Soul In Bliss Theatre Co. and The Shakespeare Club present a fast and furious adaption of William Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing. The one-day only performance on Sunday, February 16, benefits College Access Plan, a Pasadena nonprofit that provides free programs in college preparedness and success.

Drawing on the Shakespeare Club’s history and use as a convalescent home for soldiers recuperating from various injuries, this adaptation set during WW2 follows the story of betrothed Claudio and Hero, and the repelled-by-each-other though well-matched couple, Benedick and Hero’s cousin Beatrice. Ultimately, a joint marriage is planned where Claudio is made to marry an incognito bride, and she turns out to be none other than…well that’s the surprise!

In addition to the ticketed performance, there will be a pay-what-you-can matinee dress rehearsal followed by a Q&A with cast and crew on Saturday, February 15. This performance is free for students.

Directed by Richard Kenyon, this performance features: Kristian Bruun (Orphan Black, Carter, Ready or Not); Ryan Belleville (Workin’ Moms); Joe Dinicol (Arrow); Celina Dean (Blindspot); Ana Parsons (The Affair, Adam Ruins Everything); Grace Lynn Kung (Mary Kills People, Star Trek: Discovery); Brandon Firla (Suits, Modern Family); Rick Howland (Lost Girl, Killjoys); Alana Johnston (Upright Citizens Brigade); Inessa Frantowski (Upright Citizens Brigade); Ayumi lizuka (Conan, Jimmy Kimmel Live). The cast and crew will also include a number of local students.

‘Arrow’ Series Finale: What’s Next For The Cast?
By Nicole Massabrook   January 28, 2020
https://www.ibtimes.com/arrow-series-finale-whats-next-cast-2911327

Stephen Amell (Oliver Queen/Green Arrow) won’t be gone from the small screen for long. He will star in “Heels,” a wrestling drama on premium cable network Starz. Kelli Berglund, Alexander Ludwig and Alison Luff also star in the eight-episode drama, which follows independent wrestlers.

The Green Arrow actor is also set to reunite with cousin Robbie Amell. Quibi, a streaming service set to launch this year, is developing a spinoff to their film “Code 8,” the crowd-funded sci-fi thriller that hit theaters in December.
*  *  *
Emily Bett Rickards (Felicity Smoak) left the series last year but returns for Tuesday’s series finale. She’ll next star in “We Need to Talk,” an indie dramedy about a self-centered celebrity who hears his girlfriend say, “We need to talk” before she heads to work. He goes on a wild goose chase to figure out what she’ll bring up. James Maslow, Christel Khalil and Tray Chaney co-star.

Colton Haynes (Roy Harper/Arsenal) has finished filming the drama “Triumph.” The movie stars RJ Mitte (“Breaking Bad”) as a teen with mild cerebral palsy as he attempts to join the wrestling team and win over his crush. Terrence Howard (“Empire”) co-stars and executive produces.

Katie Cassidy (Laurel Lance/Black Siren), Juliana Harkavy (Dinah Drake/Black Canary) and Katherine McNamara (Mia Smoak/Green Arrow) are not leaving the Arrowverse, at least if all goes well. The three women are signed on to headline “Green Arrow and the Canaries,” the 2040-set “Arrow” spinoff that was set up in Season 8, episode 9. The CW has not announced if the show has been greenlit yet.  Based on the backdoor pilot, it seems that Ben Lewis (William Clayton), Joseph-David Jones (Connor Hawke) and Andrea Sixtos (Zoe Ramirez) will also have roles in the new Arrowverse TV show.
*  *  *
Paul Blackthorne (Quentin Lance) is filming “Home Invasion,” a sci-fi comedy about a a family of aliens sent to invade earth, and then two burglars choose the wrong house to break into. Morena Baccarin (“Gotham”) also stars in the English-language series, which will premiere in the Nordic region in 2020 on Viaplay.

