Legends of Tomorrow star Jes Macallan previews how Ava handles Sara's abduction By Chancellor Agard April 30, 2021 https://ew.com/tv/legends-of-tomorrow-jes-macallan-season-6/ Quote ... David Ramsey came in and directed, and it's a Western episode. Who doesn't want to see a Western? It's beautiful. What was it like working with David? David was awesome! He just brought such a wonderful energy. It was so great. I mean, Maisie [Richardson-Sellers] directed this year, David directed this year. He's not a first-time director — I know he directed on Arrow — but Maisie certainly was and I was, and then Caity [directed her] second episode. It was just really awesome to see different people come in and have their chance at bat, and he had a huge episode. It was gigantic in a lot of ways. They're all huge, but his was an undertaking, and he handled it with grace and style. I've already seen the locked-up [episode], and everybody is going to be blown away. And my partner is also in that episode as well. So I'm also biased. Beyond the safety protocols, did you feel like the pandemic had a noticeable effect on the stories you were telling and the scope? Yes and no. I think it's as big as it usually is because it's a big show VFX-wise and obviously they have aliens on top of it, and just the scope of what it's going to be. There certainly was a hammer down on background [actors] and filling any spaces with too many people. We certainly had that with David Ramsey's episode [where] we're in a Western and in a saloon. Or in my episode, I wanted background and it was like, "Is it worth it? Is it worth it to add those people in if you don't really need it for the story?" So those conversations are definitely being had for the safety of the crew and the safety of actors, and everybody. But you'll see that we told the story just the same. I don't think in looking back on any of this that it's lacking. The awesome part is that we got crazy aliens out of it. Edited May 1, 2021 by tv echo Link to comment

Exclusive 'Untitled Horror Movie' Trailer Puts Claire Holt, Katherine McNamara in Peril BY JEFF SNEIDER May 5, 2021https://collider.com/untitled-horror-movie-trailer-claire-holt-katherine-mcnamara/ Quote Last summer, with studio production at a standstill, a group of young actors in quarantine who were eager to get back to work took it upon themselves to make an independent movie about a group of young actors, and today, Collider can exclusively unveil the official trailer for Untitled Horror Movie from director Nick Simon (The Girl in the Photographs) and his co-writer Luke Baines (Shadowhunters). The story is told entirely via computer screens and found footage, and Baines stars alongside Darren Barnet (Never Have I Ever), Tim Granaderos (13 Reasons Why), Claire Holt (The Vampire Diaries), Katherine McNamara (Shadowhunters) and Emmy Raver-Lampman (The Umbrella Academy). They play six vapid, half-famous Hollywood actors who learn that their TV show is on the brink of cancellation. Willing to do anything to save their careers, they decide to shoot their own horror movie, only to accidentally summon a violent demonic spirit that starts picking them off one by one. The twist here is that Untitled Horror Movie -- yes, that's the actual title -- is really a comedy, or rather, a tongue-in-cheek satire of showbiz and Gen Z celebrity. There are no doubt thousands of actors who will be able to relate to the out-of-work characters in this movie and their need to create something together, if only to stifle their own boredom as artists. * * * Randy Sinquefield’s Spectrum Studios financed the Untitled Horror Movie, which was produced by Bronwyn Cornelius and Marina Stabile. In keeping with the tongue-in-cheek tone of UHM, the aptly-named (Yet) Another Distribution Company will release the film June 15 on VOD and digital platforms like iTunes and Amazon following a special live-stream premiere event on June 12, for those who want a sneak peek. For now, watch the trailer below, and keep an ear out for the tasty jam "So It Goes" by Guards, because it's a cool summer bop that deserves way more love on YouTube. tv echo May 15, 2021 Share May 15, 2021 (edited) Superman & Lois boss teases David Ramsey's turns as director and Arrow's Diggle By Chancellor Agard May 14, 2021https://ew.com/tv/superman-lois-david-ramsey-episode-7/ Quote The actor is slated to appear as his Arrow character, John Diggle, and direct several episodes across the CW's shared superhero universe this season. His first stop (or at least the one that's airing first) is the May 25 episode of Superman & Lois, which he helmed but doesn't appear in. Titled "Man of Steel," the hour explores "Luthor's [Wolé Parks] backstory quite a bit," Superman & Lois showrunner Todd Helbing revealed during EW's Around