when you are in a video store looking through sales some cheap and good film and you find psyco beach party by coincidence and  inexplicably you buy it

I had to do a google/imdb search to find out why anyone would care about Psycho Beach Party in the first place, but once I uncovered the completely valid reason......I hope you didn't spend too much money buying it, it's readily available on youtube.....  I just wish I could find 'Excision', 'Learning Curve' and 'Beautiful Girl' as readily. :(

oooh thank you! just two questions before I watch this. 1. How graphic is it? I don't do graphic blood and guts well (one of the reasons I wouldn't watch CM when it was first out because people said it was really graphic....and I find it just acceptably graphic for my issues) and 2. does Matthew's character get killed? because if he gets killed then I don't wanna see it :-\

thank you

thank you for your concern! :D
it was really cheap, 2 dollars more or less. Although, I have to say, it was too much for that film hehe

my best wishes for that, I'm going to look for them and if I'm lucky I'll let you know. Sadly, shorts aren't easy to find.

I've been looking everywhere for Raising Waylon, but there is no way to get that one either.

1. Very graphic!!!!!!!! I will repeat, very graphic!!!! Even though its a not-traditional form of horror, I would not recommend watching it if Criminal Mind is acceptably graphic.

2. MGG Is in only two scenes and is there for comedy, his scenes are not scary at all. He does not get killed. One is at the start ish and one is in the middle ish. If I could watch it right now, I would tell you what times he appears, but I don't have time right now. I watched it on YouTube. Maybesomeone can watch it at there and look at the times he appears.

oh thank you so much for the warning. Definitely (also given the film's synopsis) not the kind of thing I could watch....maybe someone will upload just his scenes to youtube someday then :) I literally would lose my s#!t if it was *that* graphic. I'm not kidding. I'm the one person around who does not begrudge Garcia going 'ick!' etc when she's presenting a case to them. I totally am right with her on that.

I love the very first Star Wars movie-Luke, Leia, Tattooine, Death Star etc. And I've seen it probably a thousand times.....and I STILL have to look away when old Ben Kenobi slices off the alien's arm with the lightsabre. I just can't do blood and guts and dismembering. I can't even carve a turkey, for heaven's sakes!

I started watching it once, RF, and I had to stop.  It was just Too Much.  I read reviews of the film in which there was a lot of praise, and I could understand that, but it most definitely was not my cup of tea.   Somehow found out the times of MGG's scenes and FF'd to those.

Ironically, his talent is really highlighted in those scenes.  He doesn't even look like himself, and he does his bit perfectly.

so, thanks to an Internet friend, I have just come from two hours spent downloading, watching and screencapping Beautiful Girl.

what a stupid movie. I mean awful. Terrible script, terrible execution and absolutely craptacular ending. Nothing like interweaving four people's stories in and around eachother......and then not giving the viewer closure on any of it. *argh*

the only good thing about this movie was Matthew. And my screencaptures. *eye roll* I want my hour and a half back :-P

edited to add: and I can't tell you how disconcerting it was to hear squeaky clean Reid saying things like 'some man's balls', 'money shot', p**** and c**,  and 'close up of his hairy ass' and the f word. Oh my. Spencer saying the F word... egads!

hahahaha I can relate to that. I know a girl who has watched some awful films to enjoy a few scenes of her favourite actors, just like us. And it's funny because when we talk about those films, she usually quotes Blade runner:

"I've seen things you wouldn't believe..."

Yeah, I wondered why MGG chose that one.  He was very good in it, and I liked his storyline.  I think he has good judgment and taste, so I wondered what it was that appealed to him about it.  Maybe a lot ended up on the cutting room floor.  Wonder if he was embarrassed about it later?  I know he promoted it not at all when it finally came out.

Makes me wonder about Hot Air.  It looked like it is going to be a pretty good film.  I'd like to know what made him choose to do it, and why it has taken so long for it to be released.

