Our team runs the ambitious “Christmas Carol” con on a wannabe cryonics mogul who coerces dying patients into exploitative contracts bankrupting the loved ones they leave behind. But when the mark escapes the artificial world the team has built, they must race to find his assets before the entire job is blown.

First of this isn't the show's fault or the actor's but Sam witwer I just couldn't. I know him from Being human and Smallville. One he plays a vampire and the other doomsday (an alien that kills people...). So I just lost it when he said "what am I going to do with the bodies", I had to pause and rewind as the I was so distracted and taken out of the show. I have to say that is weird thing to be typecast for, for whatever reason he's going to take bodies...

Anyhow besides that. The con was meh, I didn't buy that he would fall for it. And it seemed so risky to do. The show did have the characters voice this but it went to smoothly to be honest. I know they tried with the people from the party, but it was a stretch. I don't buy the drunk Santa guy would have left the party while it was still going or that the goths would wait until then to go down the basement.

That being said, there good moments. Like Parker pretending to be a zombie and the assistant getting to tell him off at the end but ending up with the company.

Possible, but it could still ruin the plan. So why make up such a bad lie?

Also I'm pretty sure the writers didn't know that. ;)

I don't think they made up a bad lie. The writers simply didn't know the latest research, they just went with the disinformation that's been part of the collective consciousness that is popular culture for years, and didn't bother to research it for verification because it was just a throwaway line to them, a cheap gag to sell the bit.

These writers have made far more egregious errors before now than not knowing the latest research on komodo dragons. (The lack of even the most basic research that went into Sophie's 'title' and the backstory they built for it really rankles, even now. Do better, writers!)

Do I mind a Christmas episode at Easter? No, not at all!

Yes, the con was really over the top even for this show but it's not the first time they went that far. The 'White-Rabbit-Job' aka the 'un-grift-able-grift' was equally ambitious/impossible, that's why I remember the episode (well, and for introducing me to 'White Rabbit' by Jefferson Airplane).

It was still fun, the only thing missing was Parker watching 'A Christmas Carol' at the end with Hardison. Oh, and a follow-up for the lady in the wheelchair. That was damn smooth and at least the end was not part of the con.

This was so much fun. Convincing the mark it was 30 years later. I can't believe that Christmas loving Parker has never seen or heard of a Christmas Carol. Scrooged with Bill Murray should be her favorite with all the violence.

I wonder how many times they've tried the Christmas carol con that never worked.

The assistant Bobby was so stupid. I'll never understand how anyone can be that stupid with a crush on the boss who clearly doesn't like her.

I liked the team talking about what they wanted when they died. Parker and Hardison of course will have robot bodies. They told Eliot at the time they got him one too. I wonder how he convinced them he wanted to be ripped a part by wolves. That's certainly one way to go Eliot. Sophie of course wants to be buried beside Nate.

According to John Rogers on Bluesky, they would've liked to do something.

"FWIW Kane asked us if we could do a quick scene where they call Eliot for something and he’s out on that date with Ivy, but we ran out of runway (10 eps!) and budget for flying her back down."
