  1. Thanks, that's very interesting. I like that it's a name connected with her family, even if it's difficult for me to pronounce (from the spelling, anyway).
  2. I remember them from my childhood, but for some reason in my memory they moved from France to one of the Scandinavian countries. I picked Sweden....sigh.... That's cool! I have a sort of second hand Merv Griffin story that's not so pleasant (in my mind anyway). When I was a young teen, my cousin was on his talk show because he'd released a record with Motown (my cousin was quite white, btw) Merv treated him like a southern hick (which to be fair, he was from the deep south - about which his sister used to say in a deep southern drawl "There are only 3 southern states - Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia") πŸ˜‚ Anyway, being the teen I was, I held a grudge against Griffin for a long time. I got over it. Growing up changes things. Still don't love him, though. It wasn't before my husband's time, and a little bit of my time, and neither of us had ever heard that before. Square I remember quite well. It was kind of a crap game for me. I had a lot of cognitive paralysis (tm @ProudMary)
  3. Me too! It was for me too - I'm a touch younger (not by much) but the space program was always a big deal to me. I was astonished that no one got it. Not that the answers were terrible, but I would have expected someone to get it. It was as insta a get as I've ever had.
  4. I hadn't a clue when it came to that one, but the mister just rattled it off like it was no big deal. Kinda ticked me off... It occurred to me, after reading this, that she's exactly what she should be as an ER doc. Calm, not particularly expressive on the outside, while her mind runs a mile a minute figuring out how to help the patients that come in.
  5. I will be using "cognitive paralysis" in the future - it describes exactly what happens to me. Thanks!

If someone else wants to take it on - have at it!
  7. Me too. Except for archivist. I usually hover over links like "here" - or any "hidden" link to see where it goes to - works just fine here.
  8. Just yourself is fine πŸ™‚ Seems to me like truly not knowing them is the best of excuses.
  9. Week 33 – April 22 – Two Asterisks 161. *20th CENTURY AUTHORS - Best known for a novel, she wrote at least 6 full-length plays & collaborated with Moms Mabley on a 1931 Broadway revue (Zora Neale Hurston) 162. BUSINESS - In the 1850s the .925 sterling silver standard was instituted by this company, the first American one to do so (Tiffany) 163. HISTORIC TRANSPORTS - Decorated with an illustration of the Montgolfiers' craft, the smoking room aboard this could be accessed only via an airlock (The Hindenburg) 164. *STATUES -The 42-foot-high statue of Athena in this state capital is the tallest indoor statue in the United States (Nashville) 165. U.S. GEOGRAPHY - At 14,410', it's one of North America's highest volcanoes; a Puyallup name for it can be translated to "bring the water" (Mt. Rainer) 1/5 for me this week. Tiffany - totally thought it was wrong, but viola!
  10. In a weird coincidence, we watched that very episode on our local Fox channel last night. I'm happy to say it never entered my mind. But neither did the Hindenburg (though the mister got it). I must confess, I've had a few - but then again, a few too many.
  11. My first thought was Wells Fargo, then I went with Tiffany, which I thought was very, very wrong. It was a nice surprise. Same here regarding CERN. As someone who worked in tech my entire career (and was working when the first emails started - I'm THAT old), I hang my head in shame.
  12. As others have said, EVERYONE deserves cake (and ice cream), and those with a zero week deserve it even more. dankeschΓΆn, Dankesean! I ended up 2/5 with no *. But that's an improvement. So I'm good with that.
  13. Thank You! As I was finishing it up to put on the forum, I thought, should I double check? Clearly my answer was no. Wrong answer! πŸ˜‚ PS - For once the Thank You icon seemed to cover the response for me - thanks, boy am I embarrassed!
  14. Week 32 – April 15 Regular Jeopardy – Two Asterisks 156. GREAT BRITS - From 1689 to 1690 & 1701 to 1702, he served as a Member of Parliament representing the constituency of Cambridge University (Newton) 157. *WORDS & THEIR MEANINGS - Churchill gave a word a new meaning when he called for a "talk with Soviet Russia upon the highest level... a parley at" this (summit) 158. ORGANIZATIONS - The press called the donations received after this org.'s 1938 founding "a silver tide which actually swamped the White House" (March of Dimes) 159. * ALPHABETICAL AMERICA - Until Alabama became the 22nd state, this one was first alphabetically (Connecticut) 160. COMIC BOOK CHARACTERS - Featured in a 2020 film, she gets her name from a 16th c. Italian stock character who often wore diamond-patterned outfits (Harly Quinn) Edited because there were two * - and I neglected to double check. Sigh...
  15. My favorite album ever. I saw a community theater performance of it when I was a teen, and have been hooked on it ever since. Yeah, that was a head scratcher.
  16. No, but basically attacking him verbally the first time they meet him - knowing he's the nephew of their friend - doesn't exactly make them great guys either.
  17. So's Peter Frampton's. πŸ˜‰ I can't find the clue - but I remember the One Night in Bangkok answer. Despite being old I remembered the title. Just looked it up on YouTube. I remember the video, and I don't hate the song. It's kinda catchy, imo.
  18. Thanks, and I think the longest correct streak is a good idea. So I'll be calculating: the longest 0 streak overall, the longest 0 streak since the TOC, et al the longest correct streak overall, the longest correct streak during the TOC, et al. If anyone objects to being included in any category, send me a message. Aww, I'm so sorry. I still miss our dog who used to clean up the floor when we dropped food. Especially, for some odd reason, dried pasta. He loved dried pasta.
  19. So close... So close too... I only knew Frampton from his solo years - and never knew anything about him or his background. Just that long curly hair 😘
  20. Esposo and Esposa sound so much nicer, though. More romantic. 😊
  21. Hey folks, remind me of what date/week I should use for the start of calculating the 0 streak champion(s). I've forgotten amid all the tournaments and such.
  22. No apologies necessary. Glad to get my spreadsheet filled in. πŸ˜‰
  23. And given this was one of those extremely long cruises, I'd expect even better facilities (and doctors).
  24. Thank you. I'll keep a note of that.
  25. I have to agree that these days, it certainly is the best of the ones I watch.
