Lead actress was interesting....

I kept wondering if the actress has dyskinesia (facial tick) or if she decided to give her character that trait.

OK.  I've decided how I'm going to look at this show.  I'm going to ignore it as a vehicle for Dr. Phil's ego.  I'm going to ignore the fact that it tromps all over legalities and the law.  I'm going to ignore the fact that most of their manipulations and machinations would clearly result in a mistrial in the real world.  I'm going to ignore the fact that to really run a jury consultation company like that with all those specialists and that tech and mirror juries and research etc. it would take waaaaaaay more money than most of these people could make in a lifetime.  I'm also going to ignore how Bull always finds the "real" bad guy in the end.

You know what this show is?

A high-brow, citified remake of The A-Team.  That's what it is.

A team of quirky specialists, with one very clever, handsome, and irascible charismatic leader who swoop in and save the day with amusing misdirection and manipulations.  Once I had that epiphany last night, I really, really enjoyed the show.  Try it.

I loved The A-Team.

If only it were that simple. Yes, most first year shows suck, but there are some that have merit and deserve a chance, but they won't because of "can't-miss-shows" like this one. (Can't-miss-shows = a show that is tailor-made for a perceived can't miss star like Weatherly.)(And to add insult to injury, this show has already been given a green light for a second season.)(I think.)

So it's okay to toss electronic waste into a waterway?  Hmmm?

The writers better watch out.  Tech advances may mean that they will be replaced by robots who compile plots and characters according to complicated algorithms that maximize repetitive, easy to understand episodes with a minimum of twists and turns, that fit into a 47 minute window.  Wait a minute...

I was a bit confused on how this episode unfolded.  Earlier in the show, Bull asked her why she didn't settle.  Something to the effect of, "Money isn't the issue, she wants to kill EJ.."   So she feels she has no choice but to go to trial.

Trial ends.  She wins.  Her company isn't liable.  And...she kills EJ anyway.   Wut?

I mean, I get it that part of it was Bull wanting her to let go of her past and move forward.  But to entirely scrap her automated car concept (even if it meant dumping the "EJ" AI persona), just seemed way extreme to me.  <shrug>

That's pretty much where I ended up after about the first episode. Show is ridiculous but yet I enjoy it anyway by ignoring all that. Although I never watched the A-Team.

I'm trying to do the same.  It was hard this last episode when they were on the roof with the car and the jury, and Bull was talking about what he was doing to manipulate them, with them standing right there.

She had to kill EJ because the CEO said he'd been programmed to kill the driver in certain scenarios. People weren't going to trust it after that. But man, that broke my heart. Hated that ending.