Also, I thought he was spending May filming in Nebraska -- haven't heard a peep about it and last I heard he was in NY.  Not only that but he was sporting a nicely trimmed beard in a pic I saw.  And a Metallica T-shirt (oh, my heart.)

the filming in Bennington Nebraska was slated for mid-end of May.... perhaps it's only just starting now?

and he had every reason to be embarrassed about Beautiful Girl. (original title Porn Star, The Movie) Although I see a little bit of a parallel between his own life and 'Ziggy's' in that they both want to direct legitimate film (as opposed to porn) ; both he and his character were schooled for directing; both he and his character have a screen play in development. The biggest difference (other than the obvious real vs reel life) is that Matthew could easily afford to finance the sort of movie he's looking to direct at this point.

and beard? ick. blech. I like his face clean shaven. And wearing his glasses.

well I do have to concede your points Droog..... you are right. when you're right, you're right. I too, will take him any which way. Beard or not. Glasses or not. Clothing or not. whoops.

I guess I should say obsessed with TG hahaha

anyway, I'm editing Chicago hope episodes because I only want TG scenes and I've started to remember the time ER and this show aired for first time, I didn't give CH more than ten minutes of my life, now I can say I'm soooo glad, they let Mandy P. sing, he sings a lot, he sings like he's a singer instead of a doctor, performing like he is on Broadway... it hurts my ears and eyes and it makes me so mad I needed to put it out in the universe.

:-( um.... sorry.....get well soon?  but isn't that what the majority wanted - to leave?

Many people voted because of outright lies from the Leave campaign and over a million now say they would change their minds in a second referendum now the truth about all the lies is coming out. The result was quite close. But already we can see the damage it is doing to the UK and there is a big movement to try and stop it going through. The country is totally divided and both main political parties are in disarray. Also it has now sparked a torrent of racial abuse.

I've known this for weeks, the PVR is already picking it up, yet this morning in a five hour shift, THREE people said some form of "HEY! Did you know that Barrie's running Criminal Minds every night before the news?"..... AND..... (bearing in mind that I'm the only person in an office of 14, and a till line staff of about fifty that even has a twitter account) 'Did you see that the guy you like from Criminal Minds is in Japan right now?'  (nooooooooo, like I had NO idea)... Sugar mint cookies? Hey, that's my recipe!

You know you're a fan when you're glad you haven't made 4th of July plans due to a lack of funds, all the craziness you want to steer clear of (especially along the lakefront) and because you have a ton of stuff you have to do around the house (and have been neglecting) because ION is having a season 10 "Amerithon" and season 10 was a bit regrettable.

I don't have ION. And I'm Canadian (our holiday was on July 1, Friday) so July 4th isn't as 'special' to me, but I'm with you guys on the CM marathon..... I'll pick my own though: LDSK, SexBirthDeath, Big Game & Revelations, Elephant's Memory, Memoriam. Amplification, Angels & Demons, Nelson's Sparrow, Mr Scratch, Entropy, Devil's Backbone and The Storm. And then Entropy again.

and no, not sugar mint. chocolate chip. Son likes my chocolate chip or chocolate shortbread cookies. I don't mind mint, but not in cookies and not with chocolate.

You know you're obsessed with Criminal Minds when you are watching "Public Enemy" and you realize the reason why you are a recovering Catholic turned Unitarian Universalist is because Dave Rossi didn't send you a $500.00 check when you had your own first communion. And seriously, why aren't these little girls going through the blessed sacrament of their first communion with their heads uncovered? What a bunch of CCD strumpets!

Bookish Jen walks away in a bitter and offended huff.

Link to comment

This 'doesn't-feel- a-need-to-'recover' Catholic is officially offended.  If we're keeping politics out of it, can we do the same for religion, please?

