It's only been tabled until May. The Eagles would have preferred a straight voting down of the proposal. What's going to happen now is that the anti-tush-push side will get to work on tweaking the rule change in a way that might convince swing voters. The play will most likely not be banned outright, but it's looking like the Eagles will be forced to change it somehow.

League owners have voted to include stats from the old AAFC of 1946-49 into NFL stats.

Which means the 1948 49ers now own the single season team rushing record of 3,663 over previous holder the 2019 Ravens of 3,296.  That team also holds the team yards per play record of 6.07, now beating the 2024 Ravens of 5.76.

But more interestingly, the 1948 Browns join the 1972 Dolphins as being the only other undefeated season.  The league has added in the modern Playoff era to the Dolphins season.  The Browns won 15 total games that season under the tutelage of coach Paul Brown.

While us Browns fans need something good to hear, I do feel bad for the added asterisk on the Dolphins achievement.

Sorta, but Oakland knew they weren’t playing in their new home for a couple of years.  Baltimore had to play football in six months.

Back in the 80s it was very different.   Team either played in municipal stadiums or shared a stadium with the local baseball team.   The Colts had somewhere to go.

ETA:   During this same time frame - the Raiders bailed for LA and played in the Coliseum.   The Cardinals bailed from St. Louis to Arizona and played in Arizona State's Stadium until their stadium was built.    W

The push for dedicated single sport stadiums with sky boxes and party zones, etc really didn't start until mid to late 90s and only got real momentum in the early 00s.  that's why it so different for the Oakland As, they know how long it takes to build a purpose built stadium nowdays.   Back then, you went with what was available and tried for better later.

Of course Fox lobbied for Brady to be nominated while ignoring the better analyst they demoted.

Meanwhile Aaron Rodgers is still  holding the Steelers hostage. It is beyond embarrassing this team has been reduced to waiting for someone like Rodgers to decide if they want to play for them.  They have completely mishandled the QB situation since Ben retired.

Two AFC North teams nailed their QB, two have completely bundled theirs.

(Sadly, the two who have bungled their QB situation are represented in my home.  Browns for me and Steelers for hubby.  We can't even tease each other anymore.  It's just sad.)

Browns have a QB - Joe Flacco.   It's a one year deal.    This is a reasonable choice for a solid guy who can get you wins, but you know you don't want forever.

Plus you don't have to go QB at #2.

I'd like them to get Abdul Carter.  With Myles on one side & Carter on the other,  who needs a star QB?!  LOL

Derek Carr has a shoulder injury that may keep him from playing some/all of the next season. There had been talk previously that Shedeur Sanders might end up being taken in the back half of the first round or even fall out of the first round altogether, but now I don't think he's taken any later than the ninth pick, which the Saints currently have.

So the NFL fired 3 officials.  Per multiple sources (I first saw the news on NFL Memes, and later everywhere else).  Which...meh.  As the league is accustomed to do, they offer second chances to people that screw up (on & off the field).  Of course, those aren't complimentary, but nevertheless those refs get to do their stuff on the collegiate level.

Plans for the Chiefs to add them to their ring of honor and/or plan for a statue ceremony outside Arrowhead have yet to be determined. *

You know it's a horrible thing from the league when this gets out.  Typically the referees might get reprimanded but that's kept under wraps.

* I sorta "borrowed" this part.  Not verbatim but the idea lacks originality
