  1. I love this show. Clearly I am in the minority. Maybe because rich people being awful to each other is my catnip tv? It’s meant to be a farce. Though I will admit it took a few episodes to get there. And I think Josh Lucas is giving an award worthy performance. Is Douglas supposed to be an idiot? Yes! And he’s the best part of the show in my opinion.
  2. Humidity I bet. I have lived in Southern Arizona most of my life, where we get to 110 at least in the summer. But put me someplace where it’s 85 degrees but very humid and I’ll be drenched in sweat and unable to breathe.
  3. I think Fraser is overcompensating for his last season as Chief Stew when he tried too hard to be friends with his stews and ended up letting them run all over him for far too long. I think he is generally good at his job and will ultimately find a balance, which is something every new supervisor has to figure out over time. Though it’s perplexing that he didn’t test Cat before putting her on service. Or seemingly did not do anything to ascertain whether she was in any way ready beforehand. That really stank of production interference.
  4. Squealed to see replicas of two of my favorite tiaras this episode: Lauchtenberg Fringe (on Bertha) and Liechtenstein Honeysuckle tiara (on Turner)
  5. Once again, Kyle is the catalyst for the interior drama, even with an able assist from Natalya. I still think Kyle is worse—he’s the one who planted the seed that Tumi was dismissing Jess’ ability and he did so just because he thought being on service for this charter would be too much work—but Natalya is getting close. Kudos to Jess for actually asking Tumi what she meant instead of just taking Kyle’s or Nayalya’s interpretations at face value. Boo to Tumi for giving Kyle more to work with, so to speak. I would hope by now she would have realized not to tell him anything about anyone, because he will twist it to achieve max drama. I’m going to give Lara the benefit of the doubt—for now—that she didn’t realize the shit show she was feeding into.
  6. My takeaway from all of this drama so far is it’s Kyle stirring stuff. Everybody in the Interior’s first impression of each other seems to be influenced in some way or another by Kyle. He’s clearly playing all sides.
  7. I think for all Laura’s bravado, I detected at least a wariness or trepidation in her voice, if not some actual fear, when she went into Luke’s cabin immediately after the Margot incident and he slammed the door shut and she said let’s just go upstairs or something to that effect. Which makes her comments to Margot the next day even more awful.
