Just Here January 28, 2017 Share January 28, 2017 (edited) Portrayed by Camila Mendes, who attended NYU's Tisch School of Arts, just like another actress who played a Veronica on The CW. I thought Veronica had the majority of best lines in the premiere episode, plus she seemed to have the most agency/initiative, especially compared to Betty (who needs to overcome her introvert issues and her parental issues) and Archie (who suffers from designated hero syndrome). I'm really liking her recovering "spoiled rich bitch ice princess" (the character's words in the premiere episode) characterization. Her transformation is far from complete -- and she knows it (which I thought was one of the purposes for the scene where she comes home after the dance/party and lays down on the sofa with her mother). So, I see the kissing Archie in the closet as a lapse: She is used to getting whatever and whomever she wants, and not caring about the consequences, and sometimes that "bad" side cannot be completely suppressed. Plus, she is only fifteen or such, so hormones. Edited January 28, 2017 by Just Here fixed title punctuation Link to comment
CletusMusashi February 11, 2017 Share February 11, 2017 (edited) No way in hell is she fifteen. Not for what I'VE got planned with her this weekend! Mwahahahahahaha! Edited February 12, 2017 by CletusMusashi Link to comment
methodwriter85 March 8, 2017 Share March 8, 2017 I wonder when Veronica will admit that she saw her father having an affair, leading to her slut spiral at the age of 12 and subsequent attempts at redemption? Link to comment

SeanC May 15, 2017 Share May 15, 2017 Looking back over Veronica's character in the first season, she's in a somewhat anomalous position compared to the other three teen leads. Unlike with Archie, who it took them a while to really get a bead on, I think Veronica was pretty much perfect right off the bat (and Camila was always a standout). However, unlike Betty and Jughead, it took her a while to really become invested in the main plot (as she once commented herself, "I don't know these people."). That largely happened as a result of the slow-build relating to her father's return over the course of the season, as well as her increasing fears that he was even worse than she knew he was. The setup for her character in Season 2 looks promising, as well. 2 Link to comment

PrePreBabylonia March 23, 2019 Share March 23, 2019 Although I feel that Veronica as a character is all over the map, I am very impressed by her singing. I am always blown away by her voice, no matter what the song. Most people praise Ashleigh (Josie) but I find her voice is competent, not exciting in the way that Camila Mendes is, and I am hoping they continue to feature it in most episodes. 1 Link to comment
Aryanna October 1, 2020 Share October 1, 2020 Is there an explanation in a later season for why the Lodge family are Latin Americans but have an English name? I'm only on season 2. I know I'm a late comer to this show...too much stuff to watch and just now getting around to this. It just seems curious to me. The family sprinkles Spanish terms into their conversation and it appears to be a conscious choice to cast Latinx actors in the roles. Why choose that for characters with such an obvious English name? I find it odd. Link to comment
Snookums October 1, 2020 Share October 1, 2020 At one point I think Hiram did mention changing his name because his dad was a jerk? And Veronica used that name to apply to college? It was one of those "now you see the plot point/now you don't" things the show specializes in. Link to comment
Cranberry October 2, 2020 Share October 2, 2020 Yep, Hiram Lodge was born Jaime Luna and changed his surname because of the stigma associated with it. In season four, Veronica changed her name to Veronica Luna for a while to spite him. Link to comment
Aryanna October 26, 2020 Share October 26, 2020 Veronica is such a wishy washy character. She's the worst. Season 1 - I'm mad at my parents because they're criminals and they hurt people. Season 2 - I want to be a part of the criminal family business Season 3 - I'm mad at my parents again for some reason because they're still criminals. Oh no! Daddy's been shot. I better run his criminal business. Daddy's well again...I need to take him down. Oh surprise, daddy retaliated. For Veronica to be so "smart", she is one of the dumbest characters who doesn't think more than five minutes ahead. Link to comment
