CSI in the Media

Recommended Posts

Per several postings on Twitter that were summarized by Spoilertv.com, it looks like this Sunday's double episode will be the series finale not just the season finale.  Even though CBS is denying it, you just don't have "Series Finale" title cards queued up and ready to go unless you plan to use them or have episode guide information for cable/satellite uploaded with "series finale' in the description unless it was intentional.

The sad part is that if this is the series finale, it's going out on yet another edition of the stupid Gig Harbor killer nonsense -- nor will they have the opportunity to do a proper sendoff.  Because I can't be the only one that would like to see Gil Grissom come back one last time.

I long ago stopped watching this show, (shortly after Peterson left) but I have to note its passing. This, along with L & O ushered in the age of the procedural, especially on CBS. Initially paired with the infinitely more hyped Fugitive reboot, it became the highest rated show on the network. Sixteen seasons, not too shabby.

I admit, I'm going to miss this show mostly because at this point it's like a really comfortable old sweater that you know is really too ratty to wear out in public anymore but you just can't quite bring yourself to part with it yet. That said, the show really is past its use by date and should have wrapped up a few seasons ago. I haven't paid much attention to changes in the writing staff or the show runners, but the writing in the past couple of seasons in particular took a shockingly sharp nosedive. Of course, any show that has been on the air as long as this one is going to have more than a few clunkers along the way, but the writing in recent seasons has gone well beyond clunker status. They've been almost unwatchable. In the past even the goofier episodes still gave the actors something to work with, but lately the actors all look like they'd rather be any place else on earth than being forced to recite the clunky, horribly written dialogue they've been given. The show was a groundbreaker in its day and a ratings juggernaut for CBS for a remarkably long time. It deserves a proper sendoff. I just hope the writers can pull their heads out long enough to give the final goodbye the respect the show and it's long time viewers deserve. I guess we'll see....

I will admit to being suprised and a little sad. Since it's been posted on Hulu+, I've been using the show as something to play in the background when I'm bored. I figured they'd keep going with it like the did L&O; although I did think they had revitalized L&O when they switched up the cast a couple seasons before it was done (they just didn't maintain the momentum).

Eitherway, I'm sure the cast is ready to go. It's been a long haul.

Well, if we get to see Grissom in the finale movie that will be something nice. Just so long as he doesn't wind up being a killer or some other nonsense. I remember when they did that in one of those Homicide: Life on the Street movies with Bayliss and I wanted to throw a brick at the TV.

I honestly don't give a damn about CSI. The way they handled Gil and Sara's divorce, along with how they treated the fans in that episode was the last straw for me. Haven't watched an episode since. Might watch the finale (hate-watch wise), but other than that, good riddance -_-.