We all have those moments where we find ourselves seeing a certain celebrity, trying to remember their name, and having no luck. This actor is one of those examples. If you are a frequent TV viewer, you could be surprised to see him. From cameos to minor TV roles, Charlie Barnett has been seen on television many times. This Juilliard alum was raised in Florida where theater became his calling. From then on, he became unstoppable. Here are some shows where you might have seen Charlie Barnett.
*  *  *
With the show beginning in 2012 and ending in 2020, it was only fitting for someone like Charlie Barnett to portray a crucial character for CW’s “Arrow”. Barnett’s role as JJ Diggle explored the actor’s diverse skills as this was antagonistic. This is something you may not have expected. Barnett’s JJ could have caused a stir in the Arrowverse fandom. When you see him you would think he looked familiar. Nonetheless, the actor was born to portray JJ Diggle and fans would agree.

Exclusive: Justice: League Dark: Apokolips War Cast Revealed
By RUSS BURLINGAME - February 21, 2020
https://comicbook.com/dc/2020/02/21/exclusive-justice-league-dark-apokolips-war-cast-revealed/

Quote

Ahead of next week's world premiere of Superman: Red Son in Los Angeles, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has provided ComicBook.com with an exclusive first look at the cast list and the first official still image from Justice League Dark: Apokolips War, a new animated feature that will pit the assembled might of the Justice League Dark and Justice League against Darkseid, the tyrant god of Apokolips, in what marks more or less a direct sequel to Justice League: War, the first movie set in the current continuity of DC Universe animated films. While that story was adapted pretty directly from Geoff Johns and Jim Lee's first arc on Justice League, there is not a story being adapted 1:1 for Apokolips War.
*  *  *
Produced by Warner Bros. Animation, DC and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, Justice League Dark: Apokolips War arrives later this spring, and features the largest Super Hero cast in the history of DC Universe Movies with dozens of actors/characters spotlighted in a grand ensemble of talent reprising their roles from this six-year story continuum. So -- yeah, in a lot of ways, this feels like the DC Universe Movies equivalent of what The CW just did with "Crisis on Infinite Earths."
*  *  *
Matt Ryan (DC's Legends of Tomorrow, Constantine), Jerry O’Connell (The Death of Superman, Satanic Panic, Stand by Me) and Taissa Farmiga (The Nun, The Mule, American Horror Story) anchor the cast as Constantine, Superman and Raven, respectively – the triumvirate determined to assemble the forces necessary to lead humanity’s final attack. Alongside that trio are the long-running core of Justice League voices -- Jason O’Mara (The Man in the High Castle, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) as Batman, Rosario Dawson (Briarpatch, Josie and the Pussycats, Sin City) as Wonder Woman, Shemar Moore (S.W.A.T., Criminal Minds) as Cyborg and Christopher Gorham (Covert Affairs, Insatiable, Ugly Betty) as The Flash – as well as JL-adjacents Rebecca Romijn (X-Men, The Librarians) and Rainn Wilson (The Office, The Meg) as the voices of Lois Lane and Lex Luthor, respectively.

Tony Todd (Candyman, The Flash) is voice of the film’s the key villain, Darkseid. The cast also boasts appearances by Camilla Luddington (Grey’s Anatomy) as Zatanna, Ray Chase (Justice League Dark, Final Fantasy XV video game) as Jason Blood/Etrigan, Roger R. Cross (24, The Strain, Arrow) as John Stewart & Swamp Thing, Liam McIntyre (Spartacus: War of the Damned, The Flash) as Captain Boomerang, Hynden Walch (Teen Titans Go! Vs. Teen Titans) as Harley Quinn, Stuart Allan (Batman vs. Robin, Batman: Bad Blood) as Robin/Damian, Sachie Alessio (Batman: Hush) as Lady Shiva, and John DiMaggio (Futurama, Batman: Under the Red Hood) as King Shark.

LaMonica Garrett | PRIMAL
February 7, 2020
https://www.starburstmagazine.com/features/lamonica-garrett-primal

Quote

Having impressed many a genre fan with his turn as the Monitor and the Anti-Monitor in The CW’s Arrowverse, up next for LaMonica Garrett is a role opposite Nicolas Cage as wild animals and assassins run amok on a ship in Primal. We caught up with the actor to discuss the classic action feel of Primal, his time involved in the huge Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover event, being a big comic book fan, transitioning from the world of sports to acting, and plenty more.

