  1. 0/5 This week's chart (excepting a few smarties) is looking like binary code at the moment. 😆
  2. Week 25 – Feb 26 – TOC Week One – Two Asterisks 121. ART HISTORY - The Royal Academy of Arts has this man's "La Fornarina" & in the 1800s the RAA's love of him made some artists retreat to an earlier style (Raphael) 122. MILITARY HISTORY - A prototype of this craft was deployed in August 1955; it made headlines in May 1960 (the U-2) 123. *1950s POLITICS - In 1959 Bob Bartlett & Hiram Fong each won a coin flip to gain this alliterative title (senior senator) 124. WORLD TRAVEL - The name of this service that began Nov. 14, 1994 echoes the Étoile du Nord, which linked Paris, Brussels & Amsterdam from 1927 (Eurostar) 125. *COUNTRIES OF THE WORLD - Fearful of independence in 1975, around 120,000 of this country's people, a third of the population, fled to the Netherlands (Suriname)
  3. I was crossing my fingers. Guess that superstition didn't work. It was an awful episode, no doubt. I think every bit of Nathan's age looks mighty fine. (not a grandma)
  4. and...you passed it on. LOL. Fortunately, I don't mind having lollipop in my mind.
  5. I decided I loved Luigi when he determinedly said "sci abbr" for the science abbreviations category. I know they're now told to say the entire title - but I think the others would have said "science abbreviation" - made us laugh every time he chose it. Resistance is futile - (where have I heard that before? 😉), and it's much more relaxing to embrace it, I find. Some of it sucks, but some of every age I've been has sucked, that's life. Also, being old is a superpower - people continually underestimate you and invisibility has its bonuses.
  6. I don't remember Jake, though I laughed at his game face. I was pulling for him, though. I wasn't smug - impromptu came to mind for the first part of the clue, but I thought it had to be wrong for the second part. Surprise! I'm no fan of Yogesh, but he did shake hands at the end. At least with Jake. I'm not a hugger, myself. Only close friends and family. So when I see it on Jeopardy I think "oh, they've become good friends" and that makes me happy to see. But Yogesh, whatever we may think of him, is unlikely to have made good friends, so I found him shaking hands an improvement.
  7. I was shocked too. I expected to do well in 70s Rock - but didn't get a one, as they were all bands I didn't pay particular attention to. Then, to my annoyance, the mister got every single darn one of them. 🤪
  8. Well that brings back some happy, early (very) childhood memories.
  9. Awww, man. I was earwormless - and look what you did! 🤣
  10. It is very nice. Even before the pandemic, I don't remember much hugging.
  11. Now, a table for one with attendant kitties would be awesome! At this moment, Tfor1 is hosting nearly 50 percent of the participants. It was a difficult week, people! I'm curious to see if we'll top 50%
  12. You're in good company this week (myself included). At this particular moment in time, the Table for One is the largest.
  13. Trust me, 20 years from now you'll remember how young you were this year! Ah...so I have an excuse! LOL.
  14. Not sure if it's his choice, or the best he could come up with. Not everyone can do spot on accents, no matter how talented they are at acting. I don't mind it, myself, despite the fact that I tend to be highly critical of accents (Scott Bakula's in NCIS New Orleans drove me crazy enough that I couldn't watch - and I love Scott). PS - In regards to Cricket's death. I was watching The Irrational and they killed off a character, and I had the opposite reaction. He was the love interest of the main character's ex, and they had absolutely no chemistry and he was dull even outside the relationship. So I cheered that one. LOL.
  15. Week 24 – Feb 19 – One Asterisk 116. CANADIAN MEDICINE - Nova Scotian William Knapp Buckley devised a widely used antitussive, meaning a drug used against this (cough[ing]) 117. PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS - He's the most recent presidential candidate to have officially declared his opponent in that campaign the victor (Al Gore) 118. 19th CENTURY AMERICANS - In 1896, 15 years after a famous showdown, this man was accused of fixing a championship boxing match (Wyatt Earp) 119. *ON VACATION IN ITALY - About 30 miles from Florence, a little hill gives this tiny Tuscan town its name, familiar to American visitors (Monticello) 120. FRENCH AUTHORS - Trained as a priest & a physician, in 1532 he published his first novel under the pen name Alcofribas Nasier ([François] Rabelais)
  16. I do too, but then I grumbled that she still doesn't seem to comb it.
  17. I have a folder for each day of the week with links to specific sporcle quizzes (generally themed by continent). My husband and I compete each day with Wordle, Quordle, and Octordle. He's much better than I am. He likes crosswords and other types of puzzles that I can't stand, so this is where we meet in the middle. (for fun, we also do Heardle - 50s-90s.) Being short sighted, I agree that they'd blur and someone could come up with Mary Lou instead. Did give us quite a laugh on our couch though.
  18. This is the actual link (I added an "s" that shouldn't be there) I like it because I find I do better memorizing stuff with maps than I do with lists. I seek out the maps on this site - there are plenty of list quizzes as well.
  19. I don't normally talk back to the TV - especially when my husband is doing something else in the room. But as soon as she was running, I said "oh, no don't do that, show!" and a moment's relief when she slammed the door shut, and then the horrible explosion. At that point I yelled a bunch of expletives. That amount of emotion is unusual for me. She was so great, and they had amazing chemistry - not tortured soul chemistry. I really wanted her to be part of the show, because she just shines on camera, whatever she's in. I'm really ticked, and my husband is a little amused I was so vocal. As for Ormwood, whatever he was in the past, that scene with his wife was really moving on both parts - well acted.
  20. And apparently strategize with the police.
  21. I wended and wound up with the wrong one. I only read one Louis L'Amour book and it is in my reading hall of fame as the first book I ever wanted to edit while reading it (not a Hopalong Cassidy book). Only a megastar writer who refuses to let her work be edited stands next to him. Having been a writer, I learned that though editing can sting, it also teaches you to be a better writer. I use Sporcles. It's definitely upped my Geography game.
  22. She did smile during her interview, it lit her up. I think she may a serious face when she's concentrating. My daughter is kind of the same. We didn't either. If they'd said "certify" instead of "officially declaring" we might have gotten there. That must have been pouring salt on a wound to have to do that...
  23. Maybe you saw him in a different role - I first saw him in Early Edition. Also he was in Super8 and a bunch of other stuff. It was a Nova Scotian doctor who invented(? they said devised) a widely used cough medicine so that's where Canada comes in.
  24. He was the first "Southern Politician" I thought of (though the field is much larger - Carter, Clinton, Wallace, Thurmand...and the list goes on to current ones).
  25. For Week 22 I have your asterisks (very exciting) - so I know you have at least 2/5, but I want to make sure your count is right. So let me know if you got more.
