S01.E01: Welcome to the Jungle

Recommended Posts

(edited)

This was described as a "New season" so I titled it that way. Hope it's OK.

12 folks who previously made it through 21 days will try to make it 40 days in Columbia. I didn't quite get it if they chose their teams  of 3 or if they were assigned the 4 teams in 4 locales over a 20 square mile area. The narrator mentioned, "complex social dynamics" which makes it sound a little more interesting imo. Each person can take a knife and one chosen item.

TEAMS: Maybe I can keep them apart in my head and sort of remember who is who :) Please correct the list if needed. The narrator used some of the descriptions, in quotes. Plus, I've written "beard" but I suppose most all the dudes have beards before the end of the 40 days. :)

Why was Honora there? She didn't finish her 21 days. She passed out and had to be taken to the hospital. She will probably cause some good drama though.

THIS! You beat me to it.  Honora didn't make it through the first challenge, so she was cast here because.....? she is a whiny, rude, piece of work?

Just the little sneak peak glimpse of her future meltdown was plenty for me to assess: Honora is the fuckin' worst. I can't imagine that she was cast again for anything but drama...feh.

In her original episode, though, did she confess to her eating disorder? That was new information to me, and shed some light on how quickly she'd berated her last partner (who essentially saved her life) as "fat." She comes across as pretty despicable on television...but if she's reading these boards, I say with all sincerity, Honora, you're not well. Recovery is a process, and repeatedly torturing yourself with survivalist reality teevee is probably not conducive. Get more help, for real.

It was funny how the narrator kept talking about how these are the most elite survivalists EVAR.

And then there's Honora.

THIS! Hee

I wish they'd have said, "most elite ever who survived 21 days.... and also Honora." But you said it first and better. :)

I am disappointed we do not have awesome Allison (I think that was her name) from the first season instead of Honora.   She was the one who could weave these intricate mats and had a great attitude, while her red headed cast mate was down with a severe sunburn.

My takeaway from this episode:

So basically, Honora has no honor. In fact, the guy who claimed he was a borderline psychopath (in the one guy, two women group) seems to have more honor.

Honora did read the boards on her last episode. She created a profile and everything. She kept trying to defend herself against the snark. She also admitted that is is unemployed and homeless, so it was probably really easy for her to sign up for the show, considering it may extend her 15 minute of fame. I'm surprised the producers took her back because she kept bashing them on social media after her episode aired.

She was my all-time favorite. Actual survival skills and upbeat to boot - poor thing had to put up with that jerk of a partner.
