  1. So I guess I have to rewatch. I thought it was Yara hanging from the bow. I thought this was a great episode. I have not been a fan of Dany being the entitled queen of the world. How many times does her right hand have to remind her that wholesale slaughter does not necessarily have to be the first option? While she "freed" slaves, she seem to directly benefit from their emancipation by collecting more soldiers to die for her entitled desire to rule everyone... Even as mentioned with Varys, why given him the shakedown then? He has already done some good work for you? Maybe her castle has a physiological effect on Targareyn brains that make them really aggressive?
  2. I have to put Aryasasin ahead of all of them personality wise. She was a pretty funny pre-teen. I am not sure the scene with her and the darlings of the Westeros army is to simply allow for "decent" soldiers so she would question her goofy mass-murdering ways. There was something a little too decent with ALL of those dudes. They may have a darker purpose.
  3. Lady M ain't no Tommen. I would say she has already demonstrated a clear focus of the issues and has quickly seen through BS. (Remember when she nailed the "small talk" during her very first scene?) I think she is every bit as formidable as Aryasasin and The Queen of Mean.
  4. I vote self indulgent for Lynch (and for the podcast too now that I think about it)... Pacing kills me. If I ain't gonna get the meaning of the translucent hovering figures in the first three minutes of their screen time, I ain't gonna get it in six... I don't have the patience for the story. (And I have two 17-year-olds)... OTTIS my man, it isn't very clear.
  5. Now I need to re-watch the episode with a little tea!
  6. Ha! Luna - I wish I hadn't had the three glasses of wine before the episode! It made me dizzy!
  7. Well... Since this is been made part of the topic by recappist - I would agree with the current parallels with manufactured facts verses real truth are disseminated by people who believe they represent conventional wisdom. And a lie repeated often enough by authority is generally accepted by those who embrace the political philosophy of the source. I disagree that the only creator of fake/false information these days are on the head of one particular political party. Therein lies the problem stated in the recap, seeing the truth through a particular bias filter and immediately accepting convenient "facts" to support an ideology is indeed a dangerous thing. Well said.
  8. Are they going to recap this show? I loved their recaps from past seasons! Funny stuff.
  9. Pretty sure it was from a room. When they looked up at the window through the atrium you could see a window with the shade up. (Plus, I think Meems gun rig was on a night table.) Too bad. Ray Wise needs to give Meemo the devils caabookie - I hope he finds death in the last episode however, it seems that muscle-type guy always gets away in the Fargo world (Wrench, Mike Milligan, etc.)... I agree with the positive gushers. I look forward to every episode and feel satisfied and entertained after an hour. I find it unfair to compare, compare, compare only because it is an exercise in futility. I take each season on its own merit and if this was the very first season I would love it. I thought season one got a little more clumsy (when they really started fleshing out the Oliver Pratt character). They sure make ten weeks fly bye!!
  10. I was kind of hoping that she was going to offer him a spoon, but then that would have been "humor"...
  11. I think she is ripping off her "Stands with a Fist" accent...
  12. This. Seems finding Nikki's body at the hotel would have left less questions than a prison bus hijacking. I am not sure Nikki could have talked her way out of Ray's murder either.
  13. Also - in a way, Jimmy was right. Irene was not thinking of her friends while being manipulated by the law firm. She isn't a child and she was given responsibility for the disposition of the law suit. Apparently she didn't bother to convene a meeting or solicit feedback from her friends. She just assumed they were financially "fine". While she seemed like a sweet lady, she shouldn't be making independent decisions based solely on her frame of reference. Kind of selfish.
  14. Right? I read all these positive reviews of the episode and thought I screwed up and accidentally hit the freeze frame button for an hour... Nope, film was rolling.... slowly.... rolling...
  15. Best moments this season? End credits...
  16. When they opened in the hospital with Sy, the white board stated that it was March something, 2011. Three months went by. Sy should have grown the beard, much better look for him. I must have liked the episode because I kept track of how much time was left during the thing. Unlike Twin Peaks where I try to see how soon it will end. (To the credit of the writers for TP, they have found a way to bend an hour into what feels like three...) Two more left for Fargo - bring it on!
  17. Perhaps I just lack artsy sophistication but... I found the episode to be a ponderous bore. I guess the non-moving scene by scene pacing is deliberate and we end up moving the story along 3% from hour to hour. I plan to hang on for a little longer, but lordy, when I am actually considering switching over to "Fear the Walking Dead" in the middle of TP I know they're losing me...
  18. I guess since they were going to pin the murder on Nikki, and they knew their location, they could have just called the police with a tip on where to find her. I don't know why you would do that, only to try to kill her in police custody (much harder), then hope stepping in front of a bus would do the trick. I think a prison bus driver would have simply hit the dude... I'm sure they are trained on how to handle a person trying to stop the bus?
  19. I would guess Ray had his motel key on him.
  20. In other news... Hector, what's up with those shoes? Red Mary Janes?
  21. Yabut - you would put the tax burden on Ray.
  22. So... Why didn't Emmitt just tell the IRS dude that he took out the $10K to give to his brother? "Sorry, I should have filled out the AML form, do you have one? My brother is a dumb-ass and obviously needs the dough"... Seemed like an easy response to the "complication"....
  23. Maybe he can develop a "True Detective; Deadwood Edition"...
  24. Just before the episode my 16 year old son was watching "Freaks & Geeks" on Netflix. It was hard to watch Martin Starr play Bill Haverchuck and then roll into the same mono-tone intonations as Gilfoyle...
  25. Peter Principle most likely. Being in the military does not in and of itself make one a good manager or administrator. This guy just wants a quiet post, earn toward retirement, and this murder comes along. He acts as though he is intimidated by Gloria as she appears confident, well respected, and successful (and female?). I have worked for people like that. They will do anything to insist they are the only people with a solution. He would probably take a contrary argument to any suggestion, idea, or theory she has regarding anything from the case, to policy, to the weather...
