  1. Bermuda to France: Catching up on viewing - I think this was earlier this week but I don't recall seeing any comments on it, maybe because there was no drama. I thought it was interesting their desire to have a small b&b and that his dream was to offer baking lessons and open a bakery. I admire them for saving up and then to take a chance and live their dream. All three choices were interesting places. Lovely area. I hope he succeeds but I had to laugh that last scene was of them lounging in the yard not working on his renovating the barn into a bakery.
  2. Thanks General Days for the indepth recap. I only lasted about 5 minutes and was just so disgusted, discouraged. I still want to go thru the TV and throttle Eddie Glaude - Mr. There's No Difference between Hilary and trump. Still think that Mr. Glaude?
  3. I wasn't paying much attention this morning to my tape of the show but I sat down as Elise was doing her 180 from last week when she thought Kavanaugh's tirade showed he didn't have the temperament to be a Supreme Court justice. Now she's all what about his poor wife and family, blah blah blah. I loved when Donnie spoke up and what he said. I think he stunned everyone - or Joe just didn't let anyone else respond to Donnie. Joe did what this show usually does when someone speaks against what everyone else was saying and ignore it - although in this case Joe made some joke? before moving on. Then it was on to everything is the Clinton's fault. I stopped and erased the tape when Joe was yammering about how the Democrats are only on the East and West Coasts and don't reach out to anybody in middle US. I remember reading that the counties/areas Hilary won contribute something like 75$ of the GNP (I can't remember the exact number) so tell me Joe why isn't this important.
  4. For me it moved beyond did he or didn't he. I think Susan Del Percio head the nail on the head - this man does not have the temperament to be on the Supreme Court.. I don't think it can ever be proved it he did or didn't but it can be proved he's lied about his drinking. But that speech he did blaming the Democrats and the Clintons was beyond the pale for a nominee to the Supreme Court. Joe and Mika are ridiculous on this whole thing - how many sides can you take? They don't want to admit they think he should be confirmed so they seem to agree with whatever any one else says, pro or con. I think a nominee to the Supreme Court should have to be confirmed by at least 80 Senators. Maybe then we'd actually get justices that decide on the law and not politics.
  5. I am a big fan of the original Magnum which I watched when it originally aired as well as numerous reruns. I'm not sure why they did a remake instead of just doing a whole new show. The show was just too rushed (none of the laid back style of the original), no reason to try and pack all the regulars and semi-regulars (Lt. Tanaka) in one show and over the top (yeah as my car goes over a cliff I'll grab onto the helicopter hovering above.). I didn't think it was as bad as many on here did, I'll try a few more episodes but it's certainly not must see tv. As a resident of Hawaii I love the scenery - which is a big part of why I'll watch.
  6. Just catching up. Santa Barbara to Bressanone: I had read the comments here before watching the show. Somehow I imagined Aleca was a young girl so I was shocked to see she was an adult. She was annoying. One of the worst things I've seen on here was that when touring the one apartment she put the dog in a baby's crib. I wouldn't want her to put the dog on my bed let alone my baby's. With the way they were talking about how remote the 3rd place was I thought it would be a farmhouse in the middle of nowhere rather than an apartment building in a small town. So I just don't get the whole routine of how would you meet people in such a place. Canada to Stockholm. Why would his teaching job require him to be married or have proof of living together for at least 2 years? THey were both very immature and the marriage seemed based more on his job requirement than actual love/commitment. What did she do all day? No mention of working or studying. I would go nuts living in that tiny place and can't image living with another person there.
  7. Just catching up on some episodes: Canada to Utrecht: Very weird showing of the houses. All we saw was the kitchen, master bedroom and 1 or 2 other bedrooms. Caught a glimpse of the living room? from one of the kitchens. And in one they entered into dining room (and maybe living room) but they only talked about/focused on the stained glass window and then zoomed to the kitchen. No bathrooms shown. In the 2 months later (or whatever it was) they showed the husband sitting a table working on his computer. The daughter certainly was speaking Dutch very well and I thought the mother spoke it but there was no mention of their knowing Dutch prior to the move but I don't see how you'd learn that language in 2 months.
