  1. It would be nice if they followed up on his case of the week so that we got a better idea as to whether his activities are having any meaningful impact on the world or whether it's just a stepping stone to getting enough spiritual power to find the back up Righteous souls in order to save the world/restore balance from whatever killed the last batch. Amy is boring and annoying. I really hope they add something more to the character sometime soon or it's going to be a pain to get through her scenes.
  2. Late to the party but this was an excellent episode. The musical intro and ending really sold the episode. I'm guessing since the Fillory Gods are dead, the people of Fillory want to choose their own rulers, though I'm not sure why they didn't simply crown Fen in that case. Oh well, stupid Fillorian peasants.
  3. Does make me wonder about the Fillory Fairies. Do they know what's happening with the Earth bound Fairies, is that why they're building up their numbers in Fillory. Are they refugees from Earth ? Somewhere else? I have to say that Penny really grated this episode. He's bugging me more than Julia this season. Julia is actually kind of tolerable now. Perhaps because she's being helpful for a change. I do wonder about Cassandra. Is she an ancestor of Alice or a future version of her or something weirder ? At least Harriet sort of makes more sense now. Her stance has always seemed kind of weird and nonsensical, letting anyone access the information about the magical equivalent of nukes seems foolhardy and dangerous. Now, we know it's mix of youthful rebellion and restlessness about the Library's policies of staying out of the story. I'm only mildly concerned that Harriet and Victoria are dead or alive. Seriously Travellers tend not to be a cheerful bunch, at least not the men anyway.
  4. Ben for the win, 5 seconds of screen time and he wins the episode. Using an old disabled man as a chair is next level sociopathy. Normal people would just grab a chair. The A, B and C plot lines were pretty mediocre. I never have any idea of their financial situation from episode to episode and it doesn't appear the writers much care.
  5. Personally I'm a fan of Todd. Quentin and Penny seem like hard work, Quentin because of his insecurities and depression and Penny because he's so bitter and sardonic all the time. Though with Ghost Penny we don't get to see him shirtless any more. lol
  6. I can see why the Dean would be sick of dealing with them, they're no longer students and they're always doing whatever they want which cause problems for everyone else. I'm curious how Margo and Elliot are going to get out of the mob scenario. Is there a reason why they can't just stab the Fairy Queen?
  7. Lol. I like that, Fungus fairies, would explain all that nonsense about fairie rings being made of mushrooms.
  8. Anyone else wondering if the Fairies are part plant based? What with their need for being spritzed with water and growing in the soil ?
  9. I don't think anyone at Fillory knows much about the Fairies other that they're crazy evil and powerful. I do wonder what they plan to do with the fairy babies. Will the Queen care about a handful of dead fairy fetuses?
  10. Yeah I don't buy that he's a psychopath or a sociopath, the more likely option is he's just traumatized by something in his backstory and he's shut down and trying to deal with it in a really messed up way. He's had plenty of chances to kill her and he's not done it. I'm really hoping this isn't going to be a 'lover conquers mental illness' plot. It's looking bad so far.
  11. Hopefully we'll get some more follow up on the life they lived out and ? reset? Maybe their corpses are still in Fillory and the time loop only effected the Earth versions, which would explain how they remember a life they didn't live out. It's a real head scratcher. I think it's amusing that Quentin gets to have so much interaction with Jane, his childhood idol and escapist fantasy outlet. It would have been nice if Jane said that Margot could visit the Clock Barrens any time she wanted so she could have a time out from the whole Fairy Queen subterfuge plotline. Or even if she stayed for ten minutes to have a nap. Royal politicking seems like a lot of hard work. I'm kind of curious what the Fairy Queen has over the Mountain Queen/leader.
  12. "I just pretend she respects me" is both hilarious and deeply sad. I liked Hyman, he was so stone age silly. He made an amusing foil for Penny's constant negativity and sarcasm. Penny isn't someone that most people would be sad was dead in a real life situation. He's caustic and complains endlessly about what people are thinking (mostly Quentin) which is tiresome. I'm actually liking Julia these days, maybe it helps that she hasn't committed arborcide or left someone else to die recently.
  13. At this point, the government is capturing, experimenting on and killing mutants simply because they are mutants. I'm not sure how blowing up a plane would make things worse for mutants, the only thing that might change is that the government would be more open about their goals of mutant genocide. The major problem with this episode is that the Von Struker children are morons. They could have simply broken the stupid manacles and the Hounds would have been significantly less dangerous to everyone. Instead they just wiped them out of existence. Take that drug addicted, brain washed tools of an oppressive government. I hope next season Sage uses her awesome intellect to create a Brotherhood version of the Manacle, something a little more lightweight and cooler so that Lorna and Andy could combine their powers so we could get a telekinetic with power over the electromagnetic spectrum. It'd be so nice if the Mutants acted more like powerful mutants and less like endangered animals running pointlessly from human predators.
