Well, thank goodness the surgical team was able to complete the surgery after the power was restored, stabilize the patient, transport her to a post surgical area, staffed by the invisible staff. Then clean up, dress in their black dress uniforms and make it to the deck to see the fireworks that will scare off the orcas!

The housekeeping/EMT staff are supposed to be invisible.  With the anti piracy sound canons and the 78 hour turnaround to restock for the next paying cruise it did play like the Odyssey was deadheading to reposition to new port and cruise schedule

I get that Doctor Odyssey is pure fantasy, but seriously, there is no way someone who has just undergone major, very invasive, surgery is crawling around the ship leaving a bloody mess behind them.  They aren't back at their post doing anything.  They are trying to recover.  If they need hospitalization, they are going to the hospital.

And if this is a deadhead cruise without passengers, why are they all dressed in their dress whites to begin with?

I thought they should have taken the various body parts along in the tender to chum the orcas while they sped off toward the mainland.  Silly me.  And how big were those orcas?  The radar images made them look like Los Angeles class nuclear submarines.

I think if I were the captain on that ship, I would have a very pointed discussion with the owners about the design and construction of it.  A shark chews through the only (!) propeller, which causes a ship-wide power blackout with no backup systems, and the only way back to the generator room is through 6" (!!!) steel bulkheads. because the hatch is sealed shut.

I was ready to hate this show as  cliché Love Boat meets Private Practice but it turned out to be enjoyable.

It's just like 9-1-1, a melodramatic  fun show that doesn't take itself too seriously.

When I actually watch what remains of broadcast prime time, some shows aren't bad. But so many of them are formulaic carbon copies, that there's no draw factor to get me to watch to begin with.

Monroe was irritating with his prideful need to help the crew. As selfless as he was trying to be by getting back to the Captain's bridge, he's being selfish and jeopardizing all the work the doctors did to his body --with strained resources--to keep him alive. at least he was able to help in the end.

Even if he was just the First Officer he was acting like the Captain of the ship in every other naval movie

I know the Odyssey isn't the size of a megaship like the newest Royal Caribbean ships that can hold 6000 (?) passengers, but it still seems to be a fairly sizeable ship based on the full length shots we have seen.  I find it hard to believe that the tender is prety much an oversized inflatable raft like the kind you would go whitewater rafting in.  Most ships have tenders and lifeboats that are fully enclosed metal, in the event there is bad weather.

I don't know what happened to the chef, but perhaps things have changed now that Tristan found out he might be the father of Avery's baby.  I think Avery should choose Tristan.  Tristan is a stand up guy and he loves Avery for her, long before any baby was involved.  He will always be there for her and he is more likely than Max to love the baby as if it were his own even if it weren't.

Max told Avery that he didn't want any part of the throuple because he is a "one woman guy", and then promptly flirted with Surf Doc and encouraged her.  Max is less reliable than Tristan.

It does seem as the Odyssey's crew stories come more from the private yacht crew reality shows that might have also played in Dr Bankman's quarantined hospital stay after the plastic surgery guy' reality show than the Love Boat's crew. But then how could that infirmary fit on a yacht?

I am surprised they offered a position to the engineer and didn't offer a position to the doctor, even though they know that Avery might be leaving soon.

He wasn't an engineer but a first officer going down to help out like Star Trek's Mr. Spock often did on the Enterprise. Odyssey herself didn't need another doctor as much as she would need a hand willing to do the nurse staff work. The trauma surgeon on the run as a concierge doctor doesn't seem the type to jump in
