  1. I can only assume that the dugout is rigged to blow up.

    S05.E08: Blanket

Just a few thoughts - I can only assume that Dot was on a mission to find Linda. She has been suffering from PTSD (duh!) and repressed memories. Why repressed? When she was unconscious she zeroed in on that windmill with the metal sheeting on the ground and she started digging. She somehow saw Linda's body being dumped into that hole and the metal tub moved to cover everything and she repressed the horror until she witnessed Graves thrown into the same hole. Who knows what she expected to accomplish but she was sleep deprived and beyond stressed. I don't really care about Indira's marriage backstory. We can fill in the blanks. There are plenty of stories, dramas, movies etc about women who state that their husband is 'not the man they thought they married'. We all have friends, clients or acquaintances that have probably said this to you before or after a divorce. Roy Tillman may have pulled the trigger twice but Graves' hubris set up the kill. I think that Dot's plight and her backstory really affected Indira and Lorraine and maybe Graves as well. Indira's speech to Lorraine about Dot not asking anyone for help made an impact on her and Lorraine. Indira decided she had had enough of her man-child husband and spurred Lorraine into an area of protection and possibly respect. Bonus for Lorraine to give her another reason to go after Tillman. Can't wait to see her response when she finds out about Graves. Will Lorraine change? Doubtful. Added thought - I think Lorraine sees a lot of herself in Indira. Seems to me that Lorraine married a major man-baby too. Was it ever mentioned if the family money was from her husband's side or hers? Or if she started the business on her own.? I've known some well-to-do ladies who marry men of lower intellectual levels so they can take the reins.
  3. Great Season but sad because of Donovan, Allison and Allison's brother. I also feel bad that Standish HAS to face the truth about Palmer (I was beyond tired of hearing her praise him!). River had to face the truth about his grandfather. It was a Season of revelations and truths. Have to admit that I was sad about Spider biting the bullet only because he was such a delicious and enjoyable character to loathe. Freddie Fox made the most of his scenes. I didn't realize he played the Swedish King in THE GREAT until recently. He just seems to disappear into the character he plays. Duffy met a great end.Thank you Louisa and Lamb wasn't too shabby with his kill of Duffy's underling. To me, thugs like this scare me most. I look forward to the next Season and can only hope we get, at least, 6 Seasons. I mean, how much more dirty, stinky, oily and flatulent can Lamb get?
  4. I can't even even contain my joy at having this show back on but devastated that I can't binge. The weekly wait will kill me! Love this series and I welcome back all these delicious oddball characters. They make a great team and they either don't know that or they won't admit it. I am so sorry that this series does not get any hype because it is so deserving. Gary Oldman is in his (slovenly) prime and Jack Lowden is just so nice to look at and his acting chops are bad either. Welcome back show. Just read that there will be a S4 and it should be out as early as Spring '24.
  5. I thought this was a very good finale for an excellent Season but I rage about Hopper. I am beyond tired of filmmakers introducing animal characters only to kill them off. I literally cringed when I first saw Hopper because I knew he was a goner. Here he was used to give the Prince of the Whitecloaks a vendetta against Perrin next Season. Cheap trick. I have extensive TV and movie medical knowledge, LOL, so even I knew that you break off the fletching before pushing the arrow shaft through the wound. That was hard to watch but kudos to Elayne getting up and making it ALL the way up that tower! After all the trauma this Season, I am expecting Egwene to be a totally different person next Season. I may have read the scene wrong but it seemed that Mat showed a definite interest in Elayne.
  6. If you liked Hoon Lee in WARRIOR then please watch BANSHEE. He absolutely shines....for all 4 Seasons! The series is bloody and violent but HEY! you watched WARRIOR so....... I think you can Watch BANSHEE on Amazon.
