PrincessEnnui October 20, 2014 Share October 20, 2014 I saw that on tumblr. Not only did AoT get represented, all of Toonami did. Marge was Ringku(sp?) from Bleach, Homer was Zoro from One Piece, and Bart was Naruto. In short, the Big Three were all there. Of course, Maggie was Pikachu and SLH was Haku from Spirited Away. It was a good night from Simpson's fans who were also anime fans. :) 1 Link to comment
PrincessEnnui June 25, 2015 Share June 25, 2015 Bump. Apparently, there's going to be an Attack on Titan live action movie in Japan. Here's the trailer: 1 Link to comment

Sandman87 August 4, 2015 Share August 4, 2015 As far as I'm concerned, anime is Japan screwing with us. Which is how we end up with characters who want to marry toilets and shows about competitive bread baking. Anyway, that Junior High is apparently a real thing that's happening. 1 Link to comment
the fresh maker August 13, 2015 Share August 13, 2015 This is Attack On Titan: Junior High. Is Japan screwing with us? No, really, I can't tell this time. No. The manga is a real thing: The story follows Eren Yeager and Mikasa Ackerman entering Titan Jr. High, a school where humans and Titans study in the same area in coexistence. Because of a "traumatic" event, where the Colossal Titan ate his lunch back in middle school, Eren hates the Titans, and is constantly trying to find a way to rid the earth of their kind. Because of this, he has a hard time making friends, much to Mikasa's worry. Link to comment
Lantern7 April 9, 2016 Share April 9, 2016 From ComcsAlliance: anthology from Eastern and Western creators to be published in October. This includes Evan Dorkin and Gail Simone, so I might have to boy it. If only there was a better wau to read the previewed material. Link to comment
Lantern7 May 10, 2016 Share May 10, 2016 Checking to see if anybody read the Free Comic Book Day sampler of the anthology. I got drawn to the page from Evan Dorkin, which was in the vein of his "Fun" strips. Awesome stuff. Link to comment