Religion aside, I remember that scene, why did they send her money? why this girl and no any other child?

these things make me realise I hate JJ's character since she become a mother for all the reasons you already know :(

  • Love 1

The gift of money on the confirmation is tradition. Nothing more. Since Rossi is a practicing Roman Catholic and so were these victims, it is to be assumed he suggested it. I agree with JMO, we shouldn't be too vehement here regarding our opinions on politics, religion, race, things that are potentially so divisive, but that may mean the world to some of us. This is about a TV show, not about solving the *many* problems of this world. We all have the right to our feelings on those subjects, but they may just not belong in a discussion about fictional characters. Hope I don't upset anyone.

Sadly it has suddenly dawned out me that we might have need of a thread entitled "You know you are no longer obsessed with Criminal Minds when..... Now don't get me wrong it is still by far my favorite of all the shows on TV. However that is mainly because of Reid. The truth is this show went from being the only show on television that was must-see-tv for me to one that I am more or less semi watching these days.

When your son is watching one of the  Batman movies on TV, and suddenly he turns around and says "hey mum, this guy here is JJ's husband in CM" .

When this son is looking for something he recorded, and suddenly says "mum, I think your recorded something by mistake, what is Alvin and the chipmunks doing here?""

And of course you have to say it wasn't a mistake at all!!

LOL! the children's channel here actually ran those back to back to back in  a marathon a couple of weeks ago so I recorded them, but I also actually had them on as I went about my day. My son walked in the room and asked me why the *#@$^ I was watching $*(#$ Alvin and the *#@$^ing Chipmunks. I said 'listen carefully. Do you recognise that sped-up voice?' He listened for a minte. Looked at me. And said "Oh my @*$^^%ing God, that's Matthew Gray Gubler!........why!"

I LOL'd. :)

How are you spending your Labour Day?

well, despite the fact that it's a holiday for organised labour, both my husband and my son are working today. (irony?)

What am I gonna do with myself?

Oh! binge watch! season one, in order....already up to episode 8 (and 1-7 not a loser in the bunch, they were all good.)

I'm rewatching season 1 too! I love it, there are only 4 episodes I like less than the rest, but even those have amazing scenes on them.

Mr Scratch at midnight??!! I wouln't be able to watch it , too scary . I mean, I have watched it several times, but not when it's dark outside!!

couldn't wait until midnight to watch Mr Scratch...too scary. I watched it with the director's commentary. At one point, Matthew's talking about how pompous he thinks he sounds talking about 'his' episode, like he's sitting there wearing a crown and sipping a coffee....

so......

I don't think I am almost done with the show, and I also keep finding out as much information as I can.

I had to check which episode of Big Bang (I'm also a fan of this one)  you were talking about and I understand perfectly what you are saying, I feel something similar.

Another thing, today I turn on the TV, and I get to see the end of "Hanley Waters" . The scene at the burger restaurant (soooo good) and the final scene with Hotch and Morgan. (Really good too, but it made me sad to watch it, never happening again).

I adore that episode!! I think it's the best episode in the whole season. Hotch and the actress playing the unsub are amazing. Even I would say it's the best episode from season 6 to 9.

About TBBT episode, that's funny because I like fanfiction, but I can't help feeling like Sheldon after they mishandled Alphas. When you witness a character you have loved for so many years finished in an unpleasant way, those memories are sticky.

YKYOWCMW...  you keep trying to figure out which episode to submit for The Canon.  The hard part is picking just one.  One of the best, but also encapsulates all that the show is about, and also makes sense to someone that doesn't watch.  But then also worry, the show may not be Canon-worthy, since it's quality does vary greatly from season 6-ish on (imo).

100 does it nicely, I've found. There's a recap at the beginning for the Foyet arc, to catch up anyone maybe unfamiliar. The writing, so suspenseful, the will-he-won't-he kill Haley, the fight with Hotch, etc... Foyet is one of the few UnSubs that I actually cared about (hated, but still laughed at and at the same time, felt menaced by) and thought was perfectly cast.

Every person I've shown this episode to as an entry, is still a fan.

I also think The Fisher King eps, taken together (even though 2 is far superior), are an excellent intro.