  7. Two things depress me about this Season: 1. I thought there would be 10 episodes. I am not ready to let this series go at just 8. It's been a great Season and we may have to wait for a long time for a Season 3. Hope not. 2. I don't think Moraine will ever know what her sister did for her. Anvaere took matters in hand to save Moraine that will have repercussions for her family status which is a big deal in the Kingdom.
  8. Well, just finished Season 3 and now I have to hope for a Season 4. Hate the waiting game for renewal news. Great series and it needs to continue. It just amazes me how some of the best shows don't get the audience and recognition they deserve! I have adored Hoon Lee since BANSHEE and I want to know what happens to Chao. So many delicious cliffhangers that need to be resolved.
  9. A thought about Mike White's writing - it seems like he does tie up some storylines, even happily for some characters, but leaves others dangling on purpose to let the audience fill in the blanks with their own assumptions and imaginations. Obviously, looking at all the comments under each episode thread, we don't disappoint! I don't know if I would consider that brilliant writing or lazy writing. I do feel played, much like White's characters, especially with the lack of some closure about Tanya, her money, the gays and Greg.
  10. I feel the same way I did at the end of the first Season Finale....unfulfilled. Gah!! Although it was amusing that Tanya had such good shaky aim! I don't think that Nic guy was going to shoot Tanya. Drowning would have been the objective because an autopsy would have shown drugs ad booze in her system and there were plenty of partygoers who witnessed her drunken behavior. Agree
  11. Thank you for this because I was going to say reciprocal clauses are fairly common. I was also thinking that if Tanya is a Trust beneficiary, her parents could have included a 'no drug' clause or she loses her income. She could have been a druggie when she was young. She did say that she hadn't done cocaine for a long time. Tanya was talked into a few very compromising situations that could have financial consequences for her so blackmail is on the table. I have to say that I am happy the finale is this Sunday. These characters are exhausting to me, especially Tanya and her neediness and Portia's self pity that makes her so oblivious. I can't believe Portia finally 'got a clue' and did nothing!
  12. Yes Now I think this Season is about blackmail. Tanya may have a fidelity clause in her prenup and Valentina just may have a new lounge singer. Lucia seems to be coning Albie for money or a ticket to L.A. Ethan and Cameron? Jealousy but I am lost on a reason for that.
  13. I totally agree about the income money. Greg may have a way in so the prenup may be an avenue.
  14. A Living Trust becomes irrevocable and binding upon the death of the Settlor and then you have successive beneficiaries and trustees until there are no assets remaining. It does not dissolve. An irrevocable Trust is meant to be bullet proof. A Living Trust is revocable and can be attacked in a lawsuit or divorce, hence the reason for good attorneys (expensive) to tailor language for the most protection. A revocable trust can be amended several times during the life of a Settlor but upon death it is irrevocable and no amendments can be made. Everything always comes down to language and the teams of attorneys as well as the courts. If Tanya has a Living Trust then Greg can try and get something while she is alive. Greg can try for more even if there is a prenup but it depends on the language/provisions and loopholes. Basically, the lawyers are the big winners. I would just like to know how Tanya is funded.
  15. Very true. The package would also include a Power of Attorney and Health Care Declaration. If you have clients with a half billion dollars, then there would have to be a Trust since it covers property both personal and real as well as possible tax consequences. A Will 'scoops' up everything not covered or missed in a Trust snd make provisions for guardianships for minors or the disabled. If Tanya's sob story from S1 can be believed, then her parents have to have a Trust which would dictate terms for the beneficiary and for the Trustee and make provisions should Tanya pass away. A Will keeps being mentioned in this thread and my head would literally explode if there is only a Will. I find this part fascinating (and horrific LOL)if it were that simple. It was mentioned here that Tanya will be in Season 3. Why? Wouldn't it be funny if Tanya owns the White Lotus Resorts in some capacity.........