ZoqFotPik April 19, 2017 Author Share April 19, 2017 Just a heads up, Season 2 premieres this Saturday at 1230. I guess that's technically Sunday, but it's during the Saturday Toonami block on Adult Swim. Link to comment
Lantern7 April 21, 2017 Share April 21, 2017 In case you haven't heard, the second season of Attack on Titan starts airing at 12:30 a.m. on Toonami. Since there wasn't much activity on the individual episode threads, I'm setting up an all-purpose thread for talk on the show. What happened at the end of last season? All I remember is that there was a Titan in the damn wall. Metaphorical or actual? Link to comment
ZoqFotPik April 21, 2017 Author Share April 21, 2017 (edited) Annie Leonhart was revealed to be the Female Titan and in an attempt to capture her Erwin Smith and the Survey Corps lay a trap inside Wall Sina. Annie sees through their plan and changes into Titan form. Erin also changes and fights her. Though he successfully defeats her, their fight causes much collateral damage and Annie encases herself in crystal preventing any kind of interrogation. The fight also damages part of Wall Sina, revealing an actual dormant Titan behind the wall. Edited April 21, 2017 by ZoqFotPik Link to comment
Lantern7 April 21, 2017 Share April 21, 2017 Good, good. All I need is a GIF of Female Titan swinging some poor schmuck like a watch on the end of a chain. For those that can't wait, here are the opening credits from Funimation's YouTube page. I know, not as epic as the original. Link to comment
Lantern7 April 23, 2017 Share April 23, 2017 What can top a Titan in the wall? Motherfucking talking fur-covered abnormal Titan! I mean, humanity is fucked as per usual, but talking Titan!!! Holy shit!! Link to comment
Sandman87 April 23, 2017 Share April 23, 2017 It's been long enough since the last season that I only vaguely remember who a lot of these characters are. Anyway, it's nice to see all the creepy giants eating people again. Wait, that sounds wrong,.. This batch of Titans seemed a lot more grotesque than the ones that came before. That includes the talking furry guy. 1 Link to comment
ZoqFotPik April 24, 2017 Author Share April 24, 2017 Good start to the season. The opening theme is okay. It might grow on me like the second one. The Titans running always makes me laugh. Link to comment
lathspel April 24, 2017 Share April 24, 2017 That was pretty amazing. Talking furry titan seemed a bit disappointed he couldn't have more of a dialogue. I had forgotten the "which cadets are titans?" plot. I think they led us to believe it was the blond male one who was going to help the other escape? Link to comment
ZoqFotPik April 24, 2017 Author Share April 24, 2017 The identities of the Armoured and Colossal Titans haven't been revealed yet, but (slight spoilers) Spoiler If you rewatch season one knowing that Annie is the Female Titan, it's in my opinion pretty obvious who they are. Link to comment
lathspel May 1, 2017 Share May 1, 2017 (edited) Oh good, Sasha was one of the cadets I'd hoped we'd get more backstory on. With her constant hunger, are we intended to suppose she's a potential Titan? Spindly-legged Titan at the end - was it transformed from a human in that spot? Or are Titan transformations somehow communicable? I'm really enjoying how this show has so many things to potentially explain, and it's really stingy about telling you. Sandman87 May 1, 2017 Share May 1, 2017 Whoever left that axe laying around forgot to sharpen it. Sasha should have been able to kill that Titan with it. And BTW, it seemed awfully small to be called "Titan." More like a "Tall-ish" or a "Bigger Than Average." Those smaller Titans are a lot worse than the large ones. The big ones kill their food almost instantly, but the little ones tend to do a lot of chewing to get the job done. Sasha fought a Titan hand-to-hand and lived! I kind of wonder whether it'll ever think of pulling the arrows out of its eyes, of if it's just going to walk around with arrow-vision. 54 minutes ago, lathspel said: Spindly-legged Titan at the end - was it transformed from a human in that spot? ZoqFotPik May 1, 2017 Author Share May 1, 2017 Quote Oh good, Sasha was one of the cadets I'd hoped we'd get more backstory on. With her constant hunger, are we intended to suppose she's a potential Titan? Yeah it's good to get backstory on more than the big three. I think Sasha was raised at slightly above subsistence level hunting, so she eats as much as she can whenever she can because she knows there might not be any tomorrow. Speaking of Sasha, having played "Life is Strange", I could really hear 'Chloe' coming out in her voice when she was yelling at her Dad. Quote And BTW, it seemed awfully small to be called "Titan." More like a "Tall-ish" or a "Bigger Than Average." They've shown smaller Titans before. In the Trost arc, Mikasa or Annie was able to jump high enough to kill one that made into the military headquarters. Quote The big ones kill their food almost instantly, I don't know about that we've seen them swallow people whole. Erin encountered someone still alive in a Titan's stomach and he was obviously still alive too. Link to comment
Miles May 4, 2017 Share May 4, 2017 So when will these dumbasses figure out that the village inhabitants were turned into Titans? They have all the information we have, know that the wall wasn't breached, that some humans can turn into Titans, and that the one Titan reminded the guy of his mother. Stupid characters annoy me... Link to comment
Lantern7 May 4, 2017 Share May 4, 2017 Caught the episode. Did not think that anybody would be turning into Titans in Connie's village, so I must be dumb. Or maybe I don't car that hard about this series. I mean, it's good and not all misery porn like The Walking Dead, but I only can retain a few names. I'll have to start a book thread. There was an anthology from American creators last year with humorous bits. One of them had the cadets ordered to bite down on their hands to show they're not undercover Titans, and Sasha wanted to know if she could swallow. Apparently, she's a "live off the land" girl whom others may think is inbred and/or stupid. Link to comment

That why she is so polite and what Ymir was confronting her about. She was masking her accent. Apparently this was one of those things that didn't translate well. In Japanese, in the scenes with her father Sasha had a heavy country accent. You can kind of hear it a little with her dropping Gs, but supposedly it was much more apparent in Japanese. Miles May 7, 2017 Share May 7, 2017 (edited) In the subbed version of the past few episodes it was pretty clear. They subbed her with a pretty thick yokel accent. The newest episode was interesting. Who would have thought that there were so many titans among their ranks. Eren still isn't the sharpest tool in the shed. He should have agreed to go with them. It didn't seem like they ment him any harm and he could have gathered a lot of information. Btw. I'm disappointed that this season we don't have a gerpanese opening. As a native german speaker, it was always fun trying to decipher what these "german" lyrics written by japanese people with google translate were actually trying to say. Sandman87 May 8, 2017 Share May 8, 2017 "Did you find a hole?" "No, did you?" "No" (together) "Oh, shit!" And of course everything depends on Eren with no margin for error...again! Link to comment
Lantern7 May 8, 2017 Share May 8, 2017 I don't know anything about accents from Japan and what qualifies as "hick" over there. I have faint memories of Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi, but that's it. ETA: Do higher-ranked folks carry around potatoes to give to Sasha for a good job? And it's about time we got to go to the lab of Eren's dad. I suggested we'd see baby Titans in jars, and I stand by that. 1 Link to comment
lathspel May 8, 2017 Share May 8, 2017 Yeah, the "no hole in the wall" moment was intense. Although I was wondering why Pompadour Guy was so nervous - wouldn't Titans be least active in a dark night? He didn't know then that they could be awake at moonrise. Mikasa cares so much about that guy because he's her brother (adopted?). That line seemed strange. Link to comment

