S04.E18: Walk of Shame

Recommended Posts

I was laughing a lot when I was watching it. But I don't really know if I liked the episode. It was more just funny people, but not so much a funny story. It was more of a plot I'd expect to see from Modern Family (series of unfortunate events that ends with laughs). Meh.

I didn't think it was so bad. I thought Josh Gad was really funny. I loved the bits of the musical that we saw.

And Winston, as usual, had some great lines. About loving Jesus' hair, "Dude's hair get overlooked because of the miracles and stuff." His snake thing was great. "Damn lousy serpentsssssSSSSSSSSSSss." And then the stuff with the toothpick, wanting to push it thru to the other side was gross but funny. Also, "FYI, you guys live with the cat too, but at least I get to reap the benefits."

I wasn't crazy about seeing Nick and Winston coming to the gallery and then Coach making things worse. I did like May playing the Monday Night Football theme on her cello.

Oh, and I didn't think Jess's hair looked all that great after the blowout. Cece's looked as fantastic as always.

I agree about Jess' hair - I preferred it the morning after.  You say Cece's looked as fantastic as always, which it does, but I thought it looked the same as always. She's one person who doesn't need to waste money on a blowout.

When my sister got a fancy blowout, she sent me a picture and said she wished she could have someone make her hair look that good every morning. I didn't want to burst her bubble but her hair looked the same to me, but her hair always looks good even when she just wraps it in a towel and lets it air dry as she walks around the house. That's the burden of having naturally shiny and non-frizzy hair. I don't know - maybe it looked better in person. But I think that's the same issue with Cece and Jess. They already have shiny smooth hair normally so how much better could it really look? I though Jess's hair looked slightly fuller but not in a remarkably noticeable way. Cece's looked exactly the same to me though.

I had trouble with the timeline. So, the party was the evening after Cece and Jess had their hair done. Was everything else the next morning? Did the stuff in the loft with May inviting Coach and the guys to the art gallery and then the whole scene actually AT the art gallery all take place while Cece and Jess were doing their "walk of shame"?

Josh Gad was fantastic. I liked that the girls on the street made Jess & Cece "pay" them for phone use with Cece's purse. I think if I was Cece in that position, I would've worn the tshirt inside out.

Yes, that's what happened. There weren't any flashbacks or anything. The whole episode happened linearly. The guys were coming back from the gallery when they saw the girls walking and offered them a ride back to the loft.

I wondered why Jess didn't call a cab when she borrowed that younger girl's phone instead of giving up and walking.

Also being a fan of Switched at Birth, I got a little worried when Jess woke up with that look upon her face. So I was pleasantly surprised that there was no drunken sex to contend with, just drunken musical making.

We know Jess didn't have her purse. Maybe CC didn't have any money/cards in hers?

I liked this one!  Always great to see Justin Long.  He was actually my favorite of Jess's boyfriends! He didn't look as cute as I remember him, though - even without the clown shoes.

Yes and yes.

The funniest part of this episode was Justin Long and his squeaking clown shoes. That and yelling about having to masturbate to pornography he drew on the back of an envelope, right in front of the birthday kid's mother. ("He's great with kids.")

I wish we had gotten to hear more of the gay woodland critters musical. Especially with that sweet classical music in the background.

That was the weakest part for me because it was so obviously improvised. Sometimes that works and sometimes it just makes me cringe.

I love that no one mentioned the squeaking clown shoes. And having to draw your own pornography for masturbation purposes is sad and funny.

And why on the back of an envelope? Things are so bad he doesn't even have his own masturbation notebook? I was dying.

Jess' hair didn't look great straight, but I did love how confident she was with it at the start of the episode.

I liked that Jess didn't have sex with Bear Claw, because I feel like Jess could be arrested for that. bear Claw felt extra "special" in this one where he's just been kinda weird in his other appeances. I also love how he calls Cece "Sessy" and pretty much ignors her because he loves Jess.

The woodland creature musical was funny. I loved having Genzlinger and May join in at the end. May being totally keyed into the emotion of the scene was funny.
