Pet Peeves: Aka Things That Make You Go "Gah!"
AgentRXS replied to Betweenyouandme's topic in Everything Else
I lived in my last apartment for almost 13 years and had to move because new upstairs and next door neighbors were constantly playing loud bass heavy music almost 24/7 and both my landlord and the condo association refused to address the issue. Loud bass-heavy music is my biggest peeve ever--in both homes and cars. Why do people have to play it so loud that EVERYONE can hear it? Nobody wants to hear it, no one thinks your cool because you have the loudest system ever. All it does is make everyone think of you as an obnoxious asshole. Sorry you have to deal with that crap. I hate apartment living. -
That's to be expected, given how much plastic surgery she had during the show (and whatever little nip and tucks she's had since). It kind of saddens me how old John looks (because it reminds me I'm getting old too) , but he does look like an average 65 year old man to me.

I got my cats a cat tree for Christmas. Diamond has no interest as of yet but Ella is in love with this hoop seat. It's her new curl-up spot. The lighting in my apartment is total crap but decided to post the photo anyway.

Relationship Thread: Advice, Venting And Everything Else
AgentRXS replied to MH319's topic in Everything Else
Yup, if she knew you were too intoxicated to even inform her of your address, then she knew you were too intoxicated to give your consent. To me, that's rape. Hell, you could have been the sexual aggressor in your drunken state, she still should have known better. She could have easily placed you on her couch for the night instead of in her bed. If you were both drunk, then it gets into a grayish area. It sounds like she was sober enough to remember everything, so yeah, if you were too impaired to give proper consent, its rape. -

My peeve is I'm tired of certain someone of a high political ranking spending their weekends at certain country club in the county over from mine. Its all over the news and newspapers as if it isn't old hat by now. The traffic along the border of that county and mine is always worse due to people being forced to reroute due to detours. Also, to be less than 50 miles from there in this day and age where anything can happen, makes me extremely nervous every visit. -
I haven't used my OKC profile in ages so OKC is either going to delete my profile or its going to sit there collecting dust forever. When I saw that email, I was like "Nope, never going on that site again". To make up a fake "real" name seems silly, being required to give out your real name takes power away from the user. I don't need every creep knowing my real name. I just don't see the point of telling OKC my name is Sabrina (for example) when its not. Then if I meet someone I really like I have tell him my name isn't really Sabrina but I'm just using it for OKC. And that just makes everything seem pointlessly annoying. Bye, OKC.

Just let it go and ignore him. Let him spend his money on whatever he wants to get her, and give the gifts you've already purchased. Tough shit if your mom doesn't like it or if it doesn't live up to anyone elses standards. The way the both of them have been treating you, they should consider themselves lucky that you are even visiting for Christmas. I remember you posting about the Thanksgiving fiasco; if I were you, I wouldn't even be going there for Christmas. Your mother and brother don't deserve a daughter/sister like you.

Interesting that Natalie West is returning. Thrilled that Anne-Marie is returning!

Don't get disheartened if you don't get a quick response. This time of year is the busiest time for shelters/rescues---I would follow up with a phone call or (if they have a brick-and-mortar facility) even a in-person visit with the rescue. I would suggest following @raven's excellent advice in the meantime.

@JTMacc99 I would contact the Italian Greyhound rescues in your area, if there are any. Talking to them may help you decide how you want to proceed on this issue.

I like yellow and orange bell peppers but I can't stand the green or red ones. The green ones especially, I tend to get a headache after eating them for some reason. It annoys me that in a bag of pre-sliced peppers, it always seems to be filled with mostly red ones, so I don't even bother getting it because I'd throw away most of the bag. -
So my grandmother on my dad's side passed away today. I haven't seen her in years due to her health issues. My (step)dad has never invited me to Pennsylvania (which is were she lived in later years) to meet his side of the family (I've only met two of his sisters who have visited FL). He's been my father ( though not legally, but in every other way that counts) since age 2, so I never understood it but grew to accept it. She loved me like a granddaughter, though, and treated me equal to my sister. She's been in declining health since the beginning of this year, and my dad went up to visit her just 2 weeks ago, because he had a feeling she wasn't long for the world. I tried to get my sister to go up and visit, but she thought my dad was exaggerating and that my grandmother had enough time left for her to go visit at a later time. I feel so bad that my sister didn't get a chance to say goodbye. Even though I haven't seen her in awhile, I'll miss her hugs, her cooking (she made the best chicken I have ever tasted), our walks on the beach, our trips to the mall. At least she lived until 93 and had a full life....I hope my sister and dad take comfort in that.