STARBURST: Primal has the feel of an action movie of yesteryear and is a whole lot of fun. How did you become involved in the film in the first place?
LaMonica Garrett:
They had already cast the role I played. They were meant to film maybe six months or a year before they did, and then they brought on board a new director [Nick Powell]. The new director, he saw the people that were cast and they weren’t his people. He wanted to bring his people in, and I had worked with him on another project back in the day. They called me up and offered it to me, and I found out who was involved and I read it. Like you said, it felt like an old school, throwback, ‘90s action film. That’s what I signed up for. It was fun to go out there and work with those guys.

Nic Cage is always going to grab the attention of any movie Nic Cage is in, but as well as yourself there’s names such as Michael Imperioli, Famke Janssen, and Kevin Durand rounding out an impressive ensemble. What was that dynamic like on set?
Whenever you work on location, it’s a fun opportunity to really bond with the cast. We were in Puerto Rico filming, so we didn’t know anyone out there. When you work at home, everyone goes back to their own village and you just go to work and then you take off. In Puerto Rico, we were all we had out there. So after work, we would all go get drinks or have dinner. On our days off we would hang out and go sight-seeing. It was my first time to Puerto Rico. Michael Imperioli had filmed out there a couple of times, and he was showing us around. Nic Cage had filmed out there a couple of times. It was fun. It was a good crew, and we all thoroughly enjoyed each other on and off set.
*  *  *
You’re pretty front-and-centre for some of Primal’s more intense and brutal moments. How were those more dramatic and tense scenes to be involved in?
I think the location we shot in, it lent itself to that feel of tension. It was a claustrophobic environment. We were on that ship for pretty much the whole time. There were low ceilings, it was hot, it was summertime, it was muggy. That tension was in the air without the cameras being on, so when it came time to shoot we just worked with the environment – and I think that came across well on the day.

Did you have much freedom to put your own spin on the character of Ringer?
They gave me some freedom to play around with it. That’s what was great about Nick Powell. He gave everyone some freedom. It wasn’t like when we shoot I was just going to go and do what I wanted to do. Everything was talked about beforehand. We changed some things, took a couple of things out, just to make it work for who we were and what strengths we were bringing to the table.
*  *  *
Before your acting career took off, you were a professional SlamBall player. How did you make the transition from sports and an athletic background to then deciding you wanted to get into acting?
I knew I wanted to get into acting after football was over for me. The NFL didn’t work out for me, so I moved to LA. SlamBall came around, and I still had the competitive bug in me where I wanted to go out and compete athletically. SlamBall came around, I did it, I played at a high level, but in the back of my head I knew I wanted to get into acting. There was a two-episode arc on One Tree Hill where they implemented SlamBall into the season. Joe Manganiello and James Lafferty, they were two SlamBall players on the show. They needed a real SlamBall player to oppose them and be the antagonist on the show. I told the guys, “Look, this is me!” The front office were going to audition established actors to play that role. I told them to let me audition for it, and I got it. I went out to North Carolina to film it, and just being in that environment and seeing television working from the inside, I know that this is what I needed to be doing. That was in 2008. When I flew back to LA, I told them, “I’m finished with SlamBall” and I got into acting classes. From that point on, I’ve just been growing from within the business.

So the spark was already there, just One Tree Hill only further reiterated to you that this is what you wanted to do?
The flame was already lit, the pilot light was there, and that just threw gas everywhere. I knew that this is what I’m supposed to be doing. When I got back to LA, it was no more SlamBall. That was the last SlamBall I played. I got a manager – I’m with the same manager now – and have just been growing since then.
*  *  *
You’ve done a huge comic book event with Crisis on Infinite Earths, you’ve now done an action movie with Nicolas Cage, you’ve had stints on shows like Sons of Anarchy, Designated Survivor, and The Last Ship. Is there a project that stands out as a particular favourite, or is that perhaps an unfair question?
I’ve been living in the moment. When I was on Designated Survivor, that was the best thing ever for me. When I was on The Last Ship, that was amazing. That was like a football/college locker room again, being with those guys in The Last Ship. We just had so much fun. We would go out to San Diego, to the actual naval base and film for the weekend. I’ve been having fun on every job I’ve been on. I just look forward to whatever the next journey and adventure is. I’m sure I’m going to have a ton of fun. But yeah, I’d really like to do more action stuff.

