Quilt Fairy March 15 Share March 15 I'm halfway through the first episode, and this is a hard watch. I'm not sure I'll be able to get through it. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152363-s01e01-episode-1/#findComment-8607621
mustbekarma March 15 Share March 15 I just felt for that kid, even if I'm 90 percent sure Jamie did it. The father being so helpless when watching his child be strip searched and blood drawn, I felt so badly for him. Then the way he broke down at the end. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152363-s01e01-episode-1/#findComment-8607685
Straycat80 March 15 Share March 15 I had to research this show before I watched it because I didn’t understand the dialogues about Incel and emoji’s (episode two). So I was spoiled. I felt bad for the parents and sister going through the trauma of having your house invaded and Jamie being arrested. I felt bad for Jamie until the end of the episode and seeing what he did to that girl on the CCTV footage on the laptop. I felt bad for his poor father. Raja March 15 Share March 15 I found the arrest and initial processing of a juvenile murder suspect compelling. It seemed documentary like. 5 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152363-s01e01-episode-1/#findComment-8607984

I felt I was with Jamie, all through the processing, I was right there. I'd never felt that way before. 4 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152363-s01e01-episode-1/#findComment-8609476

fastiller March 18 Share March 18 Oof, that was a tough watch. I'll need to watch these episodes with breaks between. Stephen Graham is brilliant in that final scene. @Snazzy Daisy's link above uses the word 'poleaxed' and Graham shows this so well. I really like the one-shot technique they're using here. Graham was in a film from a few years back called Boiling Point; they used the the same thing for that film. I guess he go to appreciate it there. It's available in the States on Peacock, I think; worth finding if you have a hole in your viewing hours/schedule. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152363-s01e01-episode-1/#findComment-8610476
Snazzy Daisy March 19 Share March 19 The feeling of walls closing in on Jamie is heightened by the one-shot filming style. It’s suffocating. From discovering Katie’s body to arresting Jamie, it takes the detectives less than 12 hours to comb through all the street cam footages to identify the perp. I can no longer hold my tears when Eddie (Jamie’s dad) starts sobbing. 😢 Jamie repeatedly saying “I haven’t done anything wrong” is quite telling, the emphasis should be on the word “wrong”. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152363-s01e01-episode-1/#findComment-8611109
ItCouldBeWorse March 19 Share March 19 I agree it's compelling. However, knowing that my son had been arrested for homicide, as soon as the lead detective came in to talk to me once I got to the police station, I'm pretty sure I would have asked who died. I found it perplexing that neither parent did. Or even the older sister. (I understand that the detective wouldn't have told them; they held off even telling the solicitor.) But it's just such an obvious question to ask, even if I didn't expect to know the victim. I probably would have asked back at the house. 2 2 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152363-s01e01-episode-1/#findComment-8611129

At the end, he said "That wasn't me" (Or "It wasn't me")...I thought that was telling. I could only watch the one episode in a sitting, it was too much emotionally.
