ElectricBoogaloo March 9, 2016 Share March 9, 2016 Louis prides himself on being a fun dad, but after he has an accident and is forced to stay home with the boys, he scrambles to find ways to entertain the kids. And while Louis is stuck at home, Jessica struggles to manage the staff and the new takeout service at Cattleman's Ranch. Link to comment

biakbiak March 16, 2016 Share March 16, 2016 I wanted to smack Jessica so hard, especially considering minimum wage for servers (which is lower because of expected tips) in 1995. 2 Link to comment
Pallida March 16, 2016 Share March 16, 2016 I wanted to smack Jessica so hard, especially considering minimum wage for servers (which is lower because of expected tips) in 1995. This is why I don't think her behavior makes sense. If lowered wage plus tips doesn't equal minimum wage, the company is required to pay the difference. 2 Link to comment
ElectricBoogaloo March 16, 2016 Author Share March 16, 2016 I was annoyed with Louis. Eddie is in middle school (I think eighth grade?) so Louis has had over a decade to learn how to be a dad. You seriously can't spend more than five minutes alone with your kids? I'm pretty sure we've seen him spend time with the boys before so that makes no sense. But if we are to take this storyline at all seriously, I was annoyed because he was trying too hard to please them and entertain them, which is his role because he lets Jessica be the disciplinarian. I can't imagine letting my spouse swoop in to be the fun dad (and conversely, I can't imagine letting my spouse be forced to do all the heavy lifting with the kids - you need to be more balanced than only having one of these roles). Besides, your job as a parent isn't to be liked or to be your kid's friend. I understand that he works long hours so he doesn't spend as much time with them, but it just drives me crazy when I see parents who want to be BFFs with their young children. You are the parent, so act like it. When they are adults, you can have a BFF relationship with your kids, but not when they are that age. Hee, I loved the grandmother comparing her wheelchair to the one Louis had. I also enjoyed the ongoing discussion about who would be eaten if they were stranded on a desert island. I liked how offended Evan was by everyone's answers about him. 2 Link to comment
joanne3482 March 16, 2016 Share March 16, 2016 Especially since Eddie is the obvious best choice. He's kind of beefy so he would be well marbled, Emery and Evan would be wiry and stringy. 7 Link to comment
ClareWalks March 16, 2016 Share March 16, 2016 Eddie is the best choice for purely practical reasons - he would last longer and produce more calories. Also he is otherwise useless in a survival situation. Meanwhile, Evan and Emery can find water and start fires! 5 Link to comment
peeayebee March 16, 2016 Share March 16, 2016 I enjoyed seeing Louis play with the boys when he brought them chocolate cake. I also loved him dubbing the Chinese movie. That was pretty funny, and I was disappointed that the boys didn't appreciate it or join in. What a throwaway line when grandma said she had auditioned for that movie. I loved the scene where that old couple was calling in their order. 5 Link to comment

I really thought that dubbing was going to be their bonding moment, so I was disappointed the kids didn't find it funny. This episode was pretty weak to me. I don't like it when Jessica goes full-on mean. That's two weeks in a row that she's been a bitch. Doesn't she realize you get more flies with honey than vinegar? What she did to the servers at the restaurant was a dick move. I didn't find it funny at all. And the thing is, when they needed to be, the staff really pitched and made sure the customers were taken care of. 2 Link to comment
peeayebee March 17, 2016 Share March 17, 2016 BTW, help an old folk out: What does Tight Two mean? Link to comment
biakbiak March 17, 2016 Share March 17, 2016 (edited) Its a play on a "tight five" which is used in comedy. It means that the comedian has five minutes of solid material, Louis felt he had a two minutes of good material with the boys. Edited March 17, 2016 by biakbiak 5 Link to comment
