I think that they (the writers) may do that because Castle calls her both "Beckett" and "Kate".....

I think some of the writers just use Kate more and some use Beckett more. God forbid they have some kind of stands to follow in the writers room.

Beckett skips sergeant and lieutenant and goes straight to captain, huh? W. this show? Not surprising. Beckett: Super Cop.

I don't think it has anything to do with Beckett, it is just the writers not bothering to do research (or thinking that no one will notice). They probably think that since we've never had any characters who are sergeant/lieutenant it would confuse people to mention them. But at least this week she talked about being captain "some day" instead of acting like it was the next step like last week.

...And I guess there's no answer to my previous questions, because nobody remembers the actual case. That's okay.

Can someone please tell me how the guy's computer was still there to steal? Please? Anyone?

And why the assistant didn't bring up The Hammer and his threat until after his name was mentioned?

I remember thinking WTF that the computer was still there (instead of back at the station being gone over by forensic folks). It's not any worse than Kate digging up a dead body, but it was less amusing.

I seem to recall Kate and/or Castle interrogating someone about why he or she hadn't mentioned The Hammer threat, but it's all kind of hazy.

My feelings on this topic: sigh. And not because the writers/tptb/whoever screwed up.

My favorite part of the episode, other than the shower, the ballroom dancing, and the Get Lucky routine, was when Beckett admits to Martha why she doesn't want to participate because of the way she looks at Castle in the other room. That, hands down, is the moment that I keep going back to.

I'm a bit scepical that it would work in real life though according to the writers it does.

Less bouncing, but it totally is a thing.

McManda. Yeah the way she looks across at Castle in the other room when she tells Martha really adds something special to that scene, it's the little things that the actors can bring....

I do wish he didn't have to overhear these things though with his (supersonic) hearing and she had just opened up to him directly in the first place about her fears but that would screw up their plotting on the b story.

It's like they can't be bothered to be consistent, especially with Alexis because at least with Castle and Beckett they've always called each other that unless there were key emotional moments when they said their first names there was a pattern established. Given they appear to be pushing the relationship between Kate and Alexis on screen as being closer with the kisses and study help etc I wish they would have her say "Kate" from now on and stop switching back and forth. I don't know if it's the actress or the writing but sometimes the way she says "Beckett" it feels like an insult LOL.

As for Beckett "supercop" in this particular case I agree that it's more likely the writers don't think fans will even notice or care that she's jumped up a few rungs more than she should.  It's sloppy but predictable, the writers aren't that bothered about adhering to police procedures, they used to be a better at it but even then it wasn't a priority, they know fans aren't watching in the main for that.

Honestly, Castle start carrying a knife in your boot to cut the ropes, PLEASE.

Or Beckett, for that matter.  ;)  I guess neither of them watch NCIS. Gibbs' rule #9: Always carry a knife.

Not enough words for how awesome Esposito and Ryan's routine was. And half hour into the episode, I was still chuckling at the mental image of Espo and Ryan doing the Dirty Dancing lift. Heeeeee.

Rob Hanning seems to have cleared up that it was definitely doubles as if there was any doubt.

“@lahooti001:I don't like when actors say no to a scene from script&ask for doubles. It's their job.” No it's not their job so we didn't ask

In this case, I kind of liked that she was doing it not necessarily because she was scared to be honest, but because she was trying to support Castle by continuing to perform the song.

Honestly, if she had told Castle they couldn't do it because of her "song freight" people would have complained that she was bringing Castle down and not letting him have fun.  Or because she was making it all about her.  And if they had performed and done well people would complain that they were making Beckett too perfect by being a good singer.

Although it was kinda ruined by the poor body doubles, I loved the idea of the final scene ... after a tough day fighting crime and various insecurities, our favorite couple still finds time for some relaxing song-and-dance in the shower. Seriously, is this a great marriage or what?

Yes. If this had been filmed in the early 1960s or earlier, the obviously not! Castle and Becket body doubles would have been done to make it clear that the actors were not naked together. And they would have been sleeping in twin beds.

Nothing was ruined for me.  I never realized it was not them.  And it does not bother me that it was not actually Nathan and Stana.   It makes sense that the stars would not have to film that.

What really ticked me off was how Castle and Beckett handled the burial site. If you think you've found a shallow grave of a murder victim, you call for a forensic crime scene team! You don't tramp around destroying evidence! They BOTH should be kicked out of the precinct!