the Table with the freshman drama's cast. * * * In a second interview conducted after the roundtable, Helbing discussed why he thought Ramsey was the right choice for that pivotal episode. "The stuff he [directed] on Arrow was fantastic," he said. "Just getting into the Luthor character and the backstory, and really getting into his motivations and why he's doing what he is, I think David, having played John Diggle, could just bring his expertise [from] the Arrowverse on how to tell those stories. So I thought he would be a perfect fit for it." * * * In terms of his appearance as Diggle, that comes later in Superman & Lois' season. The last time we saw Diggle, he was getting ready to move his family to Metropolis when he found a bright green object at the site of meteor crash, which was a nod to the prevailing fan theory he was destined to become Green Lantern John Stewart. As of right now, it's unclear if that will play into Diggle's Superman & Lois visit. "[Our episode] gets into the mentality of where he is in his life based on everything that happened to him over the last [several] years," Helbing said in that second interview. As previously reported, Ramsey will reprise the role of Diggle on Supergirl, The Flash, and Batwoman, and he has a mysterious role on DC's Legends of Tomorrow. According to Helbing, Ramsey's onscreen return was initially conceived as a multi-episode arc across the shows. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic squashed those plans. "There was like a five-episode story," Helbing said. "It was pretty cool. And then because of availability and shutdowns and delays, it was impossible to make it make sense [across the shows]. There's still a through-line, but it's not as A-to-B-to-C [as planned]. Ours is kind of a little bit more of a one-off, but thematically it still plays." We know that Diggle appears in the 12th episode of Supergirl's final season, which was co-written by star Azie Tesfai (who plays Kelly Olsen) and co-producer J. Holtham. That hour will address racial inequality and mark Kelly's debut as the shield-wielding vigilante Guardian. It remains to be seen how Diggle figures into the other shows. Here's the video link to EW's Around the Table with S&L's cast and showrunner (referenced in the article above):https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGc69G4rcu4&t=1934s ETA: DR will reprise his role as John Diggle on the 12th episode of Superman & Lois (as previously posted, DR also directed the 7th episode of Superman & Lois)... KryptonSite Interview: Superman & Lois Showrunner/EP Todd Helbing by Craig Byrne May 17, 2021http://www.kryptonsite.com/kryptonsite-interview-superman-lois-showrunner-ep-todd-helbing/ Quote What was it like to have David Ramsey directing for the show? [Todd Helbing:] David is awesome. I was obviously a huge fan of Arrow. On crossovers, I worked with him a little bit. I thought the work he did directing-wise was fantastic, and just thought for that episode, his style and his knowledge would be a huge asset. And he just killed that episode. It’s one of my favorites this season, for sure. It’s awesome. What can we expect when David Ramsey actually appears on the show as John Diggle? Originally, we were going to do a five-episode story with Ramsey, where they all tied together. COVID kind of killed that, like so many things [that could have happened] this season, so we had to adjust slightly. In our episode, you really get his mentality, and you understand where he is emotionally after everything that he experienced on Arrow. Is he the only character from another series that we might be seeing this season? This season? Yeah. Edited May 19, 2021 by tv echo 3 Link to comment
tv echo May 19, 2021 Share May 19, 2021 (edited) Will Diggle Become a Green Lantern? David Ramsey Previews His Arrowverse Return, First Look at 'Mystery Role' By Matt Webb Mitovich / May 17 2021https://tvline.com/2021/05/17/arrow-diggle-green-lantern-journey-david-ramsey-flash-legends-of-tomorrow/ Quote Ramsey’s spring/summer trip through the Arrowverse officially kicks off Tuesday, May 25, with the episode of Superman & Lois that he directed. As for his series of on-camera appearances, he first will be seen on the Sunday, June 13 episode of Batwoman. * * *TVLINE | First off, are you directing every episode you’re guest-starring in, and guest-starring in every episode you’re directing? [David Ramsey:] Close. I am guest-starring in about five different episodes, and I am directing three — but it doesn’t work out that I’m directing all the episodes I’m guest-starring in. On Legends, for example, I’m guest-starring and I’m also directing; same with Supergirl. The third one I’m directing is Superman & Lois, but on a different occasion I will be guest-starring; I won’t be directing