S01.E06: The Camgirl Inquiry

Recommended Posts

This one wasn't too bad.  I'm over the whole Moriarty manipulating Shinwell and the changing of the pills though.  It would be nice if Stephens could find some middle ground with his brother (even with the obvious issues).  I'm also glad Sasha seems to have broken it off with her wannabe fiance and Ingrid is still Ingrid though I do think it would be good for both ladies to have some sort of relationship that isn't just work related.  Although, I'm not sure how Sasha will feel once she figures out Ingrid manipulated her into getting her sister into that trial.

I found this one to be interesting. The mix of detective work to find Portia and also learning more about a few characters.

I don't understand why they didn't look into the possible rabbit connection or plague sooner though. Apparently, I've watched too many diagnostic shows (fiction and reality), as I was yelling "Tularemia!" (rabbit-borne disease) and "bubonic plague!" at the screen.

I'm not into the whole pill switch plot though. Assuming he actually did it. And wouldn't Watson notice if they looked different? Or did he, say, empty out a capsule and put something else in it?

So I've started fastforwarding Ingrid scenes.

I thought that having Stephens in the A-plot here worked better than several of the other attempts to flesh out the doctors. And hey, we finally met the bold chick that exchanged one twin for another! I too liked the detective aspects of the A-plot.

LOL at them trying every Shakespeare name for the dog!

Even though I know they're trying to build up to something, I'm doing my best to not pay too much attention to the Moriarty/Shinwell subplot.

This case felt a bit dragged out for tv’s sake, but I really liked seeing the team put the pieces together. The camaraderie they’ve built is almost endearing, especially when it takes the focus off Watson, who doesn’t suck so much now that he’s quit stalking his ex.

I also really like Ingrid, despite all her shameless shadiness. I find her mean spiritedness fascinating rather than grating. Same for Sasha. On paper she would work my nerves but the actress is charming and perfect at pulling off the high strung, exaggerated, nice girl vibe. Hers and Ingrid’s scenes are the ones I find the most entertaining; if the show wasn’t being so obvious about pushing Sasha and Stevens together, I’d think they were going to go there with Ingrid and Sasha. And I wouldn’t hate it, as messy and manipulative (from both sides?) as it would likely be.

Oh, and I forgot: Mrs. Hudson is an escort(?) in this universe?? And like several recent adaptations, Sherlock and Irene Adler were/are in a relationship. Not here, I don't think, but I know there was speculation that Ingrid might actually be Irene.

Yes it was interesting that Watson described Irene as a con-artist, and said Mrs. Hudson pretended to be the housekeeper. I guess since Irene "flits in and out of his life", that Holmes gets lonely without her. I'm glad that there's no suggestion that either woman works for Moriarty. I assume this means that Watson knows what these women look like, so this is more confirmation that Moriarty's henchwoman isn't Irene or Mrs. Hudson. Good, for now.

I think also that Watson said he spent 1 year total with Holmes, and the last few months were all about chasing Moriarty.

Wow, camgirls charge by the minute and I think he was on there for like several days. I think he may have spent a new car worth of money.

Right? When she passed out I kept yelling "Hang up!" at the t.v.

Also, why didn't they just contact the company she worked for to either try to get her information or to have them send an ambulance over to her home?

Add me to the list of those that wish they would ditch the Moriarty/Shinwell pill switching subplot.

Couldn't decide if I was intrigued or if it was too anvilicous when Ingrid didn't understand loving a pet.

What company? They didn't know who she worked for, or her real name. They kept the feed open to look for clues, monitor her symptoms, and try to calll the dog closer.

If they are tablets rather than capsules that can be opened, I assume that Moriarty knows what the real meds look like and made his fake meds resemble them. But also, if generic medicines are made by more than one manufacturer, then each manufacturer might make different looking meds. It all depends on what the meds are. You basically are having to trust the manufacturer and the pharmacy that your med is correct.

The company that hosts her webcam, they would have some type of personal information to pay her and for tax purposes. The webcam host can check the feed if any type of complaint is made. Although the webcam feed just looks like the webcam girl fell asleep during a session (happens quite often) and would probably be grounds for a webcam girl reprimand and a partial refund for the client.

Instead of wasting hours trying to guess the dog's name, they should have tried to lure the dog over by showing him dog treats, food, or toys.

Thank you. This is what I meant. Stephens could have started with the company to which he makes payments for seeing the cam. They could have TRIED to get a live person to check the feed and send an ambulance over. Seems quicker than the route they took.

Forgot to say I was impressed at Sasha backing Ingrid down when she started to try to embarrass her about the sex toy. "I lahk orgasms. Got a problem with that?"

Oh yeah, that was funny.😄

Ok I didn't know the webcam company would have personal info. I thought it would be one of those online companies where you could sign up with a fake name, and I thought Stephens probably paid her through Venmo or some other service, where you couldn't get account info without a court order.
