I don't remember this episode AT ALL. It just kept getting worse and worse - Pa gets shot, the horse dies, the guy is blind on and on. Oy.

I'm almost surprised they eventually did an episode that admitted that Minnesota wasn't near an ocean.

I haven't seen it in many decades, but I can still remember exactly the rifle up against the tree, the whole bit. As a kid, I was HORRIFIED when Pa got shot. I guess I didn't know enough about TV then to realize that Michael Landon would never be written off the show.
