An Old Christmas celebration brings the cast back to Pennsylvania. Meanwhile, Kate gets bad news about her internship; and dinner is interrupted by a confrontation between Jeremiah and Kate.

After seeing all of Kates scenes with her co-workers, I'm starting to wonder if someone isn't angling for a Cynthia Rowley spin-off show.

Is Mary going to use the same storyline EVERY season? "I've been banned. I'm shunned. Where do things stand with me and Chester?" Yawn.

I really enjoy the scenes with Sabrina and Kate. The makeover and dress were all so nice (but I wish the stylist would have dyed Sabrina's hair an appropriate color). I appreciated that Sabrina broke down and said she didn't feel she deserved all that. Then I likewise appreciated how Kate told her that her confidence is important to her getting a job and getting her kids back. I just really like how supportive she is of Sabrina. She really tries to build her up, and that's just the kind of thing Sabrina needs right now.

Jeremiah has been the voice of reason a lot this season, but the way he tore into Kate was so out of nowhere. First, I haven't really seen her doing anything this season that makes me think she's embarrassed. She's filmed with them more this go round than last year, I believe. But, if she is embarrassed, it's not of the Amish in general - but of these obnoxious, ill behaved miscreants. If you're shouting and cursing on the street outside my apartment, yea...I'd probably want to distance myself from you as well.

Here's a sentence I never thought I'd type: I'm with Rebecca. Why Jeremiah chooses to hone in on Kate with such animosity is mystifying.

Even if his claims are true (which I doubt. We've seen her show what appears to be sincere caring for Mary and Sabrina, for example.), dude, you appeared on a TV show together. You're not bonded for life. Get over it. Be civil when required and let the rest go if she's so awful.

Which I don't believe for a second.

ETA Ghoulina and I were typing at the same time. Adding a big second to your last paragraph. If I were Kate, I would distance myself from this freak parade when not contractually obligated (though I do believe her fondness for Mary is real, as is her concern for Sabrina). His ongoing whatever for Kate is unwarranted and completely out of line. I've never understood it.

I haven't even seen the episode yet but I think Jeremiah hates Kate because she is a beautiful woman who has never expressed a sexual or romantic interest in him. He is exactly the type of man who resents women like that.

I noticed in last night's episode that the filming has been all over the place. When Sabrina and Jeremiah were coming out of the restaurant for their date, there was snow on the ground. I'm in South Jersey but I believe even in NYC we didnt' have any significant snow until January. Then when the gang was sitting outside on the park benches talking about getting ready for Christmas, there were still leaves on the trees so it had to have been no later than early November. In some scenes they're wearing coats, in others they are not. So it's a wonky timeline at best.

I don't know what is going on between Kate and Jeremiah but apparently he blocked her on Twitter. Maybe something happened that we just don't know about since his actions seem totally unjustified.

Jeremiah is an idiot and thinks everything he thinks is right.  He is so wrong!!!

Jeremiah is just a willing tool of the producers, IMO.  I think all of this arguing is driven by the producers just to have something to film  Kate is an especially good target because she can't hide her emotions when attacked.  All of the questions about her "boyfriend" upset her as did Jeremy's attack.  If Kate learned to hide her reactions to stuff like that they would probably stop picking on her.  I maintain the producers are pretty desperate for a story line.  Jeremy has always been very good at supplying one.

It's interesting how quite a few of the cast mates have been arrested in the past. Abe for public drunkenness, Kate for DUI, I think Jeremiah for domestic violence (during his first marriage) and of course Andrew and now Chapel. Apparently Chapel was arrested not only for trying to pass off a clean sample as her own, she was later arrested for intent to sell drugs this past March.  It seems like leaving the Amish has made it quite difficult for most of them to cope with the real world. I'm wondering what Jeremiah did for work before the television show since in earlier threads it was stated TLC paid his child support that he had been behind on for quite awhile.

Didn't know about Abe's arrest. Chapel from what I understood wasn't Amish. Which I have no idea on Andrew's history with his drugs and issues but could it have started with her or was it before? Not only did Chapel do all that she also faked cancer coming back, set up a go fund me page to get people to take pity on her ass and give her money for her drugs. I had wondered if she was doing drugs because of how she spoke that last season she was on and came off as if she was on something. I got told off in one place for saying so too but yet it did come out later she was faking it all. I would bet she still has yet to pay those people back like she claimed she would. Jeremiah I think has even more arrests than that as well. It wasn't along ago that he had gotten arrested either for I think public drunkenness or something like that. In the end though no matter what the dude sends of creepy vibes. It amazes me that someone would marry him so easily and be ok with all his cheating he does and his past arrests.

I just finally watched this episode. I don't know if anyone catch it but why on earth did no one tell Mary that Chapel was faking her cancer coming back? She sounded stupid saying she was sorry for Chapel dealing with her cancer and stuff. With the so called makeover for Sabrina, they couldn't have fixed her hair color? As well as having her whine that she felt bad for doing that for herself instead of something for her daughter...well she obviously was dying her hair during the months before this show started filming. Did she feel bad than too? Really all she needed to do was wash her hair so it didn't look so dang oily and stringy. Even with the orangy color she would have looked like she was taking care of herself in some way. IMO the way she is coming off over Jeremiah is an issue she needs to deal with too. She seems to latch to him in a non healthy way.  Esther seriously creeps me the heck out. There is something not right with that girl. Jeremiah with the Kate being embarrassed. Sorry but if she was I would be to with how some of them act and what they have done. Especially him.

Regarding the cast's arrest history: Kate was arrested for DWI before the first season. It was in the gossip rags at that time. However, it seems that she has done well coming back from that. She really seems to have put herself together.

The original show that spawned all these show was of 5 Amish leaving for rumspringa. (forgive my spelling)

One of the original did a real documentary going around different Amish communities, talking with experts/wannabe experts. He began a real support community for ex Amish, addressing education, dental, technology and drug/alcohol abuse. He stressed how difficult it could be for someone to leave the Amish. They had to leave all family, even some who might support them. Finances & education were critical. Add to it, if someone was killed the Amish regarded those who leave as going to hell.

Of course, this was before Amish Mafia and all these Breaking Amish & Return to Amish etc. The state of PA has a law that prevents "exploitation" of the Amish, so that's why many of these shows are filmed elsewhere. (To protect the tourist industry rather than protecting the Amish...)

I want to what was said. I was looking at something the other day about things with the cast and past mistakes or other "drams" with the show. One of the things was that this was not Sabrina's first show. She had been on one called Amish at the Alter. I didn't look it up yet as I didn't have a chance but thought it was interesting. As well as they said not all Amish communities shun those that leave. In fact when Jeremiah left his ex-wife, who had been Amish as well, let it out how his family never shunned him or got in trouble for keeping in contact with him. They are who paid for new cars and such for him for years. I will take it that it is a case by case when it comes to communities and how they deal with that. Which after seeing that makes me wonder how real the whole shunning is with Mary and Chester considering how reality tv is nowadays and how this show gets most the time.