  8. Something that I forgot to ask in my earlier post. Was the girl that went to Blaine for his help with Lydia Lydia's daughter? I thought I heard her call Lydia Ma in an earlier scene. Funny how quickly she responded to his idea of going to bed - what about helping Lydia. Also I noted how she quickly asked for 30 guineas - didn't Charlotte get 300?
  9. For a moment there at the end scene of the women entertaining the culls I thought they were in Golden Square. During the Fallon death scene I thought he was going to stab Blaine (maybe just wishful thinking). This season has been very good. Interesting story lines, some great scenery, beautiful clothes, and heartbreaking story lines. There could definitely be a third season
  10. Solothurn couple: The two apartments with the beams were very odd. It was like those beams were just tacked up here and there with no purpose. Almost anyone would be hitting their heads on some of those beams. I did chuckle in the one apartment w/ the spiral staircase (and another one which didn't look like it had a railing) that there was no mention of how dangerous it would be for their two year old son. I'll admit I was surprised that they went for the low cost apartment - but it was the most practical - no beams, huge rooms, great views of the mountains and not just rooftops.
  11. I wasn't expecting Margaret to confess which was stupid to do especially if Amelia lives. Margaret thinks with her heart rather being logical. She isn't cold and calculating like Quigley. I think Charlotte trying to choke Quigley was just a gut reaction. She's much like her mother. I can't stand Lucy and I don't really care what happens to her.
  12. Not sure if this goes here and whether or not it's considered a spoiler. But I was curious as to how many episodes are this season and I found this:
  13. NZ to Paris. I didn't think the apartment she chose was so bad. I'd rather have the big living area - and that room was pretty. So I can see her choosing that apartment. Since I'm not familiar with Paris neighborhoods I can't comment on the location. The second apartment(at least I think it was the second one but it could have been the first one) with the rooftop views. I had to laugh when she said that's the view she wanted. I didn't see anything scenic about those rooftops. Sometimes rooftop views can be pretty, and even spectacular, but that wasn't it. Both the first and second apartments were really cluttered with furniture and especially in the second one made the living rooms seem small.
  14. I haven't watched the view in years although I started (again) reading this board a few months ago. Now that The Price is Right is in Reruns I'll sometimes watch the view if there's a guest I want to see. Started watching this morning and saw the bit about health care. If I had been Joy I woulda just gotten up and walked off. Meghan didn't let her talk. She's every bit annoying as you all have been writing on this board. I ended up switching aback to The Price is Right. When Meghan was going on about how do we pay for it, someone should have said how do we pay for everthing else? Run up the debt - that is if it's a republican president. I have an incurable possible fatal disease which currently is under control thru medication. I'm lucky I have good health insurance - retired Federal employee. There is one treatment that costs (you inhale this stuff 3 times a day) that costs $18,000 a month - luckily I'm not on that. I go to cardio/pulmonary rehab and was talking to one of the other patients there that has some weird autoimmune disease and she's goes for these treatmetns twice a month which cost $60,000 (luckily she has good insurance). I think people that are against universal healthcare are people that don't have or no one close to them have had a serious health issue.
  15. Charlotte and group need to do to some deeper thinking and planning if they really want to take down Lydia. I'm not really sure how the plan was suppose to work other than the guy get the poor drugged girl out before anything could happen to her - which doesn't really help them get Lydia. I guess they thought the black fighter was good choice since he's a good fighter but really he stood out too much in the bidding group. So does Lydia know Charlotte was plotting to take her down or just plotting to save the poor girl? In that last scene with Charlotte and Lydia when Lydia locked her in that bedroom, Charlotte looked so vulnerable. I think in this series she's much more forlorn and vulnerable than in series 1 where she seemed to be in command. Lucy is now bothering me. I don't really like the scenes with her and Lord Fallon. Has is ever been covered how/why Mrs. Scanlon?(Ameila's mother) became blind?
