  1. I think a salad Nicoise would have been more local than a Caeser salad.
  2. Yes, it is a Belgian dish that is often on the menu in cafes and brasseries. It's an easy meat and potatoes dish and people love meat and potatoes.
  3. But you also seem to think steak frites is the epitome of French Mediterranean cuisine. So mileage may vary.
  4. Yes to both, but my point was since Jack sucks neither scenario was great. Taking Jack wouldn't really be a boon and leaving Jack in charge of the exterior would be stupid.
  5. But Joao didn't know when deciding who to leave that they were just going to jet ski. There's been issues before with something coming up unexpectedly and no deck crew around to handle it -- Cpt. Lee grumbling about not a single swinging dick on board comes to mind. Of course Sandy probably would have just given one of her shitty pep talks since that seems to be her M.O. aside from Hannah and her one coke. I don't care who Jack is fucking with, I want to punch him almost every time he talks. Maybe it's the experience of having to deal with insubordinate and lazy employees in the past that colors my view and also knowing the frustration of not just being able to fire a shithead for being a shithead but having to waste months of time and effort building a library of documentation.
  6. Hannah only bows out of the excursions that require lots of work. She's more than happy to weasel her way into visits to bars and cave tours when the guests have requested a specific stew that isn't her (the infamous 1 Coke excursion). I'm not a Sandy hater, but the bulk of her decisions seem to be driven by production. I'm not saying this is Hannah's fault, but Joao really had no options. Taking Jack would have been useless -- he does no work, and leaving Jack as the only deckhand on the boat could have ended in disaster. Was Hannah really complaining to Travis that she hadn't stopped all day on the day that she spent hours playing in the water? Or was it a new day and I was confused? I agree that it is shitty that they were up so late, but I feel like maybe it wasn't the day to complain about how hard she'd worked. I really didn't think the guests were that bad. They were entitled but in an oblivious way, not a demanding way, and were generally very nice and grateful for the service (small tip not withstanding). They might have run Hannah all night, we didn't see it, but she was complaining about it, but it seems like it was just them being crazy and all over the place, not being mean and demanding. We didn't see a single complaint from any of them. I'm another that can't stand the sound of Aeisha's voice. Her laugh-talking drives me nuts. I'm not going to spend the effort on shit talking Jackoff. He puts in no effort, so why should I? ETA: Watching the first 2 seasons of Love Island UK has really improved my ability to understand Jackass when he talks.
  7. One time I did that to a fish 😞 I was in a car accident and was dead out in bed for a week. When I could move again I went to feed my betta and he was a little skeleton because the little shrimps or whatever I had in there ate his body. It was kind of traumatic. The Queen is really not even that bad, she's actually pretty nice about everything, but is unpacking really something people that are not Ramona Singer and this lady have the "help" do for them?
  8. None of those are things normally found in the bathroom, at least not mine. Maybe loofah or a shower poof or a back scrubbing brush. I think those could have all been cool in glass because of the textures and shapes.
  9. Have we ever seen a chef hit the local markets before? The lamb dinner looked amazing. The problem I see coming is it seems like Anastasia gets really frustrated with the rest of the crew standing around in the galley flapping their gums. She's pretty focused and no-nonsense and stressed about doing a good job, so I can understand why it bothers her. But I don't think the rest of the crew has the respect for her as a chef to treat the galley as hers and follow her rules in there. There's also the fact that Travis keeps complaining about how tired he is pulling double duty, which I don't know that he is actually, but any extra work he's doing is because his best mate Jackass is a lazy fuck. If I were Travis, instead of sticking up for Jackass I'd be flipping the fuck out on him. Travis and Jack are both disgusting and I'm not looking forward to this double date.
  10. Because it hurts like a mother fucker and isn't worth it?
  11. I don't like Deborah, but I am entertained by her delusions of grandeur and inept shit talking.
  12. I think maybe it just goes on the floor until it cools down enough to go into a receptacle to avoid surprise fires. I'm not sure though. I've always been mesmerized by glass blowing. I love going to the Tacoma Museum of Glass and just sitting in the hot shop and watching them work. One of my best days was when I went to Murano and Burano (I a deeply involved in fiber arts, so the lace galleries of Burano are also magic for me). It was a really expensive day though 🙂 When my parents die I get a glass sculpture that cost nearly as much as my car. So needless to say, I am into this show. I agree with all the criticisms though. I want it an hour long and a little more like old school Top Chef, but without the off duty scenes. I want a "quick fire" where they all work on a technique followed by the more open ended brief, more shots of them working, I want a more involved "judges' table" too. They probably didn't think it would be popular enough to invest in an hour long show though.
  13. Really, what they said isn't any worse than what a lot of posters here have said about Hannah. I don't think it's that she's a slut, it's that she reeks of desperation. This is probably a true statement because her desperation chases them away.
