I just wanted to apologize publicly for my speculation post and say thanks for removing it.

Maybe one of the tabloids will score an article with an ex-girlfriend of Derick's, if there is one. But I hope that doesn't happen. I like Derick. One day far in the future when Jim Bob is gone, I could see the gentle and kind Derick Dillard being the de facto patriarch of the Duggar family.

How can they seriously expect to sell joolry with the Latin word for faithful on it? They have not been faithful to one another at all. They don't even like each other.

Seems like it will be very easy for Jill to snag Derick over into the Gothard cult. 1. He obviously adores her. She is his beloved and has been indoctrinated to truly believe that birth control is a grevious sin. He isn't going to want to hurt her feelings our put a stumbling block before her so I can't see him forcing her to use BC. 2. The Duggars are pulling Derick away from his cancer fighting mom and one brother and trying to "love rush" him into Gothardville-Duggarland rather than allowing Jill to actually leave and cleave. He is a young man who lost his dad, has a very ill mother and only one sibling. The Duggars are going to have a far greater influence on him than he will on them.

Agree with the person who mentioned that about the newly woods not abstaining. Evangelicals of the Gothard cult only believe in abstaining for fasting and prayer on rare occasions and then to prove he controls their genitals as well as their minds, Gothard tells them they must also follow Old Testament rules regarding sex after childbirth.

Hi Rhondella, so sorry for veering off topic! I think Jill and Derick's request that all their guests put a "buck in the truck" spurred the discussion. So sorry!

That's a website site run by two fans, but they are sometimes privy to little nuggets of info that the Duggars give them to leak.

In Catholic weddings I have been to here in the South, the bride wears a wristlet purse (smallish) and people tuck money into that as they dance or give her a hug. And they usually have big sit down dinners and free booze. So you might put in whatever you would have spent on dinner and drinks. At baptist weddings I have been to, I've not seen that because there usually isn't any dancing. And they usually just have a fruit tray, cake, nuts and maybe mints. Jill's is the first baptist wedding I have seen where the couple begs for money. As the daughter of millionaires and someone who is quite wealthy in her own right, her begging from money from her wedding guests seems to be in very bad taste. Especially when she knows that probably well over half the wedding guests live in poverty or near it because of the Gothard cult rules that force repetitious child birth whether the family can afford to support the children or not.

The thing about Gothard, I suspect Jim Bob is very afraid of disconnecting from Gothard even though Gothard's sexual perversion is now known. He claimed to one audience in a book signing interview that they didn't follow Gothard, but shortly after that he and Michelle spoke at Gothards biggest homeschool meeting in Big Sandy, TX. And if you ask me, Gil Bates has spiritual blood on his hands for being on Gothards board of directors and allowing Gothard to get away with his sex abuse. I wish Bill Gothard's victims would start a silent protest at every single Duggar and Bates wedding from here on out.
