WhosThatGirl May 11, 2018 Share May 11, 2018 (edited) Speaking as a former high schooler, I went to a regular high school and didn’t take ap classes and I had to take finals senior year. But only like two(Math and history because second semester I wasn’t taking any real classes at that point, I was taking electives. Also.. you didn’t have to take finals if you had gotten As throughout the whole three other semesters but yeah.. I had gotten A B in math and history at one point. My school was odd. Also we never had health finals. We barley even had health tests or homework. Edited May 11, 2018 by WhosThatGirl Link to comment
AMA May 11, 2018 Share May 11, 2018 We actually did have a health class with a final, and it was a required class! But it was usually a freshman class. 2 Link to comment
Lochjessmunster May 11, 2018 Share May 11, 2018 I had written finals in both health and PE. I went to catholic high school, so maybe that makes a difference but I remember the health final being relatively difficult 1 Link to comment
nikkigubb May 11, 2018 Share May 11, 2018 I had a final in my health class and finals my senior year. I went to a public school in the late 90s. In fact, bad snow storms pushed back finals for the first semester of my senior year, and caused creative solutions to get all the second semester senior finals done and graded before graduation. 1 Link to comment
secnarf May 11, 2018 Share May 11, 2018 To this day, it irritates me that Keith texted Veronica to tell her the verdict was in - knowing that she had an exam and what the likely verdict would be. He had to know she would blow off the exam. 5 Link to comment

Also even though the show didn’t know if they were being picked up, I feel like the show was trying to write a way to have a reason to keep Veronica in Neptune. Wasn’t there like a line in this episode that she had to ace all her finals to go to college out of neptune? Or no? Edited May 12, 2018 by WhosThatGirl 1 Link to comment

She needed the Kane scholarship, which also meant she had to beat that other annoying girl. She could have still wrote her exam and lost the Kane scholarship, thus keeping her in Neptune. 1 Link to comment

Also thanks for clearing it up, I know I remembered something about her needing to ace all her exams. I also feel like the show wanted to have a dramatic moment as well as what she was willing to give up. And I get it.. but one the school would have made an exception and two Keith never should have texted her this information, I agree with everyone else. 1 Link to comment

absnow54 May 15, 2018 Share May 15, 2018 This episode has my favorite line delivery of the whole series, when Cassidy and Mac are bickering over how to solve an equation and Weevil throws down his pencil and announces, "Screw it, I'll cheat." Francis Capra deserved an Emmy for that reading. And technically we do see Gia again, in the movie, but I understand why you'd block those memories out, given her fate. And as a New Yorker, I had a billion finals my senior year because of the state mandated regents exams along with AP exams. I also think I had a health final, but we took that class junior year. Question about the Oscar, didn't Kendal plant the Duncan evidence after Casa Echolls burned down? Woudn't Aaron's Oscar have melted along with it? And even so, wouldn't Veronica, or Logan, or the hundreds of guests who passed through the Echolls' house at the Christmas party been able to testify that the Oscar was on display in his house long after Lily's death? I mean, I get that we're still in the days of MySpace (lol) but did no one snap a photo with it at that party? Also, this episode isn't heavy on the "What are Logan and Veroinca anyway?" but I feel like there was a missed opportunity to use the trial (if they were going to shoehorn it in anyway) as a vehicle to push them back together, which would have given both story threads more purpose rather than the "We really want to use Harry Hamlin some more, and the shippers will be really mad at us if we don't get these kids back together" slap job we got. While I actually really like the back half of season 2, I agree with your criticism about the pacing. When you break down each episode independently, there's a lot of "Why are we wasting time on this?" but when you binge through them, I feel like the story flows a bit better. 1 Link to comment
sara416 May 16, 2018 Share May 16, 2018 Definitely had a health final. Health was and still is a required class. For me it took the place of a semester of PE and we had a written final. I know it is still a required credit for high schoolers to graduate. It was standardized and super easy and basic, but we definitely had one. (Public school outside of a major metropolitan area in the late 90s, for what it is worth. I also work with students in high school now and I know the requirements).absnow54, I loved that line as well! Link to comment
John Potts May 22, 2018 Share May 22, 2018 There were gaps on the tape where a third person spoke - there was a reason for this: Spoiler Beaver's plot to make millions required Incorporation to almost succeed but ultimately fail (so prices in "unincorporated" Neptune would tank before the vote but recover once Incorporation failed), so he wanted the tape to get out on the eve of the vote to make it fail when it was poised to succeed. Presumably he deleted his own part of the recording for purely personal reasons. Rich people getting off by use of courtroom antics? I don't buy it... (though yes, the court procedures were completely off). That was a believably SUPER slimy lawyer, though. Presumably Aaron bought off the DAs (and the Kanes didn't oppose)? Still don't understand why the casino owner alibi'ed Terence - is it really worth perjuring himself to get cheap labour? Would cell phones even be ALLOWED in a Final? Don't really buy V would skip her final to see the trial result, either. I thought the V/Wallace farewell scene was cute! 2 Link to comment

Megget00 June 13, 2018 Share June 13, 2018 When Kendall visited Aaron in jail, the deal was for her to get Duncan’s hair to put on the Oscar. That’s why she pulls hair out of Duncan’s shower. However I have no idea how Lilly’s blood was put on it. We know the Oscar wasn’t the murder weapon after all. So who has Lilly’s blood available?Terrence Cook was shot breaking into the teachers parents house. That’s why he was in the hospital. He was there longer because he was put on suicide watch as well. Kel Varnsen March 13, 2019 Share March 13, 2019 Late to the party but really enjoying these podcasts lately. Loved the trial talk, especially because to this day the trial always bugged me. Like I get that there was totally enough reasonable doubt for Aaron to beat the murder charge. And depending on the jury I can totally buy them thinking that Lily was into it and probably the one filming it so a sleazy jury could probably let him pass on any statutory rape or filming a minor charges. But how the hell did he get off on the attempted murder of Veronica? He locked her in a freezer and lit it on fire and the police showed up shortly after. There would be a ton of physical evidence, witnesses, a living victim and no real way to spin the story make sense for him. I get that the story required him to walk but at least have a reason for it. Have him charm a juror and make it a hung jury (with the DA not wanting to go to trial again). Or make it so Leo was the first cop on the scene and us that to paint it as a frame up. But give some reason for it. As for the Kane family not showing up I can buy it. Not that I am any kind of law talkin' guy but if I was the DA I would remind the Kane's that their fucking with the evidence gave Aaron a ton of reasonable doubt. And I am not sure I would want them in the gallery reminding the jury of that every day. 2 Link to comment
