S05.E12: Trust No One

I kinda lost interest when I realized this was "Equalizer does National Treasure". Not that I'm opposed to 'theme' episodes, but I just wasn't into the theme.

And then Dee got the Very Special Episode part of the episode; but I thought it was okay. I have a feeling there'll be a sequel to this B-plot.

Well, of course Robyn and Dante are going to go slowly when it comes to involving their kids. But I'm glad they're addressing some of the issues that would inevitably come up with them being together.

Fashion Highlights: I didn't really like both the top and pants together, but I did like the print on Robyn's outfit.  And I did like the shirt and jacket combo that Dante was wearing.

I thought this episode was fun, even though it was kind of bonkers.  Some of the clues they had to go through to solve the mystery made me think, "Wow, the writers are really nerdy!"  I was laughing at Mel's snarky comments but it was nice that she was supportive of Harry and joined in rather than being totally dismissive.  It was weird that the evil professor lady brought the daughter a casserole to get her to open the door, even though the thugs were with her and they could have just busted down the door (especially with having already killed the cop who was stationed there).

They probably will continue the plot about Cam's friend and his sisters.  I was afraid they were going to have Dee somehow chime in and save the day when the social worker was there.

I loved this one. Harry geeking out over the treasure hunt was really fun. He was really getting into it. It was fun seeing Mel having fun too. I love how they smashed large columns and no one came to arrest them or anything. Where were the employees?

At first I thought the killer might be the professor's boss but then woman made it clear it was her by watching Harry and Robyn.

I'm glad Dante not saying anything about inviting his sons over didn't turn into a big thing to drag out for weeks. Robyn asked and he told her.

I'm not sure how the situation with Cam's friend and his sisters is going to turn out. I hope it does. That's a tough situation and a lot for him to take on.

I enjoyed the treasure hunt, it was a lot of fun, although I echo the disbelief that the Masonic Temple was unstaffed both times and that there aren't security cameras or anyone noticing them just destroying the pillars.

I'm having a really hard time watching Queen Latifa act like an embarrassed tween.

This.  I was cringing in second hand embarrassment when she said at the end in the bar that Dante's son is having a hard time accepting that his father is in a romantic relationship with a woman who is not his mother.  She felt awkward saying it.

Are these two in fact in a romantic relationship?  We have seen them kiss maybe twice?  Nothing beyond that, no other signs that they are a couple other than the two kisses and them saying so.  They don't act like a couple at all and they have zero chemistry.

In this episode, Robyn said something about how Viola and Delilah have known Dante for "years".  Years?  I guess, if they count three years as "YEARS".  Usually I think when somebody says they have known someone for YEARS it typically means decades.

I really liked this episode, but a couple of problems...

Haven't they been doing this kind of thing long enough not to answer the phone blurting out key information?  "Ariel, we have the key!".

Going in the room with the woman just sitting there...they knew she had henchmen.  I guess they had help in the wings, but it still seemed risky.  At the least, I would have had just one of them go in the room and the other two hiding to save them.

Are Masonic temples left unlocked and empty?  Would have been cool if one of those knights appeared like in Indiana Jones -the one with his father. I kept expecting one to calmly walk around the corner when they were trashing the place.

Still, one of the more fun episodes.  I like riddle shows.

And remember:  Always be yourself. Unless you can be a pirate.  Then, always be a pirate.
