scrb February 9, 2019 Share February 9, 2019 They’ve been advertising the hell out of this one.  What’s the deal, the main character is CGI while the rest are human? Or just her creepy large eyes are CGI? Uncanny valley territory? Link to comment

SimoneS February 9, 2019 Share February 9, 2019 (edited) I have read a couple good reviews, but the CGI Alita with the huge eyes creeps me the hell out so I am not watching until it hits Blu Ray, if then. She reminds me of the characters in anime porn which totally freaks me out. Edited February 9, 2019 by SimoneS 1 Link to comment
Lugal February 9, 2019 Share February 9, 2019 I thought I saw somewhere they wanted to do a photo-realistic version of anime eyes (which is kind of an oxymoron), which is just drops her straight into Uncanny Valley. Link to comment
TigerLily20 February 10, 2019 Share February 10, 2019 I read this manga when I was in high school, was one of my favorites.....not sure how I feel about seeing it in movie form since it never usually translates well....guess we will see.... Link to comment
MrsR February 15, 2019 Share February 15, 2019 The eyes ended up not bothering me at all. Narratively it's disappointing. Soooooo much bad exposition. All the history and the explanation for the world is done through talk, talk, talk. To much tell and not enough show. Finally we get to the action.  It's like a late 80's early 90's action film with really good CGI. Part Robo Cop, Judge Dread, Roller Ball etc. 3 Link to comment

Notwisconsin February 16, 2019 Share February 16, 2019 Just saw it. It's what is known as a "gilded turd." Sometimes anime should stay anime. Link to comment
TigerLily20 February 16, 2019 Share February 16, 2019 Went to see it this weekend, as a fan of the manga there were some disappointments (no Flan!) and while I understand having to try to cram some information into a shorter movie, they really started blending story lines so that was a bit frustrating to me. And yeah the eyes were bugging the crap out of me, I mean I know she's mainly a cyborg but some on, her head was still human...ugg anyway, with that being said, if I think of it as a "cliff notes" version it works, at least a better manga adaption than lets say Dragon Ball...... My husband who has never read the manga really liked the movie, yeah it was clunky at times but he enjoyed the story quite a bit. I also enjoyed seeing Rollerball in real life also : ) 1 Link to comment
scrb February 17, 2019 Share February 17, 2019 Looks like the reviews aren't strong. But is that Jennifer Connelly in the scenes they show in the commercial? Link to comment

Would you care if your granma had a cyborg arm, that made it easier for her to make you that vege soup you lke so much, or just lose it, cos she's got no arm?...Focus, sunshinesoutyourarse. krankydoodle August 9, 2019 Share August 9, 2019 I had low expectations for this, so I was surprised that I enjoyed it some. It had a lot of problems and I was frustrated that they left a lot unexplored, like how URM lost the war even though they seemed to have superior tech, but I guess the movie was already overstuffed. I was happy to find out that even though the scene didn't make it into the movie, the little dog seemingly killed by Grewishka survived: Link to comment
