I found that emerald to be an odd color -- I always thought they were a deeper green than that.  It almost looked like the color of green jade to me.  And really - what did he drop it on that would cause it to break?

I thought the same thing.  If nothing else, why is there no camera or security system in place?

Emeralds are my favorite stone. I almost fainted when I saw the size of that one. They can vary in color & they are very delicate. I have 2 smallish rings & then at the Tucson gem show one year, I got a 2.67 carat stone :)  I had it set into a pendant rather than ring bc of the softness (& my tendency to smack my hands & jewelry into things).

why did contessa's Dad need an earpiece thingy? She alluded to him having substance abuse issuse all the way through her childhood. I'd be betting that's why he was asleep for 4 hours at the airport, although it's possible he just passed out with fatigue, given the cancer and the coeliacs. I gave it side eye though, especially as he is not willing to do treatment for the cancer.

I may have missed something, but I do remember CONEtessa's dad as having some chronic illness (maybe not SA tho?)?? Chron's?? Something.

I think that phrase "wealth whispers" is almost lost in today's celebrity, social media, wannabe society.

I always loved that Jane Birkin of the famous Hermes "Birkin". Has only owned 4 of them (given to her by Hermes for use of her name and her design) and only one at a time. Plus she use to haul it around* stuffed like a steam trunk & plastered  with stickers, baubles and a visual history of use (scuffs and scratches). She didn't treat it as a revered object as most do. She owned the the bag the bag's "status" didn't own her.

*The bag got too heavy and caused her tendonitis.

I'm most impressed when something is rich with the stink of history and hopefully a story. I'd be more impressed by a small piece of custom no name jewelry than an off the shelf Cartier anything.

I’m not gonna lie, I’d give my left nut for a Birkin bag.

I'm not sure what the show was trying to say with the Rubber Man. I fully expected him to pull the mask off and reveal Tate from Murder House but when they cut to Joan Collins lying there stabbed to death, I just didn't get it. Was he hallucinating the Rubber Man? Both times? We know it wasn't Joan Collins the first time because she was out in the hallway watching them.

The kid who plays Timothy looks so familiar but he hasn't been in anything else I've seen according to his IMDB page. Finally figured out, he looks like a young Joseph Gordon Levitt.

The snakes coming back to life in the soup bowls, in addition to the Rubber Man confusion, makes me think they're all actually dead and in hell.

My problem with the show is that it's been style over substance since around Season 3. Ryan Murphy has more or less given up on cohesive story-telling and just goes for whatever is crazy and outlandish even if it doesn't make sense. It's still entertaining, sometimes, but it's not as tightly written as the first two seasons were. It seems like he thinks shock value is the only worthy pursuit in the show.

I really thought the season started out very well but it quickly devolved into the usual Murphy campiness.

I’m still confused about the Rubber Man from the first season!!

I also don’t know what y’all mean by Joan coming back as another character.

I don't mean disrespect , as I can see the man is ill,  - but - Contessa's : dad fell asleep in the ATL airport for 4 hours? where -  in the atrium or at the gate where people are waiting for a flight?  And you let him sleep there ? Airport security would have assisted if you told him his flight landed and he didn't or couldn't make it up baggage claim (which is a serious journey in the ATL airport- even for those in the best of health).

You didn't call for wheelchair, gurney , something and take him at least to your house, your dr office, out patient facility somewhere...

Granted you might didn't know how sick he was until you laid eyes on him, but you should have let airline know he had a serious medical condition when you bought his ticket. I know her immediate family is small, but maybe he should be traveling with someone. Hire someone if you have to fly with him.. My heart goes out to the both of them..

This is my question too!!! Did he fall asleep & then it took 4 hours to find him bc he was asleep?!!? WHUT?

I will say, I gasped with them when he said his PSA # was 300. That. Ain't. Good. UGH. Ignoring cancer does not make it go away :(

    John Irving.

I read "The World According to Garp" years ago, and it's still one of my favorite books, but I stopped reading him once I realized he basically writes the same characters, over and over again.  A lot of authors do that, but with him, it's really obvious.

Oh god, I love his books. But yes they are repetitive. Prayer for Owen Meany is one of my favorite books ever & one of 2 books that I've bought for dozens of people (the other being 100 years of solitude).

Anyway, 3 words for you: Joyce. Carol. Oates.

  8. I just read The Great Believers. It was so good, I didn't want to put it down, but I didn't want it to end either!! I was gutted the whole time. Centers on the beginnings of HIV/AIDS in the 80s in Chicago. I was in my 20s during this time, living in South Beach, with tons of gay friends & 'club friends'. What a hard time it was. This book gutted me! So good.

That primer is gorgeous, I sample it whenever I am in the store.   I often do just a primer, and only add foundation for special occasions, so a good primer is critical.

Just curious, what other primers do you like? Thx :)