Primal certainly is a great example of how well you can handle the action genre. If there was a dream project for you, would that be something within the action wheelhouse?
It would probably be something like a franchise, like a Bourne Identity-type franchise with layers. Something like John Wick is awesome. Something like that, where it’s movie after movie and it keeps on getting better.
*  *  *
Finally, what’s up next for you that you’re able to tell us about right now?
There’s a film, Clemency, that’s out in theaters right now. I’m not sure if it’s coming to the UK, but it’s getting in more theaters out here and it should be nationwide soon. I’m back to the drawing board now. The Arrowverse took up a lot of time, and now I’m back at the beginning and seeing what’s next.

Primal is on VOD February 10th and out on DVD February 17th.

What these killed off Arrowverse actors are doing today
BY JORDAN BARANOWSKI     FEB. 24, 2020
https://www.looper.com/190271/what-these-killed-off-arrowverse-actors-are-doing-today/

Quote

Michael Emerson (Cayden James) ...
Probably best known for his role on Lost, actor Michael Emerson has pretty much cornered the "That guy is a bad guy... right?" role for a variety of TV shows. His turn as the master hacker Cayden James on Arrow was a fun one, even if his demise was a bit predictable. He has been off the show since 2018, so what's Emerson doing now? We'll give you one guess...

If you said "playing a creepy TV villain," congratulations!

Emerson can currently be spotted on the surprisingly solid CBS show Evil. He plays Leland Townsend who, at this point, is definitely a bad guy and is probably some sort of demon. Evil is Emerson's only current project, but he also played small roles in Mozart in the Jungle and the Italian miniseries Il Nome della Rosa (The Name of the Rose). If you ever watch network TV, you'll probably see Emerson skulking around in a promo somewhere.

Jamey Sheridan (Robert Queen) ...
Robert Queen's death is really the catalyst for the entirety of Arrow, so we would be remiss to not include Oliver's dad on the list. Played by veteran actor Jamey Sheridan, Robert obviously had some serious problems in his past. However, Sheridan played the character so well that it was easy to understand and appreciate the character beyond his more dubious actions.

There is one upcoming film with Sheridan attached to it, and we don't have a ton of details on it. It's a movie called Joyful, and its IMDb plot summary reads "A seven year old boy embarks on a journey to direct a feature film in order to get his mom to return home." That's... about all we got.

If you want to check out Sheridan in some other recent work, he had a small role in a few episodes of HBO's Ballers and he appeared in Lizzie, a thriller about the Borden family murders.
*  *  *
Neal McDonough (Damien Darhk) ...
Damien Darhk had an impressive run as a villain across nearly every show in the Arrowverse. Played by the always impressive Neal McDonough, Darhk proved that you can still be menacing even if your name is spelled in the most ridiculous way possible. He was eventually defeated and killed off (a few times), but you can catch McDonough in several other movies and TV shows.

McDonough has got a lot that is either currently running or releasing soon. His look and demeanor have seen him typecast in military roles, and you can catch him continuing that tradition in movies like Sonic the Hedgehog and The Warrant. He will reprise his Captain America role as Dum Dum Dugan in the Disney+ Marvel show What If...? and he has several other upcoming movie roles with late 2020 and early 2021 release dates.

It isn't just movies that McDonough shows up in, either. He has a recurring role on Project Blue Book and a small, featured role on Altered Carbon. He's a versatile actor that you're sure to spot somewhere.
*  *  *
John Barrowman (Malcolm Merlyn) ...
John Barrowman is probably best known as Captain Jack Harkness from Doctor Who and its spin-off, Torchwood. He appeared in several episodes across the Arrowverse shows as Malcolm Merlyn, the Dark Archer. He proved to be an excellent character — Barrowman has such an easy charm that he plays a very believable scoundrel. Appearing on Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow, and The Flash, the character went through several ups and downs as he maneuvered towards his ultimate destiny, finally coming to end in 2019.

