Amethyst August 26, 2015 Share August 26, 2015 Funny!! But I missed the last minute or two because the recording cut off. What did Beatrice and Lillian say at the end? Lillian: "Beatrice and I were thinking too small. Forget trying to get accepted into society. We're going to get famous!" Beatrice: "... yeah!" This one was great. I really hope Tabu sticks around for next season. Christina Hendricks may have a new show, so I'm thinking that Chair is supposed to be dead...for now. The baby stuff was a little confusing in the end, because she was nowhere near that big when Hamish initially confronted her. I wish this show was airing back to back with Drunk History, which new season starts next week. 1 Link to comment
Irlandesa August 26, 2015 Share August 26, 2015 Christina Hendricks may have a new show, so I'm thinking that Chair is supposed to be dead...for now. The baby stuff was a little confusing in the end, because she was nowhere near that big when Hamish initially confronted her. I thought that was to indicate a time jump. But maybe not. I think either explanation would work. Christina's not the only one with another show. Paget Brewster has one as well. I hope she'll find time for Dodo. For a second I thought it was going to be revealed that Chair was the author since I always thought there would be yet another layer to her machinations. Are we to think Peepers got Blanche to off Chair? Either way, that moment after Snoops Le Peu and Chair were dead where Peepers goes back to his Native American roots was terrific. This is by far the favorite thing I think I've ever seen Michael Ian Black do. 1 Link to comment

This is by far the favorite thing I think I've ever seen Michael Ian Black do. I thought it was a time jump too, but the ending implied that Lillian and Beatrice had just been turned away from the manor. Since this is a parody, I doubt they'll mention it again, but I just thought it was weird. When the paper's headline read "Modern Pigs" I knew Hortense had written it. I can't blame her. It's not like she's wrong, and she gets treated like crap by her whole family. Now her moronic sisters have been kicked out, while Hortense gets to live in luxury. Well played, Hortense. Peepers is one of my favorites. The weird accent, his love for Dodo...Michael Ian Black is perfect in the role. Link to comment
teddysmom August 26, 2015 Share August 26, 2015 (edited) They really get some good shots at Downton Abbey. Peepers trying to figure out how to use a phone, not showing the wedding ceremony. Is it me or was Chair wearing the same dress as Dodo at the end? Speaking of the cast, Jason Ritter was on a episode of Totally Laime podcast about a year ago, and actually admitted to being up late at night ordering HipHop Abs workout videos. Celebrities, they're just like us! Also, Rikki, Jason and Michael Ian Black were on a recent episode of At Midnight. If you can, catch it ondemand or the CC app. They did a segment Reality Shows in History that was just hilarious. Edited August 26, 2015 by teddysmom 1 Link to comment

DeLurker August 26, 2015 Share August 26, 2015 I thought things cooled off in eps 8 & 9 and was afraid they were running out gas. I thought this ep was really good and so we anxiously await S2. Kinda bummed Chair seemingly died. I understand other commitments will keep CH from coming back, but this is the most I have ever liked her in anything. I can't imagine what Peepers will do without DoDo, so Paget Brewster needs to find a way to be in at least some of S2. 3 Link to comment
iMonrey August 26, 2015 Share August 26, 2015 Jason Ritter is such a treasure it's a shame he wasn't featured more in this episode. My favorite part was Albert trying to cover his admission with "yummy vaginas" and a shot of Frederick nodding enthusiastically. Ritter is hysterical even without any lines. 7 Link to comment
amensisterfriend August 26, 2015 Share August 26, 2015 (edited) I seriously don't want to be too much of a Debbie Downer because I LOVED the first few episodes of this show and am hoping I'll fall back in love with it again, but this episode just confirmed that it's kind of gone off the rails to me. The grossness, ridiculousness, unpleasantness etc were all there from the beginning, but they've been ratcheted up to the point where the show is just too obnoxiously over the top for me now. It's just too outright hateful and dopey now, while before it was a LITTLE less hateful and the dumber humor seemed better counterbalanced by some more clever wit. I love the cast, the satire etc., but these past few episodes have just been disgusting to me, and not in a fun and amusing way. On a random note, I was hoping they were setting up a murder mystery for next session and am a little disappointed that we already know Peepers was behind it! (And it would have been fun not to know who pushed Chair down the stairs quite yet...yes, I read far too much Agatha Christie!) Edited August 26, 2015 by amensisterfriend Link to comment
