WendyCR72 May 20, 2018 Share May 20, 2018 On a completely different angle, one thing I never got with Logan's re-introduction to the franchise was Deakins calling Van Buren. Don't get me wrong, I liked the nod to the past. But wouldn't Logan's superior(s) in Staten Island have merited a call in terms of his recent behavioral history? I know. Nitpick. Back to "Prisoner", though, I like the sort of "gotcha!" kind of narrative used with Corbin Bernsen's character, first shown as a devoted, grieving hubby, then BAM. The actress playing Jenny/Wendy, though. I SWEAR I have seen her before but can't place her. Hate when that happens. :-) Link to comment
Maherjunkie May 20, 2018 Share May 20, 2018 She was on the Good Wife. Since Dabney Coleman retired by the time he got there, maybe Van Buren was the more logical choice. Link to comment
GHScorpiosRule May 20, 2018 Author Share May 20, 2018 Or maybe Deakins called both. And the viewers saw him referencing Van Buren because Exile* NEVER HAPPENED!! * Yeah never gonna stop saying that. Link to comment

True about Dabney Coleman's character. Sort of surprised he popped up in Exiled*! I just never pictured Coleman playing a cop as I always saw him as even quirkier than VDO or Goldblum. But I guess if they could play a cop, so could he. LOL! Didn't know the actress playing Jenny/Wendy appeared on The Good Wife. I never watched that, so that isn't where I saw her before. But thanks for the info! *If it happened. (Ha!) A mass hallucination! As an aside, I looked up that song and never knew Foster penned "My Kentucky Home" (heard at every Derby) and "Oh, Susannah!", of all things, too. Musical education via cop show. There's something rare! :-) Link to comment
WendyCR72 May 20, 2018 Share May 20, 2018 By the way, not sure if everyone knows or not, but Dick Wolf has yet ANOTHER show coming this fall, FBI. I don't think it's a remake of the '60s show with the same name (but that was before my time). Funny thing is, it's on CBS instead of NBC. But Jeremy Sisto is back in the Wolf fold as he has a role on it. 1 Link to comment

That must have been where I saw her, but I had no idea it was the same actress! The voice inflections were so different for both characters! :-) (Not to mention the hair!) Link to comment
GHScorpiosRule January 9 Author Share January 9 So thrilled to have Noth back as Mike when this season premiered. While I didn't care for Barek that much, she was better than Wheeler. Blech. And we have the awesome double-team up in "In the Wee Small Hours" this season. 3 Link to comment
Shadow Lass January 11 Share January 11 "There they go, Oceans Two." And Colm Meaney as one of the scummiest villains ever, bragging about raping a fifteen-year-old. Not to mention a big hurrah to Tiana's mom for reading Faith Yancy the riot act. 5 Link to comment

Not to mention a big hurrah to Tiana's mom for reading Faith Yancy the riot act. That’s my personal favorite episode. It was so great to see Goren/Eames working with Logan/Barek and to have 2 hours to explore the case. Plus we got Carver in court and an Arthur Branch crossover appearance. And the scene where Goren gets scummy Judge Garrett to confess to rape is awesome, one of my favorite Goren scenes. 4 Link to comment
Xeliou66 February 17 Share February 17 The final 6 episodes of season 5 are on tonight on Charge I’ve said before, I love the cold open to Vacancy, extremely creepy and effective, one of the best cold opens in the entire series. The investigation into who the killer was was good as well with Goren/Eames tracking him down. However the ending just kind of fell flat, something about the motive just didn’t add up to me - The killer was disturbed and clearly had intense anger at his mom, but something just seemed off - I wasn’t sure that I bought that he would direct all of that rage at a complete stranger he barely interacted with. Something just didn’t really click for me. And I wondered if his confession at the end would even be admissible in court since he had had a lawyer in previous scenes. The Healer is an interesting episode, the discovery of the bodies wrapped up was creepy, and the case was weird but pretty good. It was an interesting scam the nurse was running and I liked how they figured out what she was doing - nice to see ME Rodgers get a large role. Cruise to Nowhere is on now - this is a great episode, really interesting case with some colorful characters. 1 Link to comment
Xeliou66 February 25 Share February 25 In The Wee Small Hours is starting now on Charge, my all time favorite CI episode. So much to love about this 2 parter - love seeing Goren/Eames work with Logan/Barek and Carver in court. 2 Link to comment
Xeliou66 February 25 Share February 25 It’s great to see Arthur Branch interact with Carver in this episode - I love when he tears up the original warrant and replaces it with one with his name on it - “it’s not enough to do good, you gotta be seen doing good” And Goren provoking “Hot Tub Harry” into confessing to rape is one of my favorite Goren scenes. 1 Link to comment
Xeliou66 May 25 Share May 25 Watch was on tonight - this is a strong episode - Duane and Art the killer cousins were memorable perps, I liked how Logan and Barek turned them against each other. Art’s father was a piece of shit bully - I hope he had to step down as a school principal after Art’s arrest - he didn’t belong around kids. Good investigation and I liked how Logan/Barek zeroed in on Duane and then Art, and I liked Logan’s knowledge of aeronautics. Proud Flesh was up next, and what a confusing jumbled mess this episode is. I’m still not exactly sure what happened and what didn’t, there were so many confusing things in the episode. I guess Jonas Slaughter paid the consultant to kill Trip because Trip was leaving the family business and he wanted to keep his other son Chance involved in the business and he was an egomaniac sociopath who couldn’t handle his sons leaving, but it was all so confusing with the way he hired people to cast suspicion on his wife, I wasn’t sure why he did that, and then his bizarre racist rant at the end came out of nowhere, why did he marry and have a kid with her if he was such a bigot? And it was ridiculously convenient that Chance had time to make a dying declaration after Eames shot him, wouldn’t it have been easier for him to just confess to the cops if his intent was to get his dad off the hook, instead of trying to shoot his stepmother? What if Eames’ shot had killed him instantly, then dear old dad would still be charged with murder? And what about the guy who actually did the murder, what would happen to him after Chance confessed? And why did he dress Trip up in latex? What a jumbled mess of an episode. 1 Link to comment

