  1. 1/5 for Monday. I was in the right ballpark for Wednesday and Thursday; never heard of Friday's book - will look it up.
  2. I didn't think crucifix should have been accepted either but I guess it was close enough for this tournament. For FJ I said Das Kapital, then asked my son what else Karl Marx wrote. Normally, he would have had this in an instant but he was suffering from brain freeze so neither of us got FJ. I was pleased enought that I at least had the right author.
  3. The money wasn't there. Hated the ending. How could that even happen, that the prisoner and the other woman got swapped out?
  4. //murdochmysteries.fandom.com Scroll down for the episode guide.
  5. 16/19 Whatever Happened to Abigail Prescott February 27, 2023 I almost didn't watch because I was worried that they wouldn't be able to exonerate Julia. So I'm glad I did watch; it was a very satisfying takedown of the alderman. And a great job by Violet Hart and the other coroner. At least the judge opened his mind up a little to allow the exhumation. Abigail's poor mother - she finally realized that it was her action that led to her daughter's death - very sad. I don't know if next week is a continuation of this story or a new one, but it looks like Julia might still be in trouble.
  6. Not an instaget FJ for me. I went with Ethiopia first, then second thoughts and 2011 told me it was Sudan.
  7. 0/5 I will bring old fashioned doughnuts with sugar and cinnamon coating.
  8. It was, at one time, but never that much and not for a long time. I know I get a little lazy about posting. I have lots of opinions about the episodes but sometimes it's just hard to get all my thoughts in order and make a post that is at least a little interesting and coherent. I really enjoyed the "pornography" plot. I like that they remembered Brackenreid is very arty, even being an artist himself. I'm glad they saved the artwork but Brackenreid was right to fire the cop who saved it. He just can't take the law into his own hands. The Julia plot was heavy going. It was hard to believe the Port Credit (now a part of Mississauga) police were so stupid or possibly crooked to think that Abigail's phone call in the middle of the night wasn't important. It is definitely not looking good for Julia although the verdict and sentence were actually a lot lighter than they had anticipated. Regarding remarks by some of us about the show needing to end soon, the last two episodes of the season are The Long Goodbye Part 1 and The Long Goodbye Part 2. I don't know if that has any significance about the show ending but it does seem a coincidence. Or maybe it's the long goodbye when Julia goes to prison. We will find out eventually.
  9. I said both, so I was covered. FJ was an instaget if they would have accepted "that guy who painted soup cans". But, they probably wouldn't have. I know his name as well as my own but it just wouldn't come to me. Ditto. It just seems so random and pointless.
  10. An ice storm knocked out our power last night so I missed Jeopardy! at my usual time of 6:30. Then the power came back on at 7:28 and I was happy to get to watch it at 7:30 - no such luck. Power went off again and stayed off until the middle of the night. Anyhow, I checked the archive just for FJ and did not get it. I might have got it if I had watched the whole game and was in the right frame of mind but that didn't happen so I am, sad to say, 0/3 so far this week.
  11. I also said Faulkner and couldn't think of anyone else even though I knew there were others I should know. But they wouldn't come to me. I got chapel and should have got Fallujah because I saw a reference to it just lately. Anyhow, kind of a boring game.
  12. When the house was first built there was a "microwave" room that George deemed suitable for baking potatoes (thus the potatoes were whole rather than cut up). Someone was murdered in the room either just before or just after they moved in. I've forgotten some details; maybe someone else can fill it out more. I agree, it is time to wrap the show up. One thing against that thought is that they are so close to the start of WWI. I would like to see how everyone copes and behaves during wartime.
  13. I don't know if they'll do away with him altogether but I really don't see him living in the house for too long. I hope he won't, anyway.
  14. 1/5 this week. Thank goodness for knowing a smattering of French.
  15. Great game for me tonight - I was snapping out correct answers left and right and finally got my first FJ of the week. I didn't write down my ts's but I know I got Adonis, Tiktok and Elmore Leonard.
  16. 16/17 Ballad of Gentleman Jones February 13, 2023 I've been waiting for PI Watts to join up with the constabulary to solve a case and here it is. I'd say it worked very well, even though Watts thought he was a failure. It was a good story with interesting characters. I did figure the Kid (and murderer) was Gert Dotson although not really too early in the episode. I liked hearing Watts, at the end, expressing overall satisfaction with his life, now that he is back home in Toronto with his friends. Not looking forward to seeing Dr. Ogden in peril again.
  17. Trench was my answer too for FJ although I didn't think it was much of a secret invention. DS got tank instantly. I did get Mr. Tambourine Man and was surprised it was a ts. Though I love Dylan's songs, I never thought he was a very good singer so I vote for the Byrds as the better version, even if they did leave out a verse.
  18. This made the episode a kind of bittersweet ending to the season for me. I loved the group working together and the end (we hope) of Arabella, but her assessment of Eliza seemed spot on and made me worry that she and William will never get together.
  19. I really loved her style too; I'm glad it was well appreciated.
  20. 2/5 0* Peter Pan was an instaget and last night's Holy Roman Emperor was a wild assed guess.
  21. I've been sick but never missed Jeopardy! Am on the mend. I got 3/5 last week with 1*. I even got Nevada, but did not get Oregon.
  22. Jake was definitely calmer than in his first game. I did get the ts's of Queen, ran away, Manitoba and something else I can't remember. I was close to Nosferatu but said Nostradamus instead. For FJ my mind was blank for the first few seconds then "suffering" brought Passion of the Christ to mind and I knew that passion was correct. Were there a lot of ts's in the game?
  23. That was a very exciting game! I did enjoy Troy's run and would have liked it if Dee had won but Jake certainly earned his win. I had no clue at all for FJ. I watch very few movies and don't think I've ever heard of this one. Although, if they had given the name of the movie, I would have known it was about Edith Piaf. Jake is a regular poster on JBoard and put up a very nice post last night which made him sound like a very likeable person. I know I'm a little late with this, but I thought Troy looked like k.d. lang, in her early years.
  24. A real bummer of a week for me with 0/5 and, of course, 0*. I think my brain was just being lazy, like it didn't even want to try. Maybe it will be sharper next week. I will bring onion rings to the table for 0. And maybe a couple of dipping sauces.
  25. Is this about today's (Friday's) game?
