  1. In most states single party consent is OK in most taped conversations.
  2. Yabbut - I agree the pond wasn't built for drinking water, however I am sure those houses are no longer on city service... Two years into the ZA, I would guess water gathering is a bit more primitive.
  3. How many churches in that little sub-division anyway? The one that was pushed over by the heard, the Fr. Poopy Pants church/garage, and the other one where Glen and Enid are hangin out. Why wouldn't poops take one of the already crossyfied churches before he built St. Toyota's? Anyway, I am mixed on the episode. Loved the action, I did have some issues with logic. Rick.... Give your kid to THAT guy? Oh well... It's been said enough... - It seemed that Daryl, Abe, and Sasha took some serious extreme chances with the Neganites. Why would they simply pull over and give up their guns? Running them down with a tanker truck seemed to be a lost advantage. What if lead dude decided to simply send two of his guys to the back of the truck to scavenge for stuff and shoot two of the three of them? What luck they took D back with a single flunky. Glad to see it end the way it did tho. That was fun. - Speaking of Daryl, great idea with the gas. However, why no shoot the gas OUTSIDE the compound and draw the walkers OUT instead of more IN. And, if you are going to burn something, why not burn something flammable? He decides to burn WATER. I know, it seemed to work out, the pond (their only source of water BTW) stayed lit long enough for every walker to trudge all the way over from the far sides of town... Again, drinking that water now seems a little sketchy... And Jessie, don't allow your son to argue with you during a Zombie emergency. You're the mom, he is the son. Throw a bloody tarp over his head and hand him over to Fr. Poops, - end of discussion. Crappy parenting got her got. Glen gets the "James Bond Award" for multiple, perfectly timed escapes from certain death. You go Glenn! If I was married to Mags, I think I would have advised her to get off the shaky gun tower and move to the solid as steel wall right behind her.
  4. The way I interpret the alien thing is - there were many very specific UFO sightings during that time around the north. I think the point was "all these people swear the witnessed UFO(s), who are we to say they didn't?" I agree with Peggy being clearly mentally ill. Classically mentally ill, And for a dude who was NOT excited to hear Dunst was in the 2nd season, she freakin killed this part. I'm sure Kristen was worried about my disappointment - but she was awesome - Sorry Krissy, I was wrong. Not sure a dude that served two tours in Vietnam can be called "privileged". He earned his status as a state trooper, it is a position of authority, it was his "prowler". If it was a dude in the back seat he would have said the same thing. He was just tired of needless death. I can't wait for season three. They have set a pretty high set of expectations.
  5. Yeah - I was looking for Hank too. Maybe the Aliens got him by then?
  6. I don't recall thinking Peggy's monologue was stupid - I did think it was given at an inappropriate time. Lou has just spent three days under a tremendous amount of pressure, remember - he went from a face down with KC killers, right to the lynch mob at the police station, discovering a crime scene, into a total blood bath that ended with his ultimate failure to protect the people he tried to protect. And oh yeah, the father-in-law he loves has been critically injured and the love of his life is dyin of cancer. He just might be a bit overwhelmed to demonstrate the proper empathy at that exact moment from a woman who earlier blamed him for the entire deal as he was trying to give her protection/advice that she ignored... Honestly, if they did write him quoting Gloria Steinem, I would have been a bit dubious.
  7. That was probably the only part of this series I didn't like; the Mike Milligan headline. If the press knows where you are, must be tough to 1) kill people in your room, and 2) why would the undertaker choose to whack Mike in a place that was obviously being watched by the media? Seemed a bit clumsy. I guess that was the only way they could figure how to connect Ed to Mike... There had to be a better way.
  8. If she was found competent I doubt she'd serve more than five years for manslaughter. She was forced to participate in what happened to be a botched police sting and lost her husband in the process.
  9. I think she would plead down to manslaughter. I don't think they can hang any part of the massacre on her since she was forced to participate in it. She may get consideration due to the fact that the idiot cops put her in harms way. I'd guess she'd serve 5 years if she was evaluated as "mentally competent". Did we ever actually see Tripoli die? I know Malvo killed everyone in the building, but I don't recall if we saw proof Tripoli died. I guess I have to rewatch!
  10. I think Alcatraz had been closed for long period of time before 1979. I believe the native american occupation of Alcatraz took place between 1969 to 1971. I don't think Peggy was badass enough to be sentenced to Pelican Bay Prison. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pelican_Bay_State_Prison
  11. Shit Cop actually redeemed himself I thought. He could have just boogied from the hotel after he came to and he followed the sound of the shots and supported Lou as he went after Hanzee. Also, he had a true affection for his chief. He was aces in my book.
