MMLEsq April 25, 2014 Share April 25, 2014 Hmmm....there are a fair number of comments on tonight's Parks and Recreation episode, but none here. The few things that I liked from the episode.... What's wrong with her vs. What ails her? Raj freaking out at the hair on the "House of 1000 Corpses" (that was the name, wasn't it?) DVD. Leonard's quiet "I also love you" when Penny asks him if she's been complaining about the movie too much. Amy and Leonard's conversation where Amy shared that she's sometimes jealous that Penny and Sheldon are close. Link to comment
photo fox April 25, 2014 Share April 25, 2014 I love how Wolowitz was completely unconcerned that Bernie lied to him. Somehow Howard became the most confident man on the show. Amy (to Leonard): "No, this is weird right now." lol Link to comment
Tukahar April 25, 2014 Share April 25, 2014 (edited) When they came out with the Amy lying to Sheldon arc, I was so afraid they would bring up the spanking thing again. That god they didn't...that made me really uncomfortable last time. Edited April 25, 2014 by Tukahar Link to comment
Isazouzi April 25, 2014 Share April 25, 2014 Since I've stopped having any kind of expectations for this show, I enjoy it a lot more. I always find something funny in every episode and this one was no exception. What made me laugh the most was Leonard's "He'd probably give you homework" when Amy was thinking of wearing a Catholic school girl outfit for Sheldon, and Raj's "I'm gonna say it's not OK" when the killer in the movie cuts off the face of the dad and wears it as a mask to make out with the daughter. And ewwwwwww. Just the description of that movie made me want to puke! I'm with Raj, I can't watch that stuff and I'm wary of anyone who enjoys it. Link to comment
Isazouzi April 25, 2014 Share April 25, 2014 I hear you, but I've already lowered my personal bar for this showh, any more and I might as well watch Two And A Half Men or scripted reality Shows or daytime talk shows. (Er, not that there's anything wrong with that...) I know what you mean. It's just that one day I stopped caring about continuity and stuff. I didn't decide it, it just happened and the show became funny again to me. It's weird, cause it doesn't work like that with every show. Like HIMYM for instance. It made me so angry I had to stop watching. 2 Link to comment
Dots And Stripes April 25, 2014 Share April 25, 2014 Lower my expectations might be a good idea. Compared to TBBT reruns, last night was a dud. Maybe it would be better if I compared it to other sitcoms. My favorite part of the episode was the beginning with just Sheldon, Leonard, and Penny although something seemed a bit off with Sheldon. I couldn't care less about his search for a new area of research. Maybe I'm just over Jim Parsons. My least favorite story line is the ongoing progression of the Sheldon/Amy relationship. I was watching the episode earlier this week where Amy and Sheldon 'break-up' and Sheldon gets all of those cats. That Amy was so much more abrasive and Sheldon-like, not to mention funnier. I would be much happier if their relationship remained something totally unique rather than seeing Amy drag him into a more traditional romance. 1 Link to comment
shapeshifter April 25, 2014 Share April 25, 2014 Yes, lowered expectations. I was pleasantly surprised that Bernadette and Amy being busy was more than just an excuse for why they would be off camera for the next 20 minutes of hijinks. So clever of the writers. </lowered expectations> Link to comment
CleoCaesar April 26, 2014 Share April 26, 2014 I liked the episode. But the Raj subplot was weird - yes it does say something about a person who loves to watch disgusting gore. It says other (similarly unsettling) things if the person gets turned on by people cutting off faces and wearing them. But just because Raj is a horndog, he's willing to overlook that? Uh, okay. That plot seemed to go nowhere. 1 Link to comment
DrSpaceman April 26, 2014 Share April 26, 2014 The episode had some good lines but didn't seem to go anywhere overall. Link to comment
Isazouzi April 26, 2014 Share April 26, 2014 (edited) I came across this paragraph in the book I'm reading (The Bones, by Seth Greenland) and I immediately thought of the Big Bang Theory (and other worse shows, like Two and a half-man) Comedy writers are a notoriously vitriolic bunch of dyspeptic malcontents who often build lucrative careers channeling noxious emotions into the socially acceptable outlet of sitcoms. The goofy-seeming fellow in the casual clothes who writes all those funny things the cute black kid says in the hit show is more often than not consumed with a rage that, in another context, would lead to flying fists, broken glass, and the burning of Atlanta. Indy April 29, 2014 Share April 29, 2014 My favorite part of the episode was Sheldon's "This is how 'Anything Can Happen Thursday' turns into 'It Won't Stop Coming Out Friday'" line. 2 Link to comment
John Potts June 19, 2014 Share June 19, 2014 Definitely not the best episode, but what bugged me was the way Penny complained about Leonard. The guy had listened uncomplaining as you jibber jabbered on about some crappy movie and you get upset when he admits (after being directly asked!) your talk bores him? She's normally pretty laid back about that sort of thing (in fact, given she admits to using sex to get out of almost any situation, you'd think she'd realise it cuts both ways). Loved Leonard's comment that Sheldon was more likely to give "Schoolgirl Amy" homework! Link to comment
