S04.E05: Stop The World (And Let Me Off)

Recommended Posts

What I was responding to was that cutting off Juliette was best for Cadence, not whether Avery was logical or not. That said, Pork Blood Peggy was logical in the show too. I usually like a little realism with my melodrama, but you know, to each his own.

Again, I don't care what's good or bad for a fictional character who will never grow up. I never said the Avery action was good or bad for Cadence based on what child development experts might say if these were all real people. They're not real people and the situation is not real.

I'm talking only about whether or not Avery's demand to Juliette to give up her parents rights was "ridiculous," the word used in the original post to which I was responding.   It makes perfect sense within the context of how the Avery character is drawn and how the relationship between Avery, Juliette, and Cadence has been written.

Like several others have noted , I also didn't see Maddie singing with Juliette as a big deal. Shame on me for reading too much into the episode release/previews, but I thought that Juliette in a drunken stupor was going to tell the girl to have sex and find them a place to do it or something. So the fact that it was only singing at least gave us a Juliette moment this season that was actually sincere and more in line with the two characters' prior interactions in prior seasons.

And I think Rayna should be concerned more about her daughter's other ambitions- like sleeping with her boyfriend. Did we ever get a scene last year where Deacon told Rayna about how he found the girl with her boyfriend/making out/not fully clothed? Cannot recall.  I had assumed that a follow up Rayna/Maddie conversation had occurred off-camera, but am wondering if somehow Deacon failed to mention it and this becomes a plot point later...

Agree with Lillybee...think/hope ultimately Avery produces Layla's album.

As a big fan of both the pairings of Juliette/Avery and Deacon/Raya, am disappointed about the future prospects of Juliette/Avery but encouraged about Deacon/Rayna long term. Had concerns that this Markus guy might create some sort of wedge between them as Rayna starts working closely with Markus. But given that he's a sophomoric prick/first rate narcissist, I can't see there being any real emotional attachment from her end.Though, of course, they'll probably soften Markus up in later episodes/make him more likeable. So while there may be friction coming between Deacon/Rayna related to other plots, I am so hopeful they don't physically separate them again this season and just have them together/working things out as they come up.

Did we all forget that Deacon and Rayna gave themselves to each other saying the marriage vows in the hospital before he went into surgery or is the series hoping we forgot about it or that it didn't mean anything. There has been no mention of what they promised each other, " I Deacon Claybourne take thee Rayna to be my wife""I Rayna take thee Deacon to be my husband." Will it ever come up again? Like many scenes on Nashville we are left to assume that Deacon/Rayna feel that they are husband and wife.

That is how I see it, Deacon and Rayna feel committed and married even though it has not been legally handled.  Look what they have been through since the bedside vows?  It is not like there has really been a chance for them to have a wedding.

I guess I'm waiting for that scene when Deacon says this is my wife Rayna Jaymes or Rayna says this is my husband Deacon Claybourne. I just want it said so us (me) fans could finally hear it and finally let out that breath we're (I'm) holding. Is that to much to ask for?

Nashville has always had this odd practice of dropping storylines. I realize in a Primetime show, not every i can dotted and t crossed, but there have been some, huh? Moments!

At the end of Season 1, Gunnar proposed to Scarlett. Come Season 2, she had not accepted the proposal, and the couple are broken up.

All right we could surmise, that she did not accept the proposal because they weren't ready. But, that happens with lots of couples. They don't necessarily break up? So, what led to them breaking up? It just would've been kind of nice to see some type of explaination of what happened post proposal!

Juliette and the Football player. Not that I wanted it drug out, but, close friends, at the time, like Deacon, would never so much as mention it, to Juliette, never a mention of the hapless guy after the annulment?

What about Sue? Did no one wonder what happened to that adorable puppy?

And how much were (are) Glenn and Bucky paid, to deal with the antics and PR nightmares, of their beautiful clients. Yes Juliettes a handful, but,, Rayna has certainly had her moments, as well!

I would hope those guys are making a small fortune!

Well, I can answer one of those for you. The boring vet girlfriend took Sue when she and Deacon broke up.

I have also wondered how much Bucky/Glenn, even Emily would make. Having a client on that level must be exhausting among other things. Juliette certainly found a diamond in the rough with Emily. That girl is an awesome assistant for someone who's previous job was at a mall!

And Chip took the real Sue, renamed him Blue, and took him home to the family.

I love Chip.  He is an adorable person. I sadly had to unfollow him on Twitter because he posted a lot of PR stuff (boring).  But I go see his Twitter frequently to see what he's up to.  I hope to someday watch him in concert.  But he's clearly a really sweet man.  With all of the eccentric and egotistical Hollywood personalities, it's nice to know some seem so normal and less affected by it all.

If I remember correctly, they were already broken up when he proposed. She'd bailed him and Will out of jail but told him that was it, she couldn't put up with his BS anymore. He tried to right his wrongs by telling his producer he'd been using Jason's songs and then he got flowers and apologized to Scarlett but she told him that wasn't going to make everything better. She went to see Avery perform somewhere, Gunnar showed up and saw them singing together, got all in his feelings and then proposed later that night. So it's not that she didn't accept the proposal and they broke up, it's more like he was making increasingly grander gestures to get her back.