  14. So do I, but for me she hasn't done anything too odious yet this season. I live in California. When I order iced tea I expect to get iced tea, not sweet tea. In fact, it never crosses my mind that I will get sweet tea except in the South. I'm more likely to specify the type of tea I'd like (green, black, infusion, hibiscus, etc.). But I won't drink bottled or canned tea because that shit is gross, so maybe that's a case where you need to specify? I have seen canned Lipton in Paris, but if I'm having tea in France is Mariage Freres, and mainly in France I'm drinking wine and water, unless I'm at a tea house or I specifically see a tea I want on the menu. I don't think I've ever had tea in the Med, but I recall seeing tea bags available at breakfast, I can't recall if I've seen iced tea on menus there or not. You forgot the blond creeper from Tahiti. He was really good. I still stand firm on Travis and Jack both being creeps. Hearing them talk about Hannah further cemented it for me. I also don't like Travis' firm stance on backing up Jack no matter what even though he knows he's a lazy ass. I would hope none of the girls get with them, but Travis is fairly attractive and we've already seen that hard up Hannah is going to be all over it. Jack acts like he's being funny but him bringing the ladies a drink in his underwear creeped me out. It was probably innocuous, but he just makes my skin crawl. Anastasia's food has all seemed really heavy. When I'm in the Med at least 50% of my non-breakfast food is seafood. But I have eaten lasagna in Italy in the summer before because I knew it was going to be amazing and I wanted it (and it was so freaking good), so I get that people want what they want sometimes. She is doing an excellent job of providing the guests what they want. I don't know if what she's serving would live up to my expectations, but she'd be a lot closer than Mila. However, I don't need necessarily need something too fancy to impress. Something like a salt crusted branzino looks impressive, is amazing with fresh caught fish, and is fairly simple to make. Any grilled fresh seafood is going to make me happy. Any of the fresh delicious produce of the region minimally prepared would work. Actually thinking about it, I could be kept happy with simply prepared items as long as the ingredients were all top notch and super fresh. Of course if I was jet skiing and playing in the water all day I might be really hungry and want a bunch of heavy food, so maybe she knows what she's doing.
  15. But crab claws are generally edible. Some people prefer the claw meat. I can't really make coffee because I don't drink it. I can go through the motions, but I have no idea if it's good or shit. Of course I also don't say I'm a trained barista on my resume.
  16. As a female that has worked in that industry in Los Angeles for 20 years, in my experience, it is exaggerated and not true to life. The things you deal with are generally far more subtle and insidious.
  17. Would she hang it beside the naked photo of her mom that she got for her bridal shower gift?
  18. I'm in California and we're kind of our own extreme little entity, so mileage may vary, but I always notice people smoking more when I travel, especially when in Europe. Hannah should be thanking her lucky stars for Travis and Jack, they are saving her the lazy edit this year. Those two are always just standing around gabbing and never actually working. Jack is worse than Travis, but both are bad.
  19. Honestly, it's probably not worth the time investment. I was stuck on my back sick and had nothing else to do. I'm not 100% certain the writers watched season 1 before writing season 2. It seems like maybe they just read a synopsis. The larger plot all tied back to season 1 at least in an overarching way, if not in the details, but I feel like characterizations and relationships didn't. Season 2 was okay, but left me feeling like the show was super ridiculous. I'm not sure I'll watch season 3 if there is one, and I definitely will not go back and watch 1 & 2 to make it make sense.
  20. I went to watch season 2 and ended up having to rewatch season 1 because I was confused and just rewatching 1.9 and 1.10 wasn't making sense of it for me. So now my hatred for Nick and Alice has been rekindled. What a couple of dicks. I think Nick wanted Emily to be evil so he didn't feel so bad dropping another woman into her life and replacing her so easily. I'm not sure if Alice felt guilty or was just an entitled dick. I'm sure I'm giving the show more credit on this than it deserves and it really isn't that deep or layered (not that these thoughts are incredibly deep). Now on to season 2.
  21. You really think he inherited more than he makes on appearances and various other VPR related things? Basically, the majority of his income is probably 1099'd. When you get paid like that taxes are usually not taken out and it is your responsibility to file quarterlies and pay.
  22. As a regular person, I take offense. Mila's Mexican dinner reminds me of the time I stupidly got a burrito in Amsterdam. They used BBQ sauce (like Kraft style BBQ sauce too, not anything fancy) in place of salsa. I should have known better, but I'd had alcohol poisoning the night before and just wanted some comfort food to soak up all my sickness. I can spend $1.50 at the gas station and get a better taco than she put together. My sister, who brings Rice-A-Roni still in the box as her Thanksgiving contribution, can make a better taco than Mila.
