  1. Did they get multi-entertainment site and DC Comics announcements for those appearances, though? Seems like a lot of press coverage for a minor role and the casting of someone without a particularly high profile acting resume.
  2. Is the redacted script thing and the actors not knowing the full details of an episode the new storytelling technique they’ve been talking about, or is it more likely to be something else? I’m not entirely sure how it will go with the cast not knowing the full context of the story and how their scenes fit in. I wonder if it might lead to some tonal issues with scenes that don’t match up with each other.
  3. He can’t possibly be surprised that people were thinking he was out after S7. It’s not just that one podcast that kickstarted the speculation. He was floating the possibility of leaving when his contract was up since before S6 ended. If it was a negotiating tactic it worked for him if he’s agreed to stay on for a potential S8.
  4. Same. I gave up on The Flash and Supergirl at their mid-season finales so I can’t imagine rushing to watch three-ish hours of television where Oliver is the only Arrow character to appear. I know they’ve announced Superman, Batwoman and Lois Lane will appear but they aren’t really a big draws for me either.
  5. It would be interesting to see what happens if Emily chose not to come back or they didn’t renew her contract. Her popularity drives a lot of social media activity, which I imagine would drop off if she left. As it stands now, I don’t think the newbies can carry the show because their just not popular enough and I don’t think they could carry it with only Oliver still present on the show either. If SA wants more money to stay, would they need to look at cutting the number of season regulars to balance the budget, or would a producer credit be something that could give him more money and some control over the show (which I’m guessing he wouldn’t mind having)? * *Disclaimer: I have exactly zero knowledge of how any of this stuff works. :)
  6. The back half episodes where Sara was pushed into every plot, both past and present, was what turned me off the character completely. Those episodes were a chore to get through and I still don’t like Sara Lance as a character. It’s one of the reasons why I could never get into watching Legends of Tomorrow.
  7. I can’t imagine crashing through tables, even stunt ones that designed to break easily, would be at all helpful to the back problems and pinched nerves that’s he had issues with in the past.
  8. Not to be judgey, but Carina does seem to be more than slightly obsessed with all things Stephen. She randomly name drops him a lot on Twitter and Instagram. It wouldn’t surprise me at all that she’d drop Emily as a friend in a heartbeat if she ever had a reason to choose between them.
  9. I think one of the problems Stephen has is that he always seems to think he’s right, won’t seem to listen graciously to any other point of view and will not back down or admit that he might be wrong. It’s hard to believe that he may have been stewing on the Texas apology for so long, but it does explain why he was so determined not to apologise after the mosque debacle. One thing I see here is that there is probably a power imbalance at play between Stephen, as the lead actor on the show, and the crew members. He said in the podcast that people see him as “management” and it would be easy to imagine the crew would see him that way and not be inclined to go against what he wants. This little bit from the podcast also made me think of the tweet below. I know this was just a joke, but it could be viewed in a different light when you consider what he said in the podcast about seeming more difficult than he is and the overall working relationship with the crew.
  10. Stephen occasionally annoys me but I do appreciate it when he openly praises Emily’s performances. The show's PR generally has to be badgered 98% of the time into giving Emily any acknowledgement at all, so it’s always nice to see him offer praise so easily. It shows that they don’t need to give out detailed spoilers to get people excited about the new season. Something as small as praising a performance can do wonders for raising interest and drawing in fans to watch and see what happens, especially when it relates to Emily and/or Felicity.
  11. Having Oliver separated in a prison plot with bunch of “previously seen on Arrow” villains for at least five, maybe six, episodes wouldn’t seem, at face value, to be the best move. It makes me wonder what type of story they can mine from it that isn’t repetitive with multiple prison fights and occasional visits from Diggle. It also leaves them with maybe three episodes to set up the second half of the season when your factor in losing the mid-season finale to the crossover. They probably can’t leave episode 8 on a cliffhanger and episode 9, presumably, has to send everyone back to their respective shows and season storylines.
  12. Team Arrow would have to be as delusional as Quentin to believe the E2 Laurel is in any way “their” Laurel. The whole thing becomes even less believable when you consider that no one felt the need to try and redeem their evil Earth X counterparts on the off chance there was a “spark” of goodness in them. Oliver killed his own doppelgänger (and Quentin’s?), but sure, let’s for one minute think he now can’t tell the difference between the Laurel he knew and the one from E2, who didn’t shy away from brutally killing people (until plot demanded that she did). It’s kind of awful to think that “their” Laurel, who was supposed to be such a beloved friend and hero to them that they erected a statue to her, can be so easily replaced by someone that just happens to wear the same face.