Barrowman doesn't have many projects in the works currently, but he did just return to Doctor Who. He appeared in the 2020 episode "Fugitive of the Judoon," the first time he appeared on the show since 2010's "The End of Time: Part 2." Whether this appearance was just a fun callback to a fan favorite character or a hint of a bigger role moving forward with the show remains to be seen.

Stephen Amell (Oliver Queen) ...
Finally, we reach the big one. Crisis On Infinite Earths was the end of the line for Oliver Queen, played by Stephen Amell. Honestly, Amell is the reason the whole series of CW shows worked. He brought so much interest and intensity to his role as Oliver that you couldn't help but buy into the CW's shared universe. Amell was the anchor for the entire Arrowverse since the beginning, so it will be interesting to see how it all holds together now that he has been killed off.

Amell deserves a bit of a break after all the time he put into the Arrowverse, but he's diving right in with a new TV series. Amell plays a lead role as Jack Spade on the Starz series Heels, a drama about the world of small town professional wrestling. Amell himself is a huge fan of professional wrestling — he actually appeared at a few WWE events and wrestled at 2015's Summerslam event, one of the biggest yearly pay-per-view events put on by the WWE. Amell will star in Heels alongside Alexander Ludwig (Vikings), and it is set to premiere in late 2020.

I say this as a person who really enjoys EBR as an actress and hopes she has a long career, but I find her project choices baffling.

I personally understand an actor who needs to experiment with different genres and characters way more than someone who doesn't let themselves get out of their comfort zones. That's how you get type cast when you don't have the luxury to choose anymore.

I was channel surfing and ran across Gene Simmons on a 2014 CSI episode The Long Way Home. Kept watching and was surprised to see that the teenage hooker Tangerine that everyone was looking for was a young Kat McNamara.

A lot of TV actors I really like seem to choose the indie/quirky route after many years of network TV, so it's hard (and used to be much harder pre streaming) to see their next projects and they'd fall odd the radar for long periods of time. I spent a lot of time wishing they'd just want to do another "easy" series. I completely get why they do it from a creative standpoint. If they've been careful with money they can afford it and so many actors really want to but never get the chance to help create their own content. Even if it is a low budget horror film.

Just seen Primeval: New World, wow I'd forgotten they'd made a spin off, and Roger Cross is playing the sceptical yet trying to be supportive animal control partner of Sara Canning's character, weirdly specific type casting there. It's also one of those shows where they just say "fuck it, lets actually set it in Vancouver!" Although that's probably because it's Space Channel not Syfy.

Greg Berlanti is directing and producing this musical remake...

Chris Evans in Talks to Star in Greg Berlanti's 'Little Shop of Horrors' (Exclusive)

Chris Evans is in negotiations to play a key character in Little Shop of Horrors, a new big-screen take of the cult movie turned Broadway musical being directed by Greg Berlanti.

Warner Bros. is behind the project that has been flirting and courting actors since last fall. Scarlett Johansson and Taron Egerton are circling leading roles in the horror comedy, with Billy Porter already signed up.
*  *  *
Little Shop of Horrors is the story of Seymour, a meek florist who works at the aptly named Skid Row Florists, where he is under the thumb of the owner, Mr. Mushnik, but where he also is secretly in love with Audrey, who also works at the struggling shop. Seymour becomes a celebrity when he discovers a venus flytrap-looking plant he dubs "Audrey II," but his life becomes disastrously complicated when the plant demands to be fed human blood, and eventually people themselves.

Egerton and Johansson are in various stages of talks for the respective roles of Seymour and Audrey, although discussions are ongoing and it is unclear if deals will be made. Porter, whose deal is signed, will give voice to the carnivorous plant.
*  *  *
Evans will play the role of dentist Orin Scrivello, Audrey’s abusive and sadistic boyfriend, who finds great pleasure in his chosen profession. The role is flashy (the character loves to use laughing gas) and comes with the scene-stealing signature song, “Dentist!”

Marc Platt, Sarah Schechter and Berlanti are producing the new adaptation, which is set to shoot this summer.
