  1. An age appropriate foreign fiancé? Is the rapture coming?
  2. I had no idea a new season had started. We just buried last season’s losers and we’re already on a new set? Can I get a breakdown? This man sounds like Balki.
  3. LOL I’m sure that error filled sales pitch was copied and pasted from some other Plexus pimp. It has all the standard MLM jargon, peppered with a couple of God and Jesus talking points. I’m surprised they didn’t throw, “trust the process” in there for good measure.
  4. NPR The Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) just voted to uphold the expulsion of churches with female pastors. Under his eye.🙄
  5. Is that a very pregnant andKaylee forcibly joyfully painting her brother’s house?
  6. I’m imagining the two girls in the bottom right corner whispering to each other, “you know this is bullshit right?” I wonder who took the photo, Janessa?
  7. Olivia Plath and her sister said that Olivia was appointed to be the spy/snitch by their parents and their parents would gaslight Olivia by telling her how good and responsible she was and they knew they could always rely on her. I can remember JB and J’chelle using a lot of the same language to describe Jill. If Jill was the snitch, it’s probably not a job she volunteered for. It’s probably not a coincidence that Olivia said she was triggered by the documentary, particularly Jill’s segments.
  8. The photo she took of the Rodlets “praying” looked torturous. They were all crouched together on their knees on the floor in a tight huddle underneath an a/c unit with their heads buried in a pull out sofa bed. I wonder what time it was when the photo was taken. I’m sure Jill’s reading all the social media buzz about the documentary and she’s super defensive. I hope at least one of the Rodlets watched Shiny Happy People.
  9. Sadly, Arkansas has some of loosest child labor laws in the country. So many people failed the Duggar 19. Seems like the the only people who didn’t exploit them, and expressed concern from the very beginning are the very snarkers who they think hate them.
  10. It looks like prison bible study. I can see these photos being featured later in the next Netflix cult documentary.
  11. Look at that gangly cricket back there cheesing. Why don’t you stay home with the children and let her enjoy a couple of hours of pampering? I hope the manicurist put every color of the rainbow on those big hobbit feet.
  12. I listened to the IG live stream that Olivia did with her sister, Lydia. It was sort of unfocused and meandering, but I was able to pick out a few points: Olivia is a year and a half older than her sister, Lydia. Both sisters agree that Olivia was parentified. The girls were not close growing up because the parents pitted them against each other. Lydia was rebellious so the parents had Olivia spy on her. Lydia had a cell phone that she wasn’t supposed to have and Olivia ratted her out. Olivia had two pairs of pants growing up. One was a pair of corduroys that she was told to wear to tend to the animals in the barn. She used to have an intense fear that the pastor who lived nearby would see her wearing them and that he would admonish her from the pulpit. Neither girl is in touch with their parents and they are not allowed to talk to their younger siblings. They did get to talk to them at their brother’s funeral. Olivia met Ethan and the Plaths at a conference given by the Pearls. She thought he was cute. Although she had begun wearing pants and shorter skirts, she gave that up and reverted back to long skirts and modest wear once she and Ethan started “dating.” She hated the word “courtship” and would tell people that she and Ethan were dating. The girls grew up with a controlling and domineering father and Olivia vowed to never go back to that, so when she met the Plaths, she thought Barry was so laid back that things would be different. She never considered the controlling and domineering mother. Lydia said she felt their mother was the more domineering and controlling one and that Olivia didn’t see that because she knew how to “play the game” with their mom. Olivia said that all her siblings (other than Lydia) “went back” to her parents, and all the Plath kids also went back so I’m guessing that includes the brother that lived with her. She never mentioned if she and Ethan are still together. Olivia said that just because someone changes their outside appearance by wearing shorter skirts or getting piercings, they can still have the same beliefs. She is no longer Christian but considers herself spiritual. She never quite said what was so triggering about the Duggar doc, but seemed to allude to Jill’s situation with TLC. She frequently said she wasn’t able to talk about certain things but would like to write a book or do a podcast with her sister.
  13. Sarah Posner has written an opinion piece on the documentary. https://www.msnbc.com/msnbc/amp/rcna87740 Although she applauds the filmmakers for exposing these people and their ilk, she says much of the material relies on the work of journalists that they left largely uncredited. She wrote a piece in 2015. One of the grossest parts of the doc for me wasn’t even the faux spanking demonstration. It was the fact that, that sicko asked a crowd of parents to donate a child to him to demonstrate on. And they did it! They passed the child up like he was some type of sacrifice. I’ve watched a lot of cult documentaries and that guy looked no different than Jim Jones, Warren Jeffs, or L. Ron Hubbard.
  14. Here ya go! It’s available on YouTube now: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=LBqPkIXtblw “I Survived Kissing Dating Goodbye.” It’s a few years old now, so Josh was still deconstructing and still married. He’s since divorced. I think the title should’ve been “I Apologize for Writing I Kissed Dating Goodbye.”
  15. At first, I thought his disgusting attacks on Jazz Jennings were merely the rantings of a bitter, ill-raised, fugly man-baby. Looking at the way the LGBTQ+ community is being targeted in this current climate, Alex Harris’ explanation of their infiltration of law and politics, and Derrick’s legal career, it seems the bullying of Jazz was just a component of a more insidious strategy. I remember when the Duggar girls and their new husbands started posting on social media. First it was Ben’s “Hey you teens!” post and Jessa’s stupid kissing photo. Even Jeremy the Poseur’s “look at me, I wear Air Jordans and eat burgers, I’m just like you” seem to all be a part of an incredibly dangerous Christian nationalism campaign. I watched Josh Harris’ documentary so I don’t know why I didn’t connect the dots. Josh’s book gave birth to the Derricks and Bens and other social media influencers who were raised to believe they are warriors in an apocalyptic world and spreading their bastardized version of Christ’s teachings in whatever way they can is their weaponry. Derrick scares me because he is part of that educated class of the Joshua generation that Alex described. With his platform, I think he has the potential to do some serious damage.
  16. Now that I know what the Joshua Generation is, I’m convinced Derrick is a part of it.
  17. With Olivia I think it’s probably a little bit of both. If I remember correctly, Olivia’s mother was originally a school teacher and her father was involved in IT of some sort before they moved the whole family to a farm somewhere. So she’s also someone who had somewhat of a normal life pre-cult. I’m going to cut her some slack considering her little brother was just killed. Not to mention her situation with her nutty in-laws. The documentary probably did trigger some very raw emotions.
  18. It stuck out to me when one of the documentary’s participants said her parents started drinking the kool-aid when she was in 7th grade and that’s when they pulled her out of school and began home schooling. I think those 12 or 13 years of previous exposure to the outside world were probably helpful in her being able to deconstruct. She seemed to know all along that Gothard’s teachings were bullshit, as opposed to someone like the Duggar or Rod kids. I wonder if Jill Duggar’s eldest child will have any memories of his time in public school.
  19. Have you seen The Family on Netflix? It’s a documentary based on the book of the same name. It goes more in depth on the shady dealings of these people and their true intentions.
  20. Quoting myself here. It makes sense now. Alex Harris is the younger brother of none other than Josh Harris, author (and now denouncer) of “I Kissed Dating Goodbye.” The book is the basis for many of these groups’ ridiculous courtship rules. Josh Harris is now divorced and I believe non-Christian. I follow him on social media.