the one I’m in. * * *TVLINE | Some Arrowverse fans may be assuming that your Legends mystery role is the one to watch for as far as any “green” matters, but from what I’ve heard it’s your other guest appearances that really tell that story. That’s true. There was some press that was out there that I’m playing a mystery character on Legends, and from that kind of wording there was an assumption that because obviously Legends has a time ship, and they go through time and space, fans connected that to the Green Lantern Corps…. Also, the last time you saw Diggle, he was on his way to Metropolis and was intercepted by a glowing, green box, so it was a logical step in assuming that…. But on Legends, there’s a different character all together. It’s a historic character, a historical Western character (see exclusive photo above). To your other point, which is exploring what has happened to Diggle since encountering that green box, that will be explored in the other episodes – on Batwoman, Flash, Superman & Lois, and Supergirl. Whatever was in the box, he refused the invitation of. Let’s put it like that. But there are consequences to that. We’ve gone to great lengths over the years to make Diggle one of the more grounded characters. Any time he would go fast with Flash, he would throw up, and he was always amazed when he saw someone flying. All these things were kind of otherworldly to him, because he was a very earthbound hero. And after Crisis, he got back his wife, who was abducted by the Monitor, and he got back his daughter Sara, who was taken out of existence by Flashpoint. So part of Diggle’s story is that the last thing he would want to do right now is receive an invitation from something otherworldly, because he finally has his family back, and he lost his best friend to some otherworldliness. So he refused the invitation of whatever was in the box, but there are consequences to that, and that story, what he will do next, is part of what we tell throughout these four episodes. * * *TVLINE | Of all the characters that Diggle runs into on the four shows, does anyone possibly have insight into exactly what he’s been dealing with? Has anyone “heard tell of a corps of galactic law enforcers” or anything like that? No, we don’t get into that. This is a very, very, very preliminary [look at] what happens from this refusal, and what it means to his destiny. We simply get into the preliminary physical effects of his refusal of whatever it was in that box. TVLINE | Your first guest stop is on Batwoman. What takes Dig to Gotham, because best that I recall, he doesn’t know anybody there, right? Headaches. Debilitating headaches. And he’s hearing voices. He goes to Gotham to get help with this, to see a physician there, and in the meantime, his A.R.G.U.S. story continues. His wife is still head of A.R.G.U.S. and he’s co-head, and that’s part of what he brings when he goes to these cities. He’s there to assist and help in whatever way he can with his access to A.R.G.U.S. That’s a very big part of who he is. TVLINE | So we’ll at least get a mention of Lyla, even if we don’t see her. Without a doubt. Life for Diggle post-Crisis continues in the sense that he is a father and he continues to be an earthbound hero, but his duties at A.R.G.U.S. have multiplied. But within that, he’s hiding something, and that’s part of what we’re telling in these stories. TVLINE | Will there be any other Arrow mentions? Like, will we hear that Laurel is now doing NFT paintings…?[Laughs] How did you know that? Uh, no. We mention Oliver and his relationship with Oliver in these stories, but that’s the extent of mentioning the past and his life with Arrow. We really are trying to show that John Diggle has moved on from that, yet there’s something that’s pulling him — something that’s a lot more bigger, and far more cosmic — than he’s letting on. Legends of Tomorrow star Nick Zano teases a Nate-Zari 2.0 team-up, season 6's 'best episode' By Chancellor Agard May 21, 2021 https://ew.com/tv/legends-of-tomorrow-nick-zano-season-6-episode-4-preview/ Quote [NICK ZANO:} Well, we had a Western episode this season, which David Ramsey directed. And when you read certain scripts in certain episodes of the season, and you're like, "Oh, this is going to be a big episode." This Western was, I think, by far our biggest episode of the season. And it took a lot of work, a lot of manpower, a lot of plowing through when the elements weren't on our side. And I got to see a rough cut of it. And I was like, "Well, hot damn, this is a fantastic episode. I can't wait for people to see it." Because while we're making it, it was so difficult. And when I saw it cut, I was like, "This may be one of our best episodes of the season." It feels like you haven't gotten too many opportunities to work with David Ramsey before. What was it like collaborating with him as both an actor and director? First thing I said to Ramsey on the first day was, "Ramsey, this is SNL by comparison to Arrow." I was like, "Enjoy the ride and have fun." And Ramsey was great. He put out a really fantastic episode. I know for him, this thing represented a ton of challenges that he persevered through and out of it came a really phenomenal episode of our show. Edited May 22, 2021 by tv echo Link to comment