We have now entered into '80s soap-opera-montage territory. Somewhere Frank Darabont is laughing his ass off at what a shitshow this has turned into.

I was assuming Carl's death was going to occur because Chandler would be going to college soon. I can't believe it was Gimples idea. I feel like Rick hitting Negan with the wrong side of Lucille was the show's jump the shark moment for me. That was really beyond ridiculous. I'll still see this show through til the bitter end, but that doesn't mean that I'm not disgusted with the rut it is in now or its pacing. Gimple needs to be replaced as showrunner.

@bilgistic This is exactly how I feel about Miami/Ft.Lauderdale. And South FL has never been respected its own history. It makes me so sad to feel this way about my hometown because I LOVE and miss the Miami (especially Miami Beach) of the 80s/early 90s. It was nothing but old retirees and delis. Now its full of trendy douchebags. Investors from Latin America and Russia are the ones buying up these new properties down here. A lot of them sit half empty and the other half are rented out to people who then sublet rooms to make their rent. And yes, most of these houses are stacked one on top of the other with no lawn space. It so sad because almost all of the green space is gone at this point. Now they've taken to converting golf courses to residential areas. I hate this construction boom. Our roads weren't meant to handle the amount of traffic they are adding to these areas. It just makes me so frustrated. -

@Mindthinkr I could only dream of owning a house and having a plethora of critters to feed in my backyard. Unfortunately, I live in an area where even a house in poor condition in a bad neighborhood or a shoebox goes for no less than $150,000. Average homes in good neighborhoods are in $400k-$600k range. Not affordable for a single, working-class gal such as I. So that leads to lack of affordable housing as a major peeve. They keep destroying wildlife habitats to build new homes, and almost all of them are catered to the rich or at least upper-middle-class: "Luxury homes starting at $800k!". So many people down here are just waiting for the housing market to crash again so they can afford to buy a place. I have a feeling we will all be waiting awhile, though. -

I'm not Walnut Queen (unfortunately) but I know that it happens to me if my computer takes too long to process my "like" and I end up double-clicking on the heart. -

Good news. I have a friend who just adopted a paralyzed-from-the-waist-down kitten. She said she may be interested in the spare cat tree parts to make him a modified tree that he could safely use. That would be so cool if she actually takes them and does that with them. -

Thanks for all the suggestions.. Inexplicably, the girls like the blue hooded bed that came with it (never mind that they have a brown hooded bed and beehive shaped bed that they've used once or twice then ignored). I'll think it over and decide whether to got Home Depot and try to get the posts made or to just donate the rest of the stuff. -

So I ordered a cat tree from Chewy since they were on sale. I was able to find a $70 cat tree for $40. I ordered it, it arrived today...and I have the base and all the seats but no poles to attach it to. Called Chewy and they said I can't get a replacement because that model is all out of stock. They are refunding me but they refused to take the rest of the items back. Not sure what I'm supposed to do with or where to put these useless cat tree parts. The rep said she would call me when they get the model in stock again, but by that time they will be back to full price, which I'm not willing to pay. SMH -

Pet Peeves: Aka Things That Make You Go "Gah!"

Every day this past week I've woken up with a terrible sinus headache/pain on the right side of my face. Nothing makes me feel more refreshed in the morning than feeling like half of my head is swollen and going to explode. On top of that, I didn't sleep well last night, and was woken up this morning by the sound of landscapers mowing my neighbor's yard. Yay. -

Yeah, most shelter/rescue vet techs will age a cat at 3 since it's a safe age to assume for an adult cat. Chances are if he has white fur growing he is probably an older cat. If his teeth are slightly discolored yellow, he could be be between 3-7 years of age. If they are very yellow, then he's likely older than 7. Of course, it he's had a good cleaning either before or since you got him, that distorts that method.
