Spartan Girl November 21, 2018 Share November 21, 2018 Love that Chris Pratt will also voice a caricture of every action guy he's ever played in addition to Emmet. 1 Link to comment
blackwing February 12, 2019 Share February 12, 2019 Anyone see it? I saw it last Saturday and I loved it. The addition of the delightful Tiffany Haddish as Queen Watevra Wa'Nabi was fantastic. I'd give her the equivalent of an Oscar for voice acting if there is such a thing. Her character is as awesome as she is and she had the best songs especially "Not Evil". There's also a song called "Catchy Song" where the lyrics mostly consist of "this song's gonna get stuck inside your, this song's gonna get stuck inside your, this song's gonna get stuck inside your heeeeeaaaadddd!" I don't think it was as fresh or innovative as the first one, being a sequel and all, but I found it eminently enjoyable. 1 Link to comment
RedMal February 13, 2019 Share February 13, 2019 (edited) Surprising how there's no one talking about this, when the first one was such a hit. I liked this one too, not as great as the first one, but still pretty good. I'm one of the few who really disliked Lego Batman and I never saw Ninjago, but the main films are definitely worth watching multiple times. I probably laughed hardest for the Hot tub time machine -reference. Not because it was particularly funny, it just came out of nowhere. Edited February 13, 2019 by RedMal Link to comment
Spartan Girl February 16, 2019 Share February 16, 2019 Saw it tonight and it was funny and cute. Loved all the meta references and cameos, especially Bruce Willis! That was a great running gag. Once again Lego Batman was the best part. I wonder how they're going to retcon all the stuff that happened in this movie when they make Lego Batman 2: "Didn't you marry a giant space queen heart?" "Never happened." "But there was a big wedding with you wearing white..." "NEVER HAPPENED." Link to comment
blackwing February 16, 2019 Share February 16, 2019 I desperately want "Not Evil" to be nominated for Best Original Song at next year's Oscars. I think the production could be amazing... I can picture Tiffany Haddish in a shiny slinky magenta, orange and pink dress slithering around the stage while Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett and the others stand huddled in a group watching her. "She's clearly an evil queen!" 2 Link to comment

blackwing February 16, 2019 Share February 16, 2019 "Gotham City Guys" was great too! Watevra has the best lines in the movie and the songs. "I ain't Selina Kyle. I ain't no Vicki Vale. I was never into you even when you were Christian Baaale." ("I'm more of a Keaton guy myself.") "Oooh I LOVED him as Beetlejuice!" I also really liked the way she manipulates Batman into pleading his case with her (a case that he wasn't even interested in before she started singing the song) and then dismisses him with interjections like "Unsubscribe" and "No thank you, hard pass!" Too funny. 1 Link to comment
kiddo82 February 18, 2019 Share February 18, 2019 Saw it this morning and I have had Catchy Song in my head all day. I anticipate this will be the case for the next week and I plan on bringing everyone in earshot down with me. 1 Link to comment
Zuleikha February 18, 2019 Share February 18, 2019 I saw this with low expectations because I didn't really like the first movie. But I loved it. The music was great, and the parallel plotline of a brother/sister learning how to grow up and play together worked for me much more than the father/son plotline of the first one. I am easy, and Ourmamageddon cracked me up every time it was referenced. Also, I thought the movie handled Lucy/Emmitt so much better! The musical numbers were hysterical, and Catchy Song did not lie. It is stuck in my head. I am Unikitty, and Queen Watevera W'Nabi totally had my loyalty with the glitter planet. 1 Link to comment
nomodrama February 18, 2019 Share February 18, 2019 (edited) I think Catchy Song should get nominated for an Oscar....could you imagine that being preformed live with all those celebrities in the audience and if it won so many brains would explode it would be amazing. All of the songs were great though, even the song played during the credits was fantastic, when they read out the actors names they said something about how they had to work a whole 4 hours a day. This was sooo good. I have 3 kids and I know they didn't catch about half of the amazing jokes that were thrown out there. Best line of the movie though was the one about Marvel not calling them back. Edit to add that Maya Rudolph totally stole the movie at the end with the lego parts.....its no lie, stepping on a lego is straight up there with childbirth. tennisgurl February 20, 2019 Share February 20, 2019 Not quite as fresh as the last movie (mainly because we already kind of know what the deal is) but a ton of fun non the less. I love that the queen really wasnt evil, despite being a terrible communicator, even though I started to expect halfway through the movie that she might really not be evil, as Miller and Lord showed in the first movie they have a real love of playing with tropes and genre conventions. So when people see a world where everyone is happy and bright and sunny, we all just assume there must be some dark underbelly or brainwashing, but this time...everyone was just that happy. Catchy song and Everything's Not Awesome were both great, and I never stopped laughing about the whole space ship piloted by raptors. 1 Link to comment
Joimiaroxeu July 15, 2019 Share July 15, 2019 Just caught this on DVD. I loved the first LEGO movie and LEGO Batman. This? Meh. ZZ Top's Tush used in a kids movie? Okay then. This LEGO movie seemed to me to be aimed more at adults. It could easily have been 20 minutes shorter, IMO. I pretty much checked out after about an hour. I can't imagine how little kids sat through the whole thing when it was in theatres. Batman Flossing was funny to me though. Link to comment
