EtheltoTillie December 2, 2016 Share December 2, 2016 (edited) This appears to be a new season that has a new format called transformed. They are following the contestants for three years! This was much better than the old format where you didn't know how then people fared long term. So they must have started with these subjects long ago. I wonder if they originally planned for this format. Christine started out in horrible shape with an enabling husband but she persevered and got down to a really normal weight and had skin surgery. She dumped the husband but she never pursued her earlier goal of going to school. They still leave a ?or of questions unanswered. Edited December 24, 2016 by AmandaPanda Link to comment
auntjess December 2, 2016 Share December 2, 2016 So how much of this was new? I thought that the last half hour, with her second skin surgery was. Someone on the Facebook page on the show thought it was all old. Link to comment
greekmom December 2, 2016 Share December 2, 2016 I just couldn't get over Dr. Now. He's gotten a bigger himself and the fake tan isn't doing much for him. Link to comment
notyrmomma December 2, 2016 Share December 2, 2016 I fell asleep after about 30 minutes and didn't see the ending. At least the first 30 minutes was all old stuff. Link to comment
Armchair Critic December 2, 2016 Share December 2, 2016 I thought this was an old episode? Link to comment
EtheltoTillie December 2, 2016 Author Share December 2, 2016 So this was an old episode with new updates? I couldn't find her listed in previous seasons. I didn't remember seeing her before. Link to comment
operalover December 3, 2016 Share December 3, 2016 Yes an old episode, I think we saw her also in a Where are We now episode that was folling someone else but she was at the support group. Her mother was the worst enabler ever featured on this show. Sneaking fast food into the hospital "so my baby won't starve to death" lol some screwed up thinking going on there. It's a miracle she succeeded as the mom and her husband did everything they could to keep her obese. 1 Link to comment
IvySpice December 5, 2016 Share December 5, 2016 Thank goodness for DVRs. I really wanted to see the new material, and really did not want to sit through 2.5 hours of reruns. What a poor excuse for a new episode. Christina looked amazing. Good for her for having so much insight into her problems. She seems to realize she has her whole adult life ahead of her to enjoy non-abusive relationships and experience the world. (Or even just Mississippi.) Link to comment
AmandaPanda December 24, 2016 Share December 24, 2016 This wasn't the first episode in season 5. It appears to be an old episode with new footage. I found the correct episode number and updated the title. Since season 5 is starting soon, I didn't want it to get confusing. 1 Link to comment

It's a miracle she succeeded as the mom and her husband did everything they could to keep her obese. Her mother was indeed terrible, but Christina was a master manipulator, too. I'm confident the mom thought Christina would starve because Christina said those very words. Christina was petulant and bratty, at least at the outset, and her family bowed to her demands. "No! I want fries!" or words to that effect. arghhh. I'm glad she turned things around, but she had me rooting against her in the beginning. You're supposed to lose 30 (50?) pounds in a month, and you keep eating fast food? And then you are hospitalized to control your intake and you make people bring you just what you're not supposed to eat? Come on, nobody is that clueless. "The food is nasty." So many comments burbling around in my head. Having been overweight a significant portion of my life, I usually empathize with these folks, but I was shouting at the TV during this one.