  16. I actually don't care about any murder mystery this Season since the first Season was a surprise for me. I'll just sit back and watch everything play out. It's like a multiple car accident waiting to happen IMHO and the victims will be revealed soon. The mystery that is getting to me, after reading all the comments, is Tanya and her money. Tanya's parents were abusive and Tanya is emotionally and mentally damaged. Remember her teary speech about her parents from Season 1? I would be absolutely floored if there isn't a Trust. I don't think multimillionaires would do a 'Will' especially if the parents were controlling to begin with. Lawyers for wealthy clients would push a Trust because a Will is chump change whereas the fees for a Trust can be annual income for them. Wills are fine for most people without a lot of money or businesses. My guess is that Tanya is a Trust beneficiary with spending limitations and protections put in place so she can't get scammed by husbands and other people. I would love, even salivate, to know the backstory of her inheritance. The best twist for me would be that Tanya is not as vacuous as presented and that she shines sometime soon. She hasn't needed to thus far. Her apparent loopiness and neediness just carries her through and people seem to accept that as her being another eccentric and crazy rich lady. One can hope.
  17. If you check out his IMDb page with photo it seems that chin is for real. The white hair just makes it stand out more. His face is leaner now as well.
  18. Loved this series and my mind was blown when I looked up Ewan Mitchell and saw that he played Osferth, Uhtred's loyal monk companion! Such a striking difference in appearance. I am fascinated by Aemond and EWs portrayal of the character. He does give 'great face'. I would assume there is a dragon pit or a cave system on Dragonstone because Daemon wooed Vermithor in a dark carved out area. I was thinking that Vermithor was too easy getting wooed and bonded with just a torch and song. I would have expected torch, song, flowers, tail feather shaking and a goat. Ah what a scene that would have been! Seems Tarqs can bond with more than one dragon just like Dany. Someone mentioned that Vhagar looked ugly. I was thinking 'gnarly' LOL. Aemond learned a lesson (questionable) that you don't mess with crabby old ladies with their own minds.
  19. Have to say that I didn't expect that ending. Glad I wasn't spoiled. I was actually expecting Lucerys to die after he was sent on his mission but to have a young dragon fire out of fear and then the grande dame of dragons take a vindictive bite, well, damn. Neither rider had control of their dragons in this situation and now there will be war because Aemond had to play his dark game. I have to say that it looked like a battleship next to a tug boat with the dragon sizes. Vhagar is immense and she does not tolerate young impertinent pups which means she has a mind of her own despite the will of her rider. What dragon was Daemon wooing in the Dragonstone pit? Laenor's? Is it 2024 yet?
  20. Rhaenys' bursting through the floor is a ramification of her and her dragon being 'imprisoned' and the rushed coronation. Green Team made the first move.
  21. Let's agree to disagree. If the Pit Masters could get through the rubble or run from the entrance of the pit to the arena that fast, then they wouldn't be in the HOD universe but, rather, the Marvel Universe or DC Universe. We are talking 3 to 5 minutes tops from when Rhaenys burst through that floor and Rhae decide how to save herself and her dragon and give the finger to the Greens. If she called to her dragon for rescue in the Red Keep, then Meleys would have destroyed a portion of the Keep killing dozens if not hundreds of innocents. If Rhaenys tried to get Meleys out of the entrance of the Pit then all guards, pit masters and probably other innocents would have fried and the floor could have caved in killing hundreds and Rhaenys and Meleys could have been killed or mortally wounded. If Rhaenys did noting then she was a 'dead woman walking' with Otto around and then there would be an enraged dragon bent on destruction Oh! and then Otto and Aemond could blast Dragonstone and Driftwood and kill 100's of innocents in a surprise attack. I see no scenario where innocents DON"T die. I am okay with Rhaenys' decision given the time restraints and circumstances in this setting and, yes, the deaths are unfortunate. I do not think Rhaenys is a dumbass and that she would have been a wise but a threatened Queen due to the patriarchal attitude. I called the dragon and rider bond empathic and visceral but I also like what one poster said...'mythical'. Good word. This made me think of that final scene between Jon and Drogon when the dragon could have fried Jon for killing his mistress but instead turned and torched the Iron Throne. This makes me edge toward sentient as well.
