to highlight the Dubrow bullshit. I like Heather for the most part but her and Terry looked like they were going to start foaming at the mouth at Vicki's. So utterly embarrassing.
  12. Tracy looking around to see if anyone is watching before she opens the laptop to talk to Fluke: as if ANYONE else lives there. Heh.ETA: Oops uh Ned burst in. My bad. :)
  13. If we're going to talk inappropriate comments made at the hoe down, what will Heather have to say about being caught saying "turn it up" for Tamra on the mechanical bull hmmm? Tamra got "hurt!" Unforgivable?