  12. I don't know if this was already mentioned but those same symbols appeared over the bar that Hanzee shot up. I think they were carved in wood. (Can't remember what episode that was actually)
  13. It's entirely possible that she happened to like the life she choose. She seemed to be fulfilled and happy. Lou and Hank simply recognized her intelligence, I saw nothing that would smack of condescension. Betsy herself spoke to the notion of someone else telling her how she should feel about her life when Noreen brought up the subject - "people who think that don't have a six year old girl." Peggy on the other hand wanted anything but the life she felt she was painted into although she could not really verbalize what she wanted other than independence. Although I believe she vacillated between the security of a life with Ed and an independent life in California. Ed recognized that they were a poor match at the end. He was pretty clear that he wanted a simple family life
  14. Yes - the bad people died, good prevails. I don't find that fucked up. Betsy demonstrated many times she could protect herself and objected to anyone else doing so. She also was key in terms of understanding the crime better than the two policemen. At no time did Lou demonstrate he was embarrassed by the fact that Betsy was sharper than he and her dad. I think Lou struggled the entire season with trying to be empathetic to Betsy's situation/sickness without being condescending. Peggy is just mentally unbalanced. Schizophrenia? I don;t know what her classic diagnosis would be, however leaving Rye in the windshield and preparing the hamburger helper was pretty telling that she is out of touch with reality. Ed was simply an enabler for her. She should have been encouraged to seek help. Ed was just as delusional (until his last act) ignoring some pretty strong behavioral issues. Again, 1979, when mental disease was something people were ashamed to face. Simone and Floyd were criminals and shared the same fate of almost all the male criminals. I am sure Simone grew up in an abusive childhood. But so did Dodd. Was he a victim too? Probably. Constance was really a predator. If a man were to identify an attractive, demented/vulnerable/unhappy married young lady, put the two in a hotel room and planned to ply her with alcohol, that guy would be pretty villainous... So, in the spirit of equality, I find Constance's predatory ways got her killed.
  15. And this was 1979, when we didn't have "safe zones" on campus. The "man - head/protector of the family" stuff was still a prevalent in american families. I don't believe that automatically make the character evil. It would be an anachronism to place 2015 values on a 1979 rural family. Heck that model is still prevalent for most of the families on this earth. I thought the episode was awesome. I LIKED Mike's king crap. He was on a huge ego trip having walked into a perfect situation and he was thumping his chest at dirk diggler (whatever that dudes name was). He thought he had just won his own crime family. It worked even better when corporate america humbled him later. (And get a haircut, the 70;s are over)...
  16. And Peggy didn't kill Rye - Ed did. Also - Charlies gun jammed - clearing a jammed gun is harder for a one handed person to do than load it.
  17. I think the Hanzee question is more simple than that. He believe the KC deal was a good one and allowed the Gerhardts to simply implode (with some help) so he could take over. There is still the question of Dodd calling him "half breed". That infers that Dodd knows Hanzee lineage. He's still too old to be the son of the big brother so it may be Otto.
  18. YES! They were all in uniform, just a different type of uniform! I also loved the comment "and keep you pants on". (Of course he died with his pants off")
  19. I noticed that the motel was the only place where you can find a touch tone phone. They all had buttons, not dials. I remember having touch tone phones in high school so they were not an anachronism. The detail is so cool...
  20. I am old. We only needed to use 5 numbers to make a local call in Versailles Kentucky in 1979, I remember 1979 (high school junior) and like the writer of the episode summery said, unanswered calls were common place. Someone is in the bathroom, someone is outside, etc. No voicemail, etc. Heck, if my dad was traveling for business we had to set a time at night to talk to him, as far as finding him (just like Lou), that would be nearly impossible. So given the context of when this happened, I would not expect Lou to be a bit concerned. The actor played it as mild annoyance. Great choice I thought. I would have thought Noreen would have called the Minnesota police dispatch operator to report the incident with Betsy and relay it to Lou. Maybe next weeks finale will show that Becky specifically asked them not to worry Lou. Given the fact that she had just found out a few weeks earlier that her cancer spread (when she started the new drug), seems hard to believe she could have escalated that quickly.
  21. Mine did too!! I had to say up another hour to re-watch the show so I could catch last minute or two. Luckily it was an easy re-watch. I will set my DVR to record longer just in case. This has happened before with this show. I wonder if it is intentional or the DirectTV timing is slightly off from FX (seems unlikely). My Facebook just had to be graced with Peggy's quote: "It's just a flyin' saucer, let's go!" What an awesome show...
  22. I cringe every time I hear that story. I believe I heard speculated that Victoria Gotti (was that Johns wife or daughter?), or whomever his wife was, had a hand making sure that dude got his unjust desserts. That is why it made me sick to think we actually had a TV show on those people... She had Bear's father killed with no remorse at all. It could have been Floyd or him for that matter. He does not need apologize, simply tell his mom what Simone did...
  23. Peggy's lawyer would only have to plead insanity and they'd be right.
  24. I guess I had the same issue with the Negan motorcycle gang as I did with the Wolf. Why in the world would Daryl obediently obey his commands? They saw the gang from 100 yards away. Stop the truck, load up the RPG and M16 and then go OR run OVER the motorcycles and keep going home. These people HAVE to assume by now every unknown individual is a threat first, will kill you if you leave yourself exposed, etc. Daryl just lived it a hour before... It does not make sense.