The case had to do with a Black rap artist, and Arthur Branch wondered if Ron Carver shouldn't take the second seat with McCoy. I didn't know Carver had been mentioned on the Mothership, so that was kinda cool. 1 1 Link to comment

I happened to see that episode as well last night, it was Three Dawg Night from season 12, and I remembered Carver being mentioned by name - it was actually Nora Lewin who was DA and who asked if Carver should second chair, she was DA at the time, it was the season before Arthur came on. It was nice continuity to have Carver mentioned on the Mothership. I wish McCoy and Carver had interacted at some point. 1 Link to comment
Xeliou66 August 28 Share August 28 Saw In The Wee Small Hours 2 parter last night - this is my favorite CI episode as I’ve said before - so much to love about this 2 parter - great to see both detective parings working together and a lot of great scenes - I loved Goren/Logan interrogating Ethan and getting under his skin, the return of Connie from Sound Bodies to be a jailhouse informant, and especially the scene where Goren provokes Garrett to confessing to rape was awesome. Seeing Carver in court was great and it really made me wish they had done more court scenes, Carver wasn’t used nearly enough as he could’ve been. It was nice seeing Arthur Branch cross over and interact with Carver, and when he replaced the original arrest warrant with one with his name on it was funny. It’s a near perfect episode from start to finish, very gripping and complex case - I’m not sure who was worse “Hot Tub Harry” or his wife, they were both scum, it’s no wonder Ethan was so messed up given they were his parents. 2 Link to comment

Such a damn shame that we only saw Carver at trial twice. He was great in court in both Good Doctor and Wee Small Hours. Wee Small Hours has so many awesome scenes and lines - from Goren/Logan working together and Eames “ocean’s two” one liner, to Carver in court and his scenes with Branch. It’s a near perfect episode. I was glad the whole Garrett family was going to jail in the end, they were scummy. I didn’t buy Ethan’s act at trial of seeming remorseful, he was a smug creep up until then, but it’s no wonder he was so screwed up with those parents. And Goren confronting Garrett after Hot Tub Harry sent his goon after Goren’s mom is arguably my favorite Goren scene ever. 2 Link to comment

Funnily enough, I'm watching ER right now and Courtney is playing the husband of Dr. Banfield (Angela Basset, who he's married to IRL) and the father of a little boy who dies. His emotional scenes are heartbreaking. What a great actor. Episode is called Heal Thyself, S 15, E 7. 1 Link to comment
Xeliou66 October 25 Share October 25 I saw Deakins final episode last night and it will always irritate me how poorly they did Deakins exit, they sent him out under a cloud and made him look like a quitter. I didn’t buy that Deakins would just roll over and give up his job because of Adair’s smears, he easily could’ve been exonerated. They really did a lousy job with his exit. I really wish they had just had him retire to spend more time with his family or something. And it pisses me off how Goren/Eames weren’t in the final scene with Deakins when he exited the squad room, that was pathetic, he had worked with Goren/Eames for years and didn’t get a strong goodbye scene with them. Both pairs of detectives should’ve been present in the squad room when Deakins left. I did like his warm goodbye with Carver (in what would be Carver’s final scene as well) and his giving Logan the new desk, and it was nice to see more of Deakins in his final couple of episodes - I liked seeing him get out in the field in the finale and get more scenes, but it was really disappointing how they sent him out under a cloud. Exits on the L&O franchise have always been such a mixed bag and Deakins exit was just not well done. 1 Link to comment
