  1. I think the solos are a way for girls to show their performance abilities in their comfort zone. It reveals personality and style in addition to skills. And aside from show group, they do take advantage of abilities for special performances such as Halloween and the pink ribbon halftime. In Halloween, Jen Kat, Kinzie, and Sam were clearly featured with some strong moves as the center with others doing something else.
  2. After talking over the show with my mom, I realized why I have become so frustrated with this show. Years ago, the unconventional and teams were held until later. We got to see how these people design with actual self selected fabrics (and not for dashing around stadium seating in MSG in 5 minutes) and real challenges (design for this woman or for this inspiration). The gimmicky or drama-added challenges were held off as a lets see what the top people can do and after the judges got a real sense of their pov. Blake making that dress (OUT OF MUSLIN) after having done the same style for 5 weeks would be smacked down. Let the designers get used to the time crunch before making them have to go McGeyver already. See who they are as individuals before making them work with partners. Just IMHO
  3. Forgot one of my favorite chuckles...when hair and makeup guy called Blake out for preening himself instead of focusing on his model's look. Hee hee.
  4. Was it last season that Judy and Kelli said no more maybes for veterans. I do think it seems odd to go with an unknown than a proven vet, but if a vet knows the terrain, she needs to bring it I do wish they gave Kelsey a shot...she is beautiful and a good dancer. But not knowing Jerry Jones was the kiss of death.
  5. In defense if Ashley, I think she thought it would look and move differently than it did but was also too overwhelmed and lost to scrap it and try something else.
  6. I will start by saying that I really like Jasmine...as a person. She seems like she has all the qualities of a great team member and friend. However she has never been a strong dancer. I think she has been given negative criticism every season because of her dancing. And if she knows it isn't strong, she then knows she needs to dominate in other areas. If she took a breath in the interview and said, "wow. So many questions to ask him" it would have served her better than the default "yikes, I don't know" look. She looked beautiful this season though Danielke is a tough, strong female with a sharp wit. I think Kelli has always liked that about her. And after almost not making the squad two years ago and losing jasmine, calling her first may have been a way to soften the sting. I was surprised they didn't show the vets reacting to the cuts as they do every year. It must have been so painful. I may be in the minority but I like Madeleine's look. The previews, however, seem to show her at practice without the heavy makeup of the others and she looks washed out. Still, I think she's pretty I am not a Colby fan but I do know when you live somewhere for a while, you do/ can pick up the accent or patterns. I used to tease my best friend that she must have secretly been born onLong Island because so many of her college roommates were from there. She sounded like an Island girl within three months. Liked Courtney in episode 1...now she is turning into the Chelsea camera hog of the season. And as for Breelens interview, you should be prepared for all style of questions as to why you love being a DCC, what the team means to you, how it has changed you, best experience, etc. and if not, fake it better. Can't wait for first practice!
  7. I didn't read Blake's comments about setting up the machine as rude...I think it WAS meant to be grateful if Swapnil did set up the machine for everyone. I thought he got irritated and impatient that Swapnil didn't understand the question ...am I wrong? I may have to re watch that exchange. And I too was waiting for a penalty on the muslin of glitter. How in the heck did that meet the expectations of the challenge?
  8. Aside from Blake whom I hate, this seems like a very sweet group of designers.
  9. My questions tend to lead to off topic discussions. But thank you all for explaining the prop rule to me. Bi remember either Judy or Kelli said in an earlier season (4 or 5) that props can be used to hide weaknesses and after Danielle's injury I thought they were eliminated altogether. I was just surprised to see a prop again. I just watched the twerking segment and saw unfortunate shadow but not pit hair lol I'm having to re watch the episode because I'm having difficulty telling the difference among several of them. So many similar looking blondes. I completely agree with many of you who said Christina's kicks did look better...I wish they showed the left too. I wish Ashley learned to dance more fluidly in two years. I don't see any difference. L On one last observation, in the clip they continuously show of the kick line from last year, someone down at the far right is very low and very tight. I wish I could figure out who it is.
  10. I didn't remember the heels...thank you!
  11. I thought the singing audition was added after Jordan's year...no? And that it was in addition to the dancing, not in lieu of...
  12. I thought there were no more props for final solos...where is this ball coming from?
  13. People are delusional...and aspirational. Just as hundreds of tone deaf individuals flock to American Idol for their chances to be the next singing superstar, I believe many of the weak dancers or out of shape girls who have auditioned truly believe in making it. The granny from season 6 or 7 seemed to be on the bucket list group though --just doing it for fun. I wish they would have an episode of the vets getting ready for finals...it may be more revealing about how well they pick up the choreo, etc. this season in particular it may be helpfully revealing.
  14. Pistachio woman reminded me of a character on In Living Color...Miss Swan I think. I am glad Ashley won...I just hope she uses the win to fuel her confidence. Often times we larger people feel insecure in a group, expecting that people expect little from us and it can be hard to feel you have a place in the group. I think that may also explain the abundance of tears. An unconventional challenge next week already? I hope this doesn't turn into the show it was last year....too many gimmick style challenges and not enough to show if the designers can actually make clothing from their own selected fabrics And I too was laughing at the no frill/ no name style wall. Next year all accessories will be hand crafted by Heidi's kids from their arts and crafts classes. macaroni necklaces go with all styles. ...I miss the days when designers chose their models. One of my favorite quotes: "it's a mother ***** walk off!"
  15. The French bear was too drunk to do any real damage Smh.
  16. Ennui.... I thought that too when that whole scene started....that she was connected to Chloe. Btw, I LOVE your username!
  17. I'm beginning to think the animals' master plan is to cause a little havoc, sit back, watch humans go nuts and kill each other, then cause a little more havoc to start the process again. Still waiting for the rhino to attack the a$$**** who tried to poach him. I'm not going to forget,Zoo...please get on this. Really thought owls were going to attack Jamie and Lou when I heard all the hooting...but no. More stupid humans. On a random note, I love that they used a commercial to support the cause of stopping the poaching of animals. RIP Cecil.
  18. The only performance video from last season I saw was the Halloween one and Jacie was the center. Samantha (who left :-( ) and Kinzie were focal points in that; I wonder if Kinzie will move up too.
  19. I cannot think of any weak vets this season...Jasmine was the only one I recall getting corrections on the show as a vet of those remaining.
  20. Even with a budgetary restriction, I personally felt just before the final squad was announced that they would have a great squad with 32 by eliminating all of the risky / on the bubble dancers. Don't get me wrong....some girls can and do improve, but then there are others like Kaitlyn and Morgan or Breelan.
  21. I guess they didn't take anyone on the bubble...like Breelan, Ashkey, or Morgan. They leaned down the squad (no pun intended) for the strongest dancers, I think.
  22. Awkward for sure, but it may be a way of telling her that the friendships she forged remain in spite of the cut....??
  23. First, I for one am so glad this show deviates from the HORRIBLE novel on which it is based. I wasn't going to even watch this until my mother shared bits if the pilot that clearly deviated from the text. Second, I LOVE this forum. You are all hilarious. Seriously; sell tickets- this group is comic genius