  13. I really want to believe that they’re finally going to do Smoak Tech and I have all fingers crossed that it will also be Curtis free! However, their previous track record of false starts, stalling and getting side tracked by shiny new characters also makes me nervous. Part of me thinks that Beth wouldn’t risk teasing it if she had any doubt about their ability to follow through because of the potential backlash if it gets pushed off again. But, it also won’t surprise me at all me if we get the usual “we ran out of time” interview if the season doesn’t go according to their current plans.
  14. I have to admire Emily’s skill in managing to avoid appearing in any of the videos and photos that were posted to SM by everyone at the party. I would never have guessed she was actually there if not for the Just Jared article.
  15. On some level she must know that she’s only making things worse by responding to tweets she wasn’t tagged in, right? She’s stretching out the drama by continuing to engage, when if she just left it alone it would have started to settle back down by now.
  16. I actually hope Emily steers well clear of this and doesn’t get pulled into trying to smooth over the drama that Juliana has created for herself.
  17. I think Juliana would be very interested in securing a spin-off or at least a continuation on to another show once Arrow ends. To do that you throw your support to the person with the most influence and, unfortunately, that is not your sole female co-star.
  18. I think the lesson that was learned here is that there is clearly a vast difference between a proof of concept art department mock up and the reality of the beard on Stephen’s actual face. One looks “cool” and one ....does not.
  19. I’m sending positive thoughts out to the universe that Arrow is not adding ANOTHER supersuited hero to the roster. They desperately need to subtract from the ones they already have, not keep adding more in. Add to that, I’m kind of wary that a new mask will be all over every story and plot which, given the show’s history, usually means a character I like gets pushed to the sidelines. (I’m not quite at the stage where I fully trust Beth to do things differently). On the subject supersuited characters, has there been any indication of what storyline Curtis might have in S7? Curtis was absent from the trailer and the SDCC interviews with Echo and Emily didn’t reveal anything, but I’m not entirely sure I didn’t just tune out anything Curtis related. I haven’t really seen anything that indicates Echo is filming, other than being present at the 701 table read, so I’m wondering what they might be doing with him.
  20. Least favourite character should have been a multiple response poll so you can pick 1st least favourite, 2nd least favourite, etc. This may be the first time that I haven’t automatically assigned my vote to any version of Laurel Lance because there were so many other valid options. I still ended up choosing Dinah because all versions of BC irritate me greatly.
  21. Curtis swings between extremes of overly enthusiastic and overly whiny, there doesn’t seem to be a middle ground and both extremes are annoying. I’d also had enough Donna by the end of S4. She was way too much and I can’t say that I mind that her appearances were cut back. It’s kind of interesting how they get some characters so right and some go off the rails. It seems to happen frequently with the characters that they really want the audience to like (e.g. Ray, Curtis, Rene, Dinah). They end up pushing them too hard which has the effect of making them unlikeable because if feels like they’re everywhere (or at least it does for me). They didn’t try to push Rory forward because they knew he had a limited run, but that ended up making him extremely likeable and he was a great support character for Felicity.
  22. Was the beard his idea like having a sleeveless suit in a wintery Vancouver was his suggestion? I’m really wondering if the 10 year real life age gap is going to look obvious when Stephen and Emily finally have scenes together and that beard is still present. Both the clean shaven and full beard looks aren’t anywhere near as appealing as his normal Oliver Queen look.
  23. Are the Teen Choice Awards the ones where the winners are considered to be paid for by the networks? Is it possible that the CW would actually pay for Arrow to “win” an award now after what is, arguably, one of its worst seasons to date? And, I know this is a terrible thing to say, but Rick, Juliana and Echo would top the list of people I would least like to see accepting an award for Arrow. My dislike for their characters runs deep. ?
  24. For me, Arrow has so thoroughly botched the BC character, with its revolving door of replacements and woeful attempts at integrating the character into the show, that I just can’t imagine any circumstances that would convince me to sit through another version, even in movie.
  25. I’ve bought an iTunes pass every season, but I don’t think I’ll be getting one for S7 until I see how the season is playing out. There are maybe a handful of S4 episodes, two from S5 and maybe three and a bit from S6 that I have ever rewatched, which isn’t a good ratio for 23 episode seasons.