  22. Thank you for this. The Pit Masters know their dragons and would know how to kill Meleys as well as Rhaenys. I honestly feel that Rhaenys took the only option she had available to her and her dragon at the time and it also gave her the opportunity to make a glaring statement at the Green Team. It also gave notice to the people of King's Landing that not all Tarqs are okay with this rushed coronation. Rhaenys has a lot at stake....her granddaughters, her home, her dragon and she needs to warn Rhae and Dae. I have seen nothing in her character, thus far, that would suggest that she would fry the Greens at this point in the story. The innocent bystanders being trampled is very unfortunate but HELLO!! Look at the history of this world and our world. The ground has always been soaked with the blood of the innocent. If an action is deemed expedient, then damn the consequences. If there is a power struggle and a quest for wealth, well, damn the consequences. The consequences are the innocent. I find Rhaenys to be an honorable woman and I don't condone the deaths caused by her exit plan but I think this was her only shot. I just want to say that I am completely in awe of the dragons. I think we have been given more insight in HOD regarding the bond of rider and dragon. Look at Leana and Vhagar. Look at Rhaenys and Meleys. The bond is empathic and visceral. Vhagar mourned Laena and Meleys literally showed Rhaenys' seething anger. Rhaenys held her dragon in check from frying the Greens without any visible movement. Amazing scene. Ive been thinking(way too much) that the showrunners are purposely making Daemon and Aemond so similar in looks, demeanor and even their walk. Yes? No? there has to be a reason for this beyond an eventual showdown.
  23. I raise my foot to agree. Well, at least, we know how Alicent has been repaying Larys for his info but not his sole loyalty after his little talk with Otto. I wonder if Otto will have to go barefoot in the future. I knew right away that The Queen's Lady-in-Waiting, Tayla, was signaling the King's death when she lit those candles in the window. So Mysaria is the White Worm. Good on her for trying to look after the poor and abused. I like her and hope she was not in the house when it was torched. I literally detest Ser Criston. Still a pretty boy but a stone cold psycho. Rhaenys is a bad ass. Respect! She would have been a great queen. That ending was amazing IMHO.
  24. Thank you for this! So true and not just England's history. Some observations- At the funeral gathering, there were 'watchers'...Rhaenyra, Otto, Daemon, Larys...and young Aemond. All 5 were observing everyone and everything. Aemond did not seek out Vhagar until after he heard her mournful cries. I give this kid props for walking up to this magnificent and deadly creature and taking the reins and actually holding on. He walked up to that other dragon in the pit at Kings Landing and he ran before he almost got torasted, so Aemond faced his fear and stood his ground with Vhagar. She chose to accept him as her new rider. No one was as shaken as Leanor at the funeral. He didn't even acknowledge his parents when he passed them at the gathering, so there are obvious issues and resentments. The loss of his sister and his feelings about his parents may have made his decision to 'die' an easy one. Aemond did look to Jace for possible inclusion in the cousin mourning group at the gathering but Jace averted his eyes. I think Aemond did attempt to be friendly with his cousin but was shunned. I would have preferred that Rhaena had bonded with Vhagar but Daemon AND the grandparents were lax IMO. Granted they didn't know there was a 'wld card' out there called Aemond but when your family strength and power is based on dragons, you take steps immediately to keep your assets safe and at home. You snooze, you lose. The cousin fight has been discussed extensively in this thread, so I will side step and just say that the fight was necessary because lines are now drawn between the children. Their feelings after this fight will be their own and not just the feelings of hate they absorb from their parents and others around them. I worry about the fate of the dragons Showrunners!! you have Graham McTavish and you keep him standing around? I am baffled! Here's hoping his part gets bigger and better in future episodes.