The Tohoku (northern Japan) regional accent is the go-to accent for anime's version of a hillbilly. It usually involves keeping the mouth closed as much as possible while talking, slurring a bit, and drawn out-vowels. It actually sounds a bit hillbilly-ish before it's translated. Link to comment
Lantern7 May 14, 2017 Share May 14, 2017 Well. The lady with the name from Norse mythology turned out to be an undercover Titan. Who would have guessed? Damn, the hopelessness is laid on thicker than usual. I don't drink, but if I'm facing a painful death, I would want to be totally obliterated. Do you think mushrooms are a thing in that world? "Oh, damn. The Titan just turned into colors. Must be an abnormal. Wow, now the colors bit my hand off." 1 Link to comment
Sandman87 May 15, 2017 Share May 15, 2017 Picking up a Titan and then knocking it out the window? Pretty badass, even if it was a small Titan. Must have been the adrenaline. The Bigfoot Titan hurling horses instantly took me back to Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Unfortunately, "run away!" was not an option here. Link to comment
Lantern7 May 24, 2017 Share May 24, 2017 Man, Ymir got hosed. Her Titan form is runty, and she lost an arm and a leg afterward. I will say that she was an awesome fighter . . . like Laura in Logan. Link to comment
Lantern7 May 30, 2017 Share May 30, 2017 FYI: I relabeled this thread for the Toonami run on the show. If you have information beyond that, please use the spoiler function. Thank you. Link to comment
Lantern7 June 4, 2017 Share June 4, 2017 "Eren? You know how we've been together on and off for the past few years? Well, I'm the Armored Titan, and my friend is the Colossal. Wanna come with us to our village?" How does that rate as the biggest anticlimax in anime history? Suddenly, the number of Undercover Titans doubles. The episode was tense as hell, and the ensuing fight is going to be nuts, but way to expose the secret. ETA: This is from the Toonami Tumblr. What I love is how Eren's Titan sprouts hair during the transformation. Also, I forgot to factor in Annie in the Undercover Titan count. There are five, not four. Link to comment
Sandman87 June 5, 2017 Share June 5, 2017 If this keeps up we're going to start running out of non-Titan characters. Did I hear that correctly? There's some sort of vague organization dedicated to wiping out mankind, and they're involved with the Titans? Link to comment

There was no indication at that point that this thread is at toonami pace. Spoiler 2x10: Spoiler It's really interesting that in Ymir's village being turned into a titan seems to be a punishment. Being forced to roam the land forever, not in control of your impulses, that must be horrible. I'm really psyched to learn more about who made the titans and why and how. I guess Ymir got the ability to transform back into a human because she ate a human who could transform into a titan and back at will. Interesting that it can be transfared that way. But that also means we now know for sure that titans can be cured. Maybe with the same stuff Eren was injected with. Man they really need to get to Eren's basement immediatly. I watched one episode with english dub now and there the opening is subed. The title of the opening is "Opfert eure Herzen" (sacrifice your hearts) but the chorus in the opening is translated to "offer your hearts". Wondering where the translation error lies. The japanese giving their opening a german name or the english translation from japanese. In this case, I'd guess the later, since "sacrifice your hearts" seems more in tune with Attack on Titan. :D Edited June 6, 2017 by Miles Link to comment
Lantern7 June 11, 2017 Share June 11, 2017 When I watch this episode again, I'll have to turn on closed captioning. I think every fifth word from Eren was a curse. Facing somebody that basically betrayed humanity will do that. Luckily, Annie taught Eren the basis for Titan Fu back in basic training, so he manages to crack the Armored Titan. Also, he gives Hage a look, and I think she got moist over it. Once again, I'll have to rewatch. Link to comment

Lantern7 June 18, 2017 Share June 18, 2017 How about this: every 6-8 episodes? The Adventures Of Mikasa: Bully Beater. So awesome to see her bail Eren out of a massive disadvantage, while the actual troops get shit-faced and enjoy the show. While I'm thinking about it, I should get this monogrammed somewhere: "If The Shoe Fits . . . SHOVE IT UP YOUR ASS!!!!!" Damn, looks like Eren is unarmed. I'm also kindasorta hoping he lives and sees an uncensored history book. If this is the future and mankind has regressed, I would think that Reiner and Bertolt wouldn't be in the top five worst villains in the history of humanity. Top ten? Maybe. 34 minutes ago, Sandman87 said: You know the Army rations are bad when it takes a 5 minute pep talk before you'll eat them.