According to Ramsey, this has been in the works since November 2019 — but then the pandemic happened, and not even the combined forces of Superman, Supergirl, and the Legends could stop that. * * *[ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY:] Where do we find Diggle when he returns to all these shows? What is he dealing with?[DAVID RAMSEY:] He was on his way to Metropolis and was intercepted by a glowing green box. Whatever was in that box, he refused its invitation. There are consequences for that. This is the very preliminary story of telling what those consequences are. We find John Diggle as a co-leader in ARGUS with his wife. He's going to Gotham, Smallville, and National City as an ARUGS leader. That's his day job. But he's hearing voices; he has debilitating headaches. And he's hiding them from the other members of the Arrowverse shows, who he's helping as an ARGUS member. So he's coming there with a purpose, but he's also hiding something. The more we tell the story, the more we begin to hear what these voices are, particularly on The Flash. Edited May 24, 2021 by tv echo Link to comment

After spearheading the crowd-funded original film, the cousins are set to reprise their roles in the sci-fi sequel Code 8: Part II. Jeff Chan is also returning to direct. Chan also penned the screenplay with Chris Paré, who wrote Code 8, as well as Sherren Lee and Jesse LaVercombe. The plot centers on the 4% of people living in fictional Lincoln City who possess special abilities and are often confronted by advanced, militarized police technology. It’s a sci-fi fantasy about the extraordinary power that we as individuals hold, versus the technological superiority of the institutions that we live within. The sequel follows the journey of a teenage girl fighting to get justice for her slain brother at the hands of corrupt police officers. Together, they face a highly regarded and well protected police sergeant who will use every tool to prevent himself from being exposed. * * * XYZ Films is handling sales and will serve as executive producer. tv echo June 6, 2021 Share June 6, 2021 (edited) I only quoted some nonspoilery comments by Beth Schwartz below (do not go to article link and read article if you don't want to be spoiled about Sweet Tooth's ending)... SWEET TOOTH CREATORS UNPACK THE SHOW’S “SURREAL” COVID-19 CONNECTIONS Isaac Feldberg June 4, 2021https://www.inverse.com/entertainment/sweet-tooth-ending-explained-interview Quote Beth Schwartz: I was finishing post-production on the final season of Arrow for The CW. I’d just had a baby, who was about six months old when I got a call from Warner Bros. They said, “You need to watch this pilot. We’d love for you to join the show, and we think you’re especially going to love it as a new mom.” They were 100 percent right! I watched Jim’s beautiful pilot, fell in love with Gus, and felt like it was so different from anything else I’d seen. * * *BS: I’d just come from another comic-book adaptation, which was completely different. Obviously, it was a superhero show, and we had 23 episodes in a season and burned through plot in almost every one of them. That was something that Downey, Jim, and I had to figure out. What’s the rhythm of the first season? How much plot do we go through in an episode? It became clear in the beginning that this was all about character. Their emotions and what they were going through trumped our plot and how fast we burned through story. Beth, coming off Arrow, was it difficult to adapt another comic away from that world? BS: For me, personally, it felt freeing to do something different. I was on Arrow for eight seasons, and I loved working on it. I definitely brought a lot of the tools I learned on Arrow over to Sweet Tooth. But it’s just such a different story in every way. Our hero is a child with antlers, and it’s tonally so different. I don’t think we felt the pressure of adapting it to compete against other comic-book shows. We had such a rich IP that Jeff Lemire created, that we were able to take those characters and make it something of our own. As long as we all loved it, we were hopeful everyone else would feel the same. Edited June 6, 2021 by tv echo Link to comment

