PinkRibbons April 16, 2015 Share April 16, 2015 NOTE: Reign airs on Wednesdays in Canada, meaning that the episodes are very often viewed a day before they have aired in the US. Therefore please be aware that this thread will almost definitely have spoilers for those who wish to wait until Thursday night to view the new episode. Quote England's threats mount, so Condé aligns with the British while Mary restores her bond with France. Meanwhile, Catherine and Narcisse work their charms with those in court; and Kenna forms a connection with Gen. Renaude as Bash grows more aloof. brisbydog April 23, 2015 Share April 23, 2015 (edited) This show... I go from really loving moments with Narcisse and Catherine to just disbelief that they would "marry" Condé to Elizabeth. Glad it was erased as fast as it happened. Love both Narcisse and Catherine thinking the other set up the wedding. I bet Elizabeth herself set up the whole thing to cause dissent. Either way glad to see back of Condé. Hmm Catherine does not want to share Narcisse with Lola does she? Mary worst part of show. Finally love Francis now he seems to hate her as much as I do. Don't care about Kenna but otherwise really enjoyed this week. Edited April 23, 2015 by brisbydog Link to comment
Artsda April 23, 2015 Share April 23, 2015 (edited) I really like the Lola/Narcisse scene outside of Greer's whore house. As well as all the Bash trying to save the kids at all costs. Edited April 23, 2015 by Artsda 1 Link to comment
brisbydog April 23, 2015 Share April 23, 2015 Yeah, it's been so long I forgot that I shipped Narcisse and Lola. But I am so enjoying him with Catherine. Bash is awesome. Why did we need Conde on this show again? He sucks as a character and has made Mary completely unlikable. However, I started this year hating Francis and now I quite like him. So maybe the plan was for us to realize that he's ok compared to this douche bag? 2 Link to comment
PinkRibbons April 23, 2015 Author Share April 23, 2015 At this point Mary's only saving grace for me that I can see is if she was behind the arson. That would take her into EPIC Magnificent Bastard territory. Otherwise her own stupidity is being brought home and shoved under her nose and I'm glad to see that the show isn't afraid to lay it all out how massively she has fucked up. Love Greer's sudden success as a Madame but still hate her hair. What were they going for tonight? It was almost like they were trying to give her devil horns... Catherine girl, you go get some. She and Narcisse and fantastic. I hope she's not immature enough to be seriously threatened by Lola. And seriously, her guard was I think over-stating the situation. I kept expecting him to say "if that was my wife, it would make me nervous", not, "I'd kill that sum bitch". 2 Link to comment
dirtypop90 April 24, 2015 Share April 24, 2015 This felt like the conde show. I feel as if he had more screen time than Mary. I need him to go so I can get my show back. The end must be near for him. I suspect now is when he starts going after the crown. Francis - "this could be the end of our reign" was clearly foreshadowing what's to come. Love Catherine/Narcisse plotting to take down Conde. Mary is too stupid to live. I don't like the way the writers are clearly setting it up to blame all of her actions on PTSD from the rape, i.e francis's comments about conde taking advantage of Mary's trauma, Lola asking Mary if she's confusing love with gratitude, Catherine also seems to be completely blaming Conde for the affair. I really can't say enough how I hate the way Mary's rape has been handled. They just glued her to conde's hip for a season, such a waste. Francis is too good for Mary. I really wish they would let him truly move on. 3 Link to comment
Rhetorica April 24, 2015 Share April 24, 2015 This is not the show that made me smile at times. Remember the dark comedy that was occasionally thrown in? Henry fucking people out the window and Catherine helping him get rid of the dead bodies in his bed, due to her vast knowledge of same. Both working together on blackmail schemes, Mary and Francis laughing at the stories he's deformed, weddings set to the music "Royals". Clothing from multiple centuries. I miss that. 2 Link to comment
dirtypop90 April 24, 2015 Share April 24, 2015 Despite everything, I did love the last showdown between Frary and Francis throwing back her, "I decided to stand by my husband" at her face. I loved it when he asked her if she should thank him for doing something that was ultimately to her own political benefit. I have missed Francis's spine all season long and it was lovely seeing it today. The only thing I didn't like in that scene was mary trying to interrupt francis by saying that wasn't the only reason she stayed. It irks me because I really don't want francis and mary again but I know it's going to happen. I loved francis telling her she was no better than Conde. It really is true and those two deserve each other. I wish they would leave and this show could switch focus to queen catherine's reign instead. 2 Link to comment
LolaRuns April 26, 2015 Share April 26, 2015 I'm kinda disappointed that it seems not much came out of Francis' claim that he would live life to the fullest after his brush with death. It seems they could have used this to make him do some really fun wild things OR throw in some decent family bonding moments like between him and Bash or the younger siblings or even, yuck, Claude. ulkis April 28, 2015 Share April 28, 2015 (edited) The proxy's wedding dress was fugballs. Hee at Kenna telling Bash he has no friends. For a minute I wondered if they would have Catherine kill Lola but then she probably wouldn't kill the mother of Francis' only child, not without a really good reason. Andromeda April 28, 2015 Share April 28, 2015 Does no one watch this dreck anymore? Because I still do. Mary is hateful, really can't stand her, but I still get a kick out of the whole costume-dramaness of it all. Plus, Catherine is awesome, and I like most of the other girls (though Kenna is too silly for words.) Link to comment

I don't blame anyone for being driven away by Conde though. That fellow is dull and not good looking. Although I don't think any of the men of Reign are very good looking. Which is why at least one of them needs to be killed off. Conde, preferably. 1 Link to comment
Featherhat April 29, 2015 Share April 29, 2015 I skimmed watched a few of the episodes because someone said Greer's plot was much better than it sounds on paper, which it is. I agree I really can't stand Mary, I hate the fact that she got raped just so she would have an excuse to use Conde's apparent magic healing penis and that she has ignored any practical issues with her affair even though other characters have repeated pointed them out, and I hate that it's driven Francis to be such a doormat that he was upset that he felt bad about not wanting to give her his blessing for it. 2 Link to comment
Eolivet May 6, 2015 Share May 6, 2015 Maybe it's a total lack of history knowledge, but radicals threatening to blow up children with gunpowder felt a tad...anachronistic for 16th (?) century France. I know anachronisms are this show's middle name, but more than the clothes or music or openly feminist attitudes, that just really stuck out to me, for some reason. I find Mary and Francis far more interesting in their current relationship than I did before -- this strange dance of old affection, tolerance, self-interest, attempts at respect and political machinations. The last Catherine and Narcisse scene hit upon why I can't get into their pairing: they're too much the same. They're the male/female versions of each other, always scheming, always with a trick up their sleeves. Maybe Catherine has a tad more loyalty, but I feel like this pairing should be amazing and it just...isn't, to me. I can't shake the feeling that Conde is being royally (no pun intended) played with this Elizabeth thing. The tone her envoy used to address him is like when a parent addresses a child who has declared himself king in a game of pretend. Hey, there's Conde's next role: Game of Pretend Thrones! 1 Link to comment
