  1. I chalk it up to HGTV's standard manufactured conflict scenario. It must be required on every show and they think we can't function without it.
  2. When this show first started I watched with the expectation that the audience was supposed to find at least 1 person to root for. By the season's end I realized that, at least for me, everyone was despicable in some way, and I stopped watching for a couple of years. Now I'm back, probably since my faith in so many things has been destroyed and seeing these characters fuck each other over so thoroughly provides a kind of catharsis. There is no one here who deserves my sympathy, not even Taylor; but then Taylor would be the last being to ask for or expect anyone's sympathy.
  3. It happened to me! I knew the moment I first saw him that he was indeed my husband; we married less than 6 months later and had 34 years together until his death. Wendy wanted Chuck to mirror Axe's devotion to her, but he let her down once again(in her mind). Kind of like comparing an exciting love affair to a decades long marriage. Such imperfect humans!
  4. Well I must be the only person on this planet that kind of liked the show! I liked the interaction between Christina and her friend, it was nice seeing Izzy again, the finished kitchen looked good, as did the "gifted" outdoor space. There are plenty of HGTV people who I loathe and I watch very little on this channel nowadays, but Christina doesn't bother me at all.
  5. Jo was arrested at the end of "Blind Spot" and sent to prison; Bobby knew exactly where she was. Declan was at Goren's mother's funeral, but they probably didn't interact enough for Bobby to notice him acting weirder than usual.
  6. One of these places just opened where I live, a small city in upstate NY. It has alcohol but no food, and coaches are available.
  7. I hope the show gives us an update of the tax preparer case. Over $800 seems like a lot to pay for an individual return, plus is it even legal to confiscate someone's refund like the defendant did? Final plaintiff may have been stupid not to check the car title before paying, but the defendant was a total idiot and couldn't have cared less about supplying a working title. What a putz.
  8. Oh Fran, you disappoint me! Trump himself has said/done a lot worse and his minions think it's wonderful; she should have owned her remarks. After all, Bill was saying all through the show that Dems should act more like The Others (can't really call them Republicans anymore) and fight nasty.
  9. Bingo! Very well stated! If the defendant had agreed she said what plaintiff alleged, there might have been some money returned. But her denial and the "as is" clause sunk plaintiff's case. I'm glad the poor horse wasn't euthanized and can enjoy his remaining days free of plaintiff's company. Apparently California has a puppy lemon law, but not one for horses.
  10. Disclaimer: I have absolutely no legal training. However, a quick Google search brings up many links to proofs that written contracts can indeed be modified orally in many cases. Since this is small claims court and the parties involved are not expected to have legal expertise, maybe intent or state of mind would be considered by the judge.
  11. I swear that every other phrase today's first plaintiff spoke was "you know". She drove me so crazy I had to scream at the tv, and was very disappointed that MM didn't tell her to cut it out.
  12. Good article! Seems like Alison is not only incompetent, but also an asshole. And HGTV lies about their programs.......what a shock (not).
  13. I mainly enjoyed it as a salute to "Schoolhouse Rock". It seems unbelievable to me that a strong liberal-leaning woman like Diane would be married to Kurt. He was a big supporter of Sarah Palin when they first met and now apparently embraces Trump, and he cheated on her & lied about it. Keep him as a fuck buddy if you can't do without it, but marriage? Their basic values are too different.
  14. I couldn't understand him either, but thought it was just because I was playing an iPad game while this was on. Glad to know it wasn't just me!
  15. Exactly! The whole "9th St. Women" scene was going on - Lee Krasner, Elaine DeKooning, and others. Doesn't Rose read the art section of the Times or visit any galleries? Or is she just waiting for Abe to hand her everything on a silver platter, as he did with access to classes. She doesn't know any women artists because she doesn't know any artists, period.
  16. I totally agree with every point you made. Plus, it somehow escaped her that the defendant didn't call the tow truck, he called the police who then called for a tow. When I've been in this situation either the police or someone from the city (not NYC) parking authority has to come and evaluate the scene before any cars get moved. So plaintiff should have hashed it out with the cops, but probably just wanted to stick it to her neighbors because it's her street and she'll park where she likes.
  17. I think she meant the Lifeline Assistance free/low cost phones for qualified needy people, like those on Medicaid or Section 8. The program was actually begun under Reagan. I too bailed on the family phone feud, and actually enjoyed cleaning moldy condiments out of my fridge more than listening to MM play therapist. Can't we have a moratorium on phone cases?
  18. The uncomfortable part starts with the "foundation garments" one had to wear underneath those clothes. Rubber girdles (including long-line panty girdles to wear under slacks) were horrible, and for many years a woman who went without one was considered just one step above a hooker. The bras were pretty armor-plated too.
  19. Not in the 1950's. It's estimated that the apartment would have cost around $460,000 to buy then. Midge's family is well-off, but that would be out of their range; so we'll have to chalk it up to the old "willing suspension of disbelief".
  20. But you missed the indignant defendant who thinks the judge should take into account her dog's temperament, reasoning, and feelings when deciding a bite case. Plus her dog never gets out. Plus plaintiff kicked her dog trying to stop the attack while she and fat biker-type guy just stood there. Like JM said, it's everybody else's fault but hers. SMH
  21. Yeah, if Steve the Putz just wanted to have a boy's club why did he hire those women in the 1st place. And why are those women staying? Former GM Cat has been demoted twice; why on earth is she putting up with that bull.
  22. Condolences on the loss of beautiful Frankie. The picture made me cry too, and hug my cat Vivian extra close.
  23. I SO agree with this - had to briefly change the channel because nothing in plaintiff's tale of woe made me feel the least bit sorry for him. I reserve my sympathy for those who are truly deserving.
  24. The plaintiff's adoring girlfriend should have spent less on her chest and done something with her hair and face. It's not nice to say, but I found her very unattractive. In fact, I imagine the plaintiff in drag would make a prettier woman. And yes, I am going straight to hell!
  25. Just who is the target audience for this show? AV is spending $600k to over $1million on these "rehabs"; do people with that kind of money to invest in flipping really watch HGTV for ideas? She doesn't have any new or interesting ideas, and although she does have experience I'm not impressed with her expertise. I would be more inclined to watch if it were condensed into 30 minutes.