tv echo June 13, 2021 Share June 13, 2021 (edited) FYI, Michael Waldron, who was the head writer on Loki and who also wrote the script for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, was the original creator of SA's new series, Heels (on Starz)...https://collider.com/michael-waldron-doctor-strange-2-loki-interview/ Quote How did you make the transition from working on Rick and Morty and what you've done thus far, to all of a sudden working on a Marvel show like Loki? It's not like you have such a long track record of running a show. I'm just curious how you make that jump. WALDRON: Yeah, look, for all you guys know, I'm a hack. I'm still an unknown quantity. It's great. I love it. I love existing in this mysterious space right now. Nobody knows what they're going to get. I mean, I was very fortunate. I had created a show called Heels in 2016 that we sold to Starz. In 2017, they picked it up to a mini room, to a writer's room, which I was the showrunner of, and I ran that room. We wrote the first season, and then we couldn't cast it, so the show didn't move forward. * * *Was it because you just couldn't find your lead actor? What exactly happened? WALDRON: It was a combination of things. The biggest thing was we couldn't get the network to settle on who they wanted to cast in those two lead roles, the roles that eventually Stephen Amell and Alexander Ludwig came to play, because in a show about pro wrestlers, physicality is so important, believable physicality has to be paired with great acting talent and it's just that's tough to figure out. So it was a combination of that, Lionsgate was just in the process of absorbing Starz and everything. Glow had just come out, so it felt like there was a wrestling show. So there was just a lot of factors that came together, probably one of which I was a first time showrunner who, in a lot of ways, didn't quite know how to navigate that political landscape. I was just trying to execute my vision in the best way I could. Edited June 13, 2021 by tv echo Link to comment

tv echo June 20, 2021 Share June 20, 2021 (edited) Heels Creator Michael Waldron Discusses Amell/Ludwig, Sting & More Posted on June 18, 2021 by Jimmy Leszczynskihttps://bleedingcool.com/tv/heels-creator-michael-waldron-discusses-amell-ludwig-sting-more/ Quote Premiering August 15th on Starz, Heels is the story about the men and women who chase their dreams in the world of small-town pro wrestling. In the ring, somebody must play the good guy and somebody must play their nemesis, the "Heel". But in the real world, those characters can be hard to live up to and hard to leave behind. Creator and Executive Producer Michael Waldron has skyrocketed in recent years as a writer in Hollywood. His career began as an assistant for Dan Harmon on Community, which would lead him to an Emmy for his season four work on Rick and Morty. All this hard work paid off for Waldron and he is now the head writer on Marvel's Loki, currently writing Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness for Sam Raimi, has a Star Wars project with Marvel head Kevin Feige (The Mandolorian, Black Widow), and has scored an overall deal with Disney. The eight- episode Starz series Heels, set in a family-owned wrestling promotion within a close-knit Georgia community, showcases the drama both in and outside the ring. * * *Bleeding Cool: You have been working on this project [Heels] for quite a while now. Why has it taken so long to bring this to the screen? Michael Waldron: It was 2017. They picked it up to a writers' room, a mini room, and I ran that. … We wrote the first season but couldn't cast it, couldn't find the right actors to satisfy the network to play those two main parts, and so the show went on a shelf. And I went off and I worked on Rick and Morty and then in 2019 I took over and was doing Loki and that was when Starz approached me about reviving it and you know they brought on Mike O'Malley (Snowpiercer, Glee) who had created Survivor's Remorse for them, as the showrunner and he kind of took the reigns, and I passed the baton to him. * * *BC: You mentioned the casting, How did you get stars Stephen Amell and Alexander Ludwig? Was there any overlap with "Arrow"? MW: He had just wrapped on Arrow. It was, you know, really the stars aligned because Steven is such a tremendous actor. Coming off of Arrow obviously, he's got a huge following but he's just a huge wrestling fan. He's been in the ring. He's wrestled before with WWE and was involved with AEW and so getting him was huge. And then getting Alexander Ludwig, coming off of Vikings to play his brother, his baby brother Ace. It was like suddenly we had just the two perfect guys for these roles. Not just in terms of physicality but in terms of just great dramatic acting chops. So yeah, it all came together around the two of them. Edited June 20, 2021 by tv echo 1 Link to comment