  16. I am surprised at the lavish sets/costumes of this show. That whole pleasure gardens scene must have cost a fortune. And Mrs. May's house was beautiful and nicely furnished - I wonder how she afforded that - I get that she was Quigley's father's "friend" but was he rich? I loved the scene with Charlotte and Mrs. May in that it gave us a view of the underdressing for those clothes. Who ever came up with the idea of that wide thing at the hip/waist to make your skirt billow out? During the pleasure garden scene I kept looking at Margaret's dress - well really those boobs - and wondering why those boobs didn't just finally pop out. That dress looked terribly uncomfortable. Another nice scene was the one between Margaret and the blind lady. Brought out the better side of both of them. Lady Liv's brother is totally creepy. I still think Charlotte seems totally lost this series. From watching this show I'm glad I didn't live back then.
  17. Surprised that there's so few comments on the new season. That was a pretty tough episode (I watched right after watching episode 1). I too had forgotten about the serial killer stuff. I should have watched the last episode of season 1 just to remember everything that's going on. Some general comments: Margaret seems to be losing her grip. She was much nicer in season 1. Liv Tyler looks like a giant compared to Lydia and Charlotte. Charlotte seems lost trying to keep in both worlds (her mother's and Lydia's.) Lucy seemed much more mature than last season. Jessica Brown Findlay is absolutely stunning. Somehow the makeup and clothes suit her.
  18. Glad you found this Lily H. I keep waiting for people to comment. I've seen this show when it aired in the UK and watching it again on Cinemax. I think it's a terrific show and don't understand why doesn't seem to get any attention here. I thought this story was the grossest of the three books so I was curious as to how they would handle it in a tv show. I think they did a good job. I had to gloss over some sections of the book. I've never seen the lead actor before but there is something very appealing about him.
  19. I am watching this mainly for the Swedish scenery. Liked that parts are actually in Swedish. WHile the story line is okay and I'll probably stay with it while fastforwarding through a lot of it is I don't like Dom as the lead character - I just can't buy him as a detective. Plus I'm so tired of the detective that knows it all/doesn't want to follow the rules/etc. If I were the Swedish police I'd send him home days ago.
  20. Those interviews with the 3 "preachers" was eye-opening and downright scary. Wish Stephanie had asked the one that went on and on about it being God's will that we follow/obey the president if he had the same views when it was Obama in the White House. And the last one (in North Carolina?) saying that trump is an honest man - ON WHAT PLANET is this a true statement? These interviews also showed that these evangelicals only care about the UNBORN. I liked Ratner this morning -he's getting bolder and calling trump's lies lies rather than misstatements or however else so many sugarcoat it. WIsh all of these reporters/commentators would just call lies LIES. I tape this show but some days I just read the comments here and then erase without watching. Other days I watch sections of it but Joe is just unbearable. He never lets someone finish their thoughts/sentences.
  21. Wisconsin to Dublin: His grandfather was Irish and so the guy was able to get Irish citizenship. She was very stiff. I wish we could get blurbs of 10 years later and see which of these couples are still together.
  22. Just watched the Seattle to Berlin episode. That first apartment was one of the strangest they have ever shown on this show. Living in an art gallery? That's not your art? Do people wander in looking at the art? Or was it by appointment only? And sure when you have children have them sleep in a separate apartment from where you're sleeping? The whole thing didn't make sense. While I liked the wife, Marty was too much. Hopefully his dismissal of the kids commute to school was just producer driven otherwise he's pretty selfish for a parent.
  23. I also liked the Zurich couple - him especially. She needs someone like him to bring her out of her shell. They were rather refreshing for this show - no unrealistic needs, no talk of needing a space for 100 to entertain, no need for a second bathroom for guests, etc.. Liked that he talked about their need to make friends especially for her.. He did seem to enjoy eating! The apartment was nice but I would have chosen the third one.
  24. Woman moving to Donegal: She was nice and I liked all 3 houses. But the backstory was certainly another shaky story. She's sold her business and moved to another country with no job, picked Donegal because as a tourist she met this woman who has become her friend (I didn't get the impression it was a romance) and wants to live out in the boonies. No mention of trying to find a job so is she going to live the rest of her life all her savings - if so that must have been quite some business.
  25. Oakville - just to see the type of stuff a company like Cambridge Analytica can do (and how they to it) you might want might to read the book The Whole Truth by David Baldacci. It's a fiction book but I had to keep looking at the print date (2008 I believe) because it chillingly echoes what may be happening today with companies like Cambridge and fake news/ manipulation of readers and elections.