  14. I liked the episode well enough but all the moral grandstanding gets tiresome. I'd be fine with the Mutant Underground working towards a more effective peaceful option eg finding a political safe haven somewhere, I'm sure there's some small country in the world that would consider having a group of mutants indebted to them quite useful. Or if a large segment of the Mutant Underground simply decided that turning the other cheek is no longer a viable option and just teamed up to destroy/expose the corruption that's rampant in Sentinel Services/Evil Labs. Instead we get tired arguments about whether it's nobler to stay true to the X-Men's vision of don't kill the people that are trying to kill you, take the high road and claim a moral superiority or whether it's smarter to stop making excuses for the people trying to perpetrate genocide on your sub species and wipe them out while you still can. Even before the Senator got blown up he was going to try pass legislation that would make the hunting down, capturing and experimenting on mutants easier by claiming they don't deserve human rights. When you have the government claiming you're not human, it's time to either work on finding a better government to offer you sanctuary or burn it all to the ground and start again. Not spend every other minute arguing about ethics and morality. I did like Andy's dig about the American Revolution, if you win the war, you get to write the history books and claim you were the morally superior side fighting for all the right reasons instead of terrorists. Might makes right after all.
  15. Well that was typically mediocre. Let's hope the new Doctor under a new show runner will be better than the last one. 5 seconds of Clara was enough to irritate me, "stupid old man" is not a funny hello. Why won't she just go away forever? Can't anyone just stay dead on this stupid show ? *sigh* The moment when Capaldi realized that the Testimony didn't have an evil plan was amusing because it showed how much the show flails without a proper antagonist or threat to deal with.
  16. I wish they had invested all that demi god death power into something more reusable like a dagger or an arrow tip or something. It was nice seeing Ember fanboying over his former creation.
  17. It's weird that Julia was acting more selfless without her soul/shade than she has been for the last couple of seasons. They seem to be playing fast and loose with the concept of a shade being your guilt/feelings. On the upside, Julia was more tolerable than usual and I FLoved the Dragon. "I'll eat you... I'm a dragon". Hilarious. ETA loved the moment when the Senator realized he'd been accidentally controlling his wife the entire time he knew her. Reynard being all emo about Persephone ditching him was both deeply hilarious and pathetic all at the same time. How many goodbyes is Quentin going to have with Alice?
  18. Penny knows how much trouble the group has gotten into with a children's book series and messing with Gods, so it's not unreasonable to think that maybe some knowledge is better kept to people who know what they're doing instead of some random people who feel that information should be shared freely regardless of the consequences. Also it's his first day on the job and his first assignment and it's already led to the death of the only other Librarian we've seen.
  19. I finally got around to watching this episode. Julia & Margo are both terrible, Julia as a strategist and friend and Margo as a queen who doesn't know when to be quiet and simply listen before making a snarky comment that backfires terribly. Why did Penny break out Julia, she didn't provide anything of value and she was relatively safe in Fillory.
  20. I'm kind of curious as to whether the Cerebrus IF was Psycho's kid original IF or not. It was gratifying to see both Happy and Hailey find their inner steel this episode and fight back against their oppressive captors though Happy was more successful in his resistance. Nick's fan boy did not survive meeting his 'hero'.
  21. The Morlocks were far more believable as an oppressed group, they lived in the sewers, their genetics left them disfigured and or discolored whereas the X men hung about a mansion, using a super high tech plane to get around the place while sometimes jumping back and forward in time with multiple Omega level mutants. I think my biggest problem with this episode is that there was no one in that Mutant Underground outpost with any useful offensive or defensive powers before the Struckers showed up and no one had a gun or any weapons to defend themselves from capture by what essentially amounts to an evil amoral government agency in league with shady scientists. Essentially it suffers from the Star Trek problem where only a handful of people can demonstrate any aptitude in a situation because they're main characters and everyone is essentially a background character that has to wait for them to show up to save the day. It was tedious that no one thought to attack either the manacle or the guys opening fire on a house with no actual provocation for doing so.
  22. They are ? So this is a dead timeline show? Well that makes everything extra pointless since we know that they fail at stopping the Sentinels and their entire existence is overwritten anyway.
  23. Didn't that future stop existing what with the time travel? Also this is the beginning of the Sentinel Program rather than the end game where the entire human race is punished because of the potential for mutantness. Theoretically this should be set after X3 so only Jean, Scott and Xavier would be dead, Wolverine, Colossus and Beast should theoretically be around to help with defense and or organisation.
  24. I have no idea. If the other X men related mutants are in hiding why aren't they hiding with the Mutant Underground? They have more combat experience than any of these noobs. B) It's hard to buy you're the oppressed underdog when you can rip apart buildings with your mind. C) My point is they could use that superior technology to either fight back more effectively or to leave the planet. D) I said progress, not complete elimination. As for attack on Mosques, it's not like there's any reason for people to be wary of Muslims with the frequent Trucks of Peace. Random civilians being racists aren't uncommon even today, especially towards white people but generally there are very few active nation wide government supported persecutions of minorities. Back to the actual discussion of the episode. Why does no one in the mutant underground have any guns ? They could have come in handy to take down either one of the Mutant hounds instead of relying on their powers whatever they were. Stupidity abounds.
  25. My bad, I keep forgetting what the character names are, they leave such a small impression in my brain. I keep forgetting what the main characters are called. I'm hoping we see Sebastian Shaw. Do we have an in show reason for why the Xmen aren't helping the Mutant Underground?