thuganomics85 August 26, 2015 Share August 26, 2015 Kind of had a suspicion that Chair was going to bite it, since I had a feeling that Christina Hendricks was only going to be one and done here. Still, I loved that it ended up being at Blanche's hands. Never mess with the crazy! And it's telling how insane this show is that I wasn't surprised at all that they would kill her off, even if she was pregnant. That ain't nothing for this show! Still enjoyed her scheming and I'm glad Christina Hendricks got to show another side to her. Kind of thought this episode could have worked as a series finale, if it wasn't renewed. Some resolutions and a few threads left for next season. Lillian and Beatrice are kicked out of the house, but are now celebrities, so it isn't a completely unhappy ending for them. Chair is defeated/killed, Hamish is set-up for the reporter's death, Hortense gets revenge on her sisters, Garfield is back on the job (but stealing potatoes!), and Dodo is back on morphine. Also, Albert woke up! Can't wait to see whatever craziness happens next season. Have to think a few more historical figures will be popping up again. And what is next for all the characters. I love all of them, but I think my favorites this season where Peepers and Frederick. Jason Ritter is just killing it. Some of the funniest stuff tonight was just his background reactions to everything. 3 Link to comment
Kromm August 26, 2015 Share August 26, 2015 (edited) Who would have guessed that a show this over the top crazy wound up with a clear intact storyarc? I do think they should have given us a little more behind the scenes of Hore's role in this other than "I did it" though. Especially since the only part she engineered was the article--the rest was engineered by Peepers (arguably even Chair's fate since I suspect we're supposed to conclude he knew exactly what would happen if Blanche was returned to the house). We perhaps should have tied her to Peepers in the end--seen them co-scheming. I can see where they're going next season too, and I think it will be hilarious. Clearly the sisters will go Full 1903 Kardashian. They'll have them live off their fame. Sponging off "fans" for their housing perhaps, and having them make appearances for money. It's only a shame they don't have a Kris figure, since their mother was played a different way. Having Frederick STAY married was a neat twist I hadn't been expecting. The show is definitely going to play with that quite a bit. The mystery is what they do with the gay husbands. They're still technically married to the sisters, but I suspect the show will have them setting up their own establishment (not with the sisters, I mean). So the show will work in three different settings next season, and I'm wondering how they're going to pull that off. I mean 50% of the show is the Upstairs/Downstairs stuff, and that's hard enough with a single setting. If we see the husbands though, it won't be quite as much--they'll be guest performers at most. And the sisters WILL get brought back into the family soon enough. I bet the Commodore will wind up having to accommodate them after seeing them in the paper all of the time. Frederick's new wife will kind of replace the gay husbands on the show, I suppose. Kind of had a suspicion that Chair was going to bite it, since I had a feeling that Christina Hendricks was only going to be one and done here.We actually don't know that Chair is dead. We weren't shown it. I think it's safe to assume her baby didn't survive, because that was how she finally got the Commodore to do her bidding, but the ending was ambiguous about her on purpose, I bet. I suspect that Christina Hendricks is out of the regular cast, but perhaps might be pulled out of the ether for a surprise guest appearance later in Season 2. A revenge plot seems in order--a more direct one this time I mean. Edited August 26, 2015 by Kromm Link to comment
ddawn23 November 5, 2015 Share November 5, 2015 I thought it was pretty clear Chair was dead. The shot of her body was really similar to the shot of Matthew Crawley's body on Downton Abbey, too. I could be wrong, but I think she's dead. Link to comment
Arwen Evenstar November 14, 2015 Share November 14, 2015 Chair was brillianty, deliciously evil...loved the portrayals of Blanche and Garfield and Hortense....but I have to say that Dodo hands down was my fave. I think Chair is just too evil to be dead quite yet...Blanche clearly got her revenge for being sent back to the looney bin though. Also enjoy Beatrice alternating between vapid socialite and savant.
